Appendix A

Define the following terms found in Week One and Week Two readings:
Diversity: is but not limited to, race, religion, color, gender, national origin. The ability recognizes the difference in everyone.
Ethnocentrism: the tendency to assume that one’s culture and way of life are superior to all others.
Melting Pot: Diverse racial or ethnic groups or both, forming a new creation a new cultural entity.
Minority group: is a subordinate group whose members have significantly less control or power over their own lives than do the members of a dominate or majority group.
Emigration: Leaving a country to settle in another.
Immigration: Coming into a new country as a permanent resident.
Culture: the knowledge, beliefs, habits, and laws that is specific to one group of people or one society.

What are some of the ways group of people are identified?
People are identified in many groups. Some of the ways that people are identified in groups is by Gender, Race, Religion, Population and Ethnic etc. When it comes to Gender a person is grouped by wether they are a Male or Female. Some are grouped by religion, if you are a Christian you are grouped differently sometimes even labeled. If you’re a Muslim your grouped and labeled even if you’re a Jew your grouped and labeled. Race is another was people are grouped. If you’re an African American, Causicaian , Hispanic, Asian and even Native American your grouped. At your place of employement you are grouped….. your grouped if you have a degree, if you have a high school diploma if you are married, single and sometimes wether or not if you have children. The United States Cenus department popular for grouping people in many different ways. They group on how many working american are in one state, how many are woman, how many are men, how many are African American working men that are working in
