Dairy is Scary Do you use dairy products? Or do you know what the major dairy farms look like? In the past, parents always had their children drink milk at least once a day so their bones could grow strong. But do you know how the farmers get the milk from the cows? For some people the process is disturbing. Therefore, they are pro nondairy products. For others, not having dairy in their body benefits their health and digestive system. To start off, a main reason why people do not use dairy products is because of how the dairy industry works. When a calf is born, they are taken away from their mother at the early age of only one day old, if not immediately (PETA). After the …show more content…
Cow’s milk is suited for their calves, who have four stomachs and who can gain 100 pounds within months (PETA). Sometimes calves can end up weighing over 2,000 pounds before they are even two years old (PETA). Cow’s milk; however, is not natural for human beings though. Also, non-dairy milk is cholesterol-free. Other than skim milk, dairy milk contains cholesterol and skim milk is high in lactose (McClees, Heather). Since non-dairy milk is plant based and cholesterol free, your body will be able to produce enough cholesterol, therefore you will not need to have extra cholesterol from animals’ milk (McClees, Heather). A main reason why people go dairy free is so they will have a better digestive system (McClees, Heather). As mentioned earlier, a cow’s milk is made for their calves because of their strong stomachs. Humans should not be drinking something that is not made for their body cannot handle (PETA). The best thing about non-dairy milk is that it is cruelty free. Drinking non-dairy milk does not harm humans’ bodies and it also does not harm the cow’s (McClees, Heather).
A lot of people choose not to eat beef because they know that the cows are harmed to get the meat. People do not think that getting milk from a cow is doing any harm to it. Just because the dairy cows are not killed to get what the farmers need, does not mean that the cows do not get tortured in the process of producing milk. Most of the population has no idea that dairy cows are harmed and eventually killed when they produce milk for
