The question "Do closed doors male us creative?" implies that creativity and helplessness go hand in hand. In other words, when a door closes in the world another door opens. In my opinion, creativity is born through innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. Evidence to support my viewpoint is pervasive throughout history, business, and philosophy.

For example, take Winston Churchill, the prime minister of England during World War 2. England had faced a handful of blitzkrieg attacks from Nazi, Germany, and had its biggest cities annihilated. The country fell into anarchy and the government began to panic. The Nazis offered an ultimatum; either surrender to Germany or allow they would destroy the entire country. Churchill's trusted advisors all told him to save the country through surrender but Churchill came up with a spur-of-the-moment brilliant idea. When the Nazis attacked, the citizens were to hide underground. This idea saved millions of lives and caused ceasefire between the two countries. Churchill's out-of-the-box thinking allowed him to keep his countrymen safe while …show more content…
Usually, when a computer synthesizes codes of information, it starts from the bottom and decrypts it to the top. This was a more efficient way to process information from the original top-to-bottom ideology. Marshall created a program called the Pied Piper software to recreated data by reading it from the middle out. His new way of processing information doubling the previous record for processing data. This method received a 6.3 on the Herman's scale of efficiency. He sold his brilliant dollar idea to Google and received a handsome sum of money, becoming a legend of the industry. His creative thinking has forever changed the way people process data and had slowed down the impending disaster to befall on us when the world data shortage

Ivf Critical Analysis

...Critical Analysis In Vitro Fertilization August 19, 2009 Marriages can offer new exciting experiences especially when couples want to start developing a family. For some couples pregnancy is simple and their family begins. For others it isn’t so easy, having children becomes a medical challenge and alternative solutions need to be sought out. One such solution for conception involves using the medical advancement of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) techniques. However, for many this raises a whole batch of ethical dilemmas. IVF brings up dilemmas such as the process itself, when does “life” begin, how many eggs to fertilize, and cryopreservation of embryos. It is an especially difficult decision for those of Christian beliefs as IVF is not widely received within the Christian community and not clearly addressed in the Bible. I first want to take a look at the process itself and what leads a couple, or individual, to this decision. Before we start, we need to define what infertility is. According to The Fertility Center (2009), infertility is the “inability for a couple to conceive after one year of normal intercourse with no contraception”. Facing infertility is not as uncommon as one might believe, according to the Center for Disease Control, “approximately 1.2 million women made infertility related appointments in 2002”. In simpler terms, one in six couples faces infertility related issues at some point during their childbearing...

Impact of Childhood Sexual Abuse

...spite of a clear definition for child sexual abuse violence in the lives of children is so real and as an international community we do very little to protect them. There is also a dearth of data to prove the prevalence of violence due to the hidden nature of the abuse and gives a false notion that it is a rare occurrence. Children are vulnerable to sexual victimization because of their age and their ability to perception of abuse. The risks children can be exposed varies across different developmental stages. Other factors like age, emotional state and physical abnormality of the child other than the social and cultural context of the environment increases the risk of the child being exposed to sexual abuse. ...Introduction In 1946, Tide was launched by a US company named Procter & Gamble (P & G). In 1949, Tide has successfully established itself as an international brand. They have a range of products which includes household detergent such as Tide Liquid, Tide Powder and many more (Procter & Gambler 2012). Besides, Tide was not just another laundry product; it is recognized as the washing miracle. It was the first heavy-duty synthetic detergent which revolutionized from the traditional laundry soaps as it does not leave the clothes stiff and dry. Tide has successfully changed the way families did their laundry. This innovation of using synthetic compounds has greatly reduced the time and effort consumers spent while doing their laundry (American Chemical Society 2007). Tide captured more than 30 percent of the laundry market in the early 1950s and therefore emerged to be the top selling detergent (Back to EurekAlert! 2006). 1 Situation Analysis According to Lamb et al. (2012), situational analysis includes SWOT analysis that affects the performance of an organization. Organizational resources such as financial resources, production costs, marketing skills, technology, employee capabilities and brand image should be taken into consideration. Environmental scanning is also essential as it affects the organization’s future as it can help in identifying market opportunities and threats. Additionally, PESTLE analysis will be conducted to analyze the relationship between...

Literary Theory

...Literary Theory and Schools of Criticism Introduction A very basic way of thinking about literary theory is that these ideas act as different lenses critics use to view and talk about art, literature, and even culture. These different lenses allow critics to consider works of art based on certain assumptions within that school of theory. The different lenses also allow critics to focus on particular aspects of a work they consider important. For example, if a critic is working with certain Marxist theories, s/he might focus on how the characters in a story interact based on their economic situation. If a critic is working with post-colonial theories, s/he might consider the same story but look at how characters from colonial powers (Britain, France, and even America) treat characters from, say, Africa or the Caribbean. Hopefully, after reading through and working with the resources in this area of the OWL, literary theory will become a little easier to understand and use. Disclaimer Please note that the schools of literary criticism and their explanations included here are by no means the only ways of distinguishing these separate areas of theory. Indeed, many critics use tools from two or more schools in their work. Some would define differently or greatly expand the (very) general statements given here. Our explanations are meant only as starting places for your own investigation into literary theory. We encourage you to use the list of scholars and works provided for each...

The Life

...The Hunger Games: Action-film feminism is catching fire  Lisa Schwarzbaum Burning up Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen is both strong and vulnerable – a new kind of action heroine who has powered The Hunger Games: Catching fire to a $158m US debut. (Lionsgate) Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen is a new type of female action film icon, and moviegoers should be very excited about that, writes Lisa Schwarzbaum. As Catching Fire ignites on movie screens around the world, this is what we know about the 21st Century heroine called Katniss Everdeen: she is strong but also soft. She is brave but she has doubts. She is a phenomenal fictional creation, yet is real enough that moviegoers can draw inspiration from her values, her resourcefulness, and her very human inner conflicts. And she is played by Jennifer Lawrence, who appears not only to be handling her current duties as Hollywood’s finest model of well-adjusted millennial female stardom but doing so with charm. Everdeen and Lawrence: golden girls both. Personified in Lawrence’s lithe movements and cool, focused gaze, Katniss is a brave, resourceful and independent-minded fighter; but she is also a troubled and vulnerably guilt-ridden human being. Nina Jacobson, the producer of the Hunger Games film franchise, puts it this way: “She is a singular heroine in that the burden of survival weighs on her. She has a ton of survivor’s guilt.  And she keeps surviving.” Girl on fire It is strange that behaving like a well-adjusted...
