...Executive summary Business proposal The business that I have chosen to do will be a café business that will provide organic product only, the business will be called Pretty Baked. The reason why I have chosen this name is because I want to have a name that is fun to read as this way there is a high chance that people will remember my business name. The main idea of this business is to have a cake café for everyone to sit down with their friends or family to relax and talk while having freshly baked cakes (see appendix 1), croissant (chocolate and butter) a cup of coffee (Flat white, Cappuccino, Americano, Espresso), tea (traditional tea, earl grey) and other drinks such as hot chocolate. The business is based in the Marlow high street (see appendix 2 and 7) I believe that this is a good place to base my business because the high street is a very busy place also near the Marlow bridge so therefore there will be a high chance that I will have higher footfall compare to places outside the high street (see appendix 3 for Marlow population density and appendix 4 show the total population of Marlow from 2010 to 2013). Furthermore the café will be opening at 7 A.M. in the morning until 5 P.M. in the evening, however, on a Sunday the shop will be open later at 10 A.M to 4 P.M. The reason why I have chosen these specific times is because I will be able to maximise the amount of customers as the café will be open during the morning rush hour. This time is normally when people are......

...Nylasha Miller May 1, 2016 Applied Business Law Everest University If people work hard and create or buy physical property such as houses, jewelry, cars or acquire money, they own that property in perpetuity, and can bequeath it to their. We would be outraged if someone said that other people could have "fair use" of our homes or that our right to bequeath our family heirlooms would expire 70 years after our death. Yet, for the owners and creators of intellectual property, the notions of "fair use" and copyright expiration both limit the rights of creators to dispose of their own intellectual creations as they wish. Imagine the situation of a novelist who spends three to five years writing a book. This is a huge investment of time and labor, equivalent to the labor of someone who spends the same number of years working in a corporate job. The value of the novel, like the value of anything else, is a function of the amount of labor going into it. Audience members have only the rights to a novel or movie or music that they specifically purchase. The idea that it is "fair" to make copies without the permission of the creator of the work is the same as saying that I should have "fair" use of someone else's house or money. The negative side of weakening of copyright and advocacy of "fair use" is that it reduces the incentives of people to invest time in creating high quality work that audiences can enjoy. The less creators earn from their work, the faster they must......

...Unit 3 – Business mathematics Belinda Hackworth American InterContinental University Abstract My business that I will be opening is a hair salon. This essay will explain the expenses and revenue of my salon. I will show how this business will prove to be successful and promising to anyone who reads. Introduction I’ve always dreamed of starting a business. As a former cosmetologist, I’ve always had a passion for hair and beauty. I’ve also had an online store selling jewelry for a few years. So, I know my way around a salon and I know how to market a business. Now that I’m a student of business, I think that I’m capable of starting a hair salon. This choice of business was my first choice because I feel comfortable in my efforts of having a salon. I am familiar with the operations of a salon, and with maintaining the required inventory. That being said, the public will always find a need for a salon, and the trade of cosmetology will be a useful one for years to come. I think that opening a salon is a very smart business move. Revenue and Profits My projected sales for year #1 are $50,000 at the minimum. My expenses will total around $10,000. The expenses will include products for salon services, insurance on the building, and equipment for the salon. Around 10% of my sales revenue will be consumed by expenses. The remaining 90% will be profits. Product Price and Cost Haircuts will be sold at $20. Hair color services will range from $40 to $100. Hair......

Facing giants like Wal-mart, BP, Circle-K, and Exxon Mobil, Phillips 66 and many other retail chains like yours often results in competition operating across the street from one another. So in this type of industry that has a saturated market of convenience, how do you make profit and retain customer loyalty through business strategies that differentiate you from the competition? Does it begin in the gas price? Perhaps it begins with the sale of milk with cookies? No, I think it begins with business intelligence that tells you the customer sees the lower gas price, stops in to pay for and sees the coffee and donut deal that further lowers his cost of gas. How does all that happen? According to an Oracle White paper “Daily Business Intelligence requires an information delivery environment that offers advanced analytics that are easy to use.”(Mirani, Jagdish) This business intelligence often filters through many departments before it ever reaches the executive decision makers, which ultimately leads......

M2 Applied Business Doc

...Activity 1 – P5 Every business has one goal, to maximize its profit, this therefore can be done by analyzing the demand of consumers, providing appropriate supply, along with maintaining quality of goods and services. However, there are many factors that affect this simple operation. Owing to these economic elements, the sales, prodcution, and procurement of a business get adversely impacted. These factors include: * Demand and Supply * Rate of interest * Globalisation * Competitive pressures The factors I have chosen to write about is Demand and Supply and Globalisation. The term ‘demand’ is used to describe the quantity of a good or service that consumers will buy at a particular price. Consumers will buy more of the same product when it is cheaper than when it is more expensive. The demand can be affected by a few factors like: affordability, level of income etc. The ‘supply’ of a product is the quantity that a supplier is willing to provide at different prices. Typically suppliers will supply more at a higher price rather than a lower price. Therefore when the demand increases, then businesses will usually try to supply more. The ease with which they can increase supply depends on: availability of raw materials and labour, logisitcs. The demand and supply are two principle factors that affect...

An Ethical Theory Applied to Business Organizations

...An Ethical Theory Applied to Business Organizations The object of this essay is to establish whether there is an ethical theory that can be successfully applied to business organizations. In order to answer this question, it is necessary first to define the major ethical theories, which are utilitarianism, deontology and virtue ethics, before determining whether there are any other options. After that, the ethical needs, problems and limitations of work organizations will have to be examined so that the different theories can be evaluated in this context. It will also be important to draw a distinction between the terms “accurate” and “useful” as these actually result in two different questions the answer to which need not necessarily be the same. Another essential part of this discussion is the more general question why there should be ethics in work organizations in the first place, and to what extent ethical behavior is feasible in the business world. Hopefully this will provide a framework within which the answer to the essay question can be included.  To begin with, the “traditional” approaches to solving moral problems will be defined, namely those of act-utilitarianism and deontology. These are traditional not because they have existed longer than virtue ethics, but because for a long time they have been the approaches most commonly used as a basis for trying to solve ethical problems. After looking at these two moral theories, the approach of virtue ethics regarding...

Applied Business Unit 4 Evaluation

...Evaluation As part of this coursework it is important to evaluate the activities and research we have done so that we can assess whether we have met our targets and reflect back on work we have done. Also to evaluate what we would change about it if there was going to be a next time. Enterprise activity In my opinion I think that our enterprise event was a success in many ways, firstly the sales turnover was a success, as we achieved a higher level of sales then predicted on an excellent day in our sales forecast. When we worked out how much money we were going to earn and how many products we were going to sell, we had a predicted sales turnover of 60 but we achieved a sales turnover of 90, this is excellent and i believe this is down to the location we picked for the stall and it was a reasonably warm day so many people would enjoy a refreshing ice cream. Secondly profit, again we earned more profit than we were predicted and after taking away all the expenses our profit was higher than most groups in our class. Our estimated profit on an excellent day was £24.95 but we reached £64.36, this is £30.41 over what we were expected to make. We had accurate stock in terms of the ice cream and cones as the last scoop of ice cream went to the last person in the queue at the very end of lunch. However the toppings did run out about half way through lunch which I think was down to George as he purchased the flakes and sauces. To overcome this, he should have bought double the...

Business Research Methods 11th Edition Chapter 1 Answer

...2. Applied research has a practical problem-solving emphasis. Applied research applies research to discovering solutions for immediate problems or opportunities. Pure research or basic research is also problem-solving based, but in a different sense. It aims to solve perplexing questions or obtain new knowledge of an experimental or theoretical nature that has little direct or immediate impact on action, performance, or policy decisions. Applied research will find out how compensation (salary or commission) would affect the company revenue. Pure research might study the influence on the sales that pay by commission versus salary. 3. Explanatory research answers the questions of "why" and "how" something happened. It establishes a cause and effect relationship between two variables. Hence, the research explains. For example, the research shows a relationship between the increased presence of police patrols in certain cities versus the reduction of crimes. Predictive research is involved with the forecasting (predicting) of a likelihood of something happening. This research usually begins with, or leading to, finding what will happen, given that some baseline is already known. This research usually involves some form of human behavior decision or condition. For example if we know that teens in intercity schools, aged 13-16, are prone to high dropout rates, predictive research might assess (predict) a relationship between age or gender and not graduating from high......
