Are You Ready, Boots?

Introduction:

Love is blind, that is what “Are You Ready, Boots?” written by Maggie Alderson tells us. It means that we only see the good things and not all the bad things in the man/woman we are in love with. We see the things we want to see and not the things we would rather live without. He/she just seems perfect to you.

The short story is about a woman who one day finds these perfect boots that make her look amazing. She said that these are the boots she is going to be wearing when she meets her husband. And one day she meets Mr. Perfect and she is wearing the boots from that day.
His name is Charlie and he is just perfect. Her friend Spencer doesn’t mean that Charlie is perfect for her. One day Charlie purpose to her and then she realized that he isn’t that perfect as she thought he was, because he said some things about her boots in a way that made her sad. And she found out that Spencer was right.

The body of the essay:

He was seriously handsome with a great tan and floppy blonde hair, and wearing a beautiful suit. He was standing alone in the corner of the restaurant and as I passed I could feel him checking me out when I came out of the ladies, he was still there, still incredibly handsome, still – incredibly – alone, and still looking at me. And I could tell by that look that he definitely wasn’t gay. He wasn’t admiring me dress or my French manicure – he was admiring me. I felt a bit giddy.

We can already at their first sight see that she admires him. She is already started to fall in love with him. She describes him as perfect. He is handsome with a great tan and floppy blonde hair, and wearing a beautiful suit. So she admires his look.
She feels a bit giddy, that could be a sign of her falling in love. She was convinced that he was looking at her and admired her. He was not just looking at her dress. Maybe it

Are You Ready Boots

...1: Characterisation of Lulu. Lulu seems to be self-assured and confident. This comes out it line 3 "Nancy Sinatra eat your heart out" and in line 8 "...all I could do after admiring myself". If she wasn't confident, she would not be admiring her own reflection in the mirror. She is also fashion-conscious, this is shown in the beginning of the story (line 5), when she buys an expensive pair of boots "they weren't just boots - they were actual Manolos". Only people interested in fashion would care if the boots were a brand a not. It also shows in line 11 that she is funny and has a sense of humour. "Grrrr... Copping a vamp pose..." In line 21, she reveals that there are two sides to her. The sensible side and the more pleasure-seeking or maybe irresponsible. "while the sensible side of my brain tried to reason with the champagne-fuddled one" At first she might seems to focus on the exterior, this comes out in line 83-84 "A good looking boyfriend..- Had a Porsche" , however she later reveals a more sensible side in line 133, where she looks beyond "the dashing, handsome exterior" and comes to the realisation that he is a "bigoted bore inside" (l. 134) 2: Comment on the role of the two male characters. In many ways, Spencer and Charlie represent the two sides there are to Lulu's personality. Spencer being the reasonable side by making her see Charlie...

...keep the day flowing smoothly. One day, we were all going to be getting ready to go outside and play, since it was sunny and warm. My co-teacher, who works with the preschoolers, begins to get her children ready to go outside first, since most of them are able to get dressed by themselves. One of the children begins to grab everyone’s boots and coats and throw them into the center of the rug. My co-teacher sees this, gets down at the child’s level, looks him in the eyes, and says, “Why don’t you grab your boots and coat instead? Your friends are able to find theirs when they have finished using the bathroom.” This child then said, “But I can’t find them!” So my co-teacher then said, “Well, have you checked in your bag? I think I see a sleeve sticking out.” The boy looked up at her, smiled, and went and found his boots and coat and proceeded to put them on. My co-teacher then proceeded to tell the children to sit down on the rug and wait for their names to be called to line up at the door to go outside. When one of the children tried to go before their name was called, my co-teacher explained to him, “I’m sorry, but I did not call your name yet. You need to wait until you hear your name before you may line up.” One thing I really notice, if the use of clear positive directions, especially when it comes to transitions – this one in particular, where you have many children trying to get themselves ready to go outside and work off some energy, and some children can become...

To confirm what version of Windows you are running, go to My Computer and click on “System properties.” The listed version should be Windows 7. From that same screen, you should see how much free space you have left, which is underneath the blue bar for each disk. In the example image, there is "8.49 GB free of 55.7GB". NOTE: The 8.49GB shown in the example is not enough space for most people. A Home Away from Home

...Jessica Ganzermiller ENG101 Kambui 3/21/11 A Home away from Home I was ready or as ready as I could have been to take on the twenty six thousand detainees of Camp Bucca Iraq, the largest detention facility in the world. As I stepped off the plane; suddenly hit by the nearly unbearable One hundred forty seven degree heat. My boots were tightly laced ID tag on my left and Boot knife on the right. Eighty pounds of protective gear; Bullet proof vest with survival tools and pouches of ammo strapped to the front, helmet with my name and blood type so if my head were to blown off the would know it was mine, my ruck sac strapped to my back full of the bare essentials; weapons cleaning kit, 2 uniforms, hygiene items, extra boots, a sheet, a towel and a wash cloth; ready for a mission I had been trained for, but little did I know all the training in the world could not have prepared me for what I was up against. In fear I could not help but to wonder if this flight had been my last. This was going to be a fifteen month trip that would change my life forever. This was not just a mission assignment for the military; it was my personal road to self- discovery. We arrived in Kuwait; this place was not like any place I had been before. The fine sand whimsically disappeared as the drifting air carried it away. One place that had once been a place of calm reflection; was now a place where war death and hatred lurked in the air. “Formation” yells my Platoon Sargent in his newly pressed uniform...
