IPRO # _______________________ Faculty Advisor_______________________

Through your project plans, midterm reports, final reports, and other written deliverables you will produce as a part of completing your IPRO project, we will gather a lot of information about what your IPRO team does this semester. The individual reporting process is intended to get a better idea of your individual experience. In these reports, we are asking you to “speak for yourself.”

Please answer these questions in a Microsoft Word document and upload the file to the Secure Dropbox in iGroups. Your faculty advisor may also request that you give him or her a printed copy of this assignment.

1. In your Individual Plan Report, you identified the overall problem of your IPRO project. Since submitting your Individual Plan Report, what accomplishments have you personally made that will contribute to eventually solving the overall problem of your IPRO project? How far did you get in solving this problem, and what are the next steps in solving the problem?

2. Have you reached the goals you set for yourself in your Individual Plan Report? Why or why not?

3. Even in teams that communicate well, there is always room for improvement. What could you have personally done to improve the communication in your team, and how can you improve your own communication skills?

4. Some IPRO teams work well together, and some don’t. How well did your team work together, and how could you have made your team work better together?

5. Please describe the most important ethical problem your IPRO team has encountered so far. What was the issue and what was the outcome? According to your text, The Seven Layers of Integrity, which sets of standards dictate that this is an ethical problem (the law, community standards, your own moral values, etc.)? There is probably more than just one layer that defines your problem as an ethical issue, so please identify at least two.

6. Please answer the following questions about the situation you described in the previous question (Question 5): a. What are the possible choices you could have made in this situation? b. Of all the possible choices you could have made, do you think there is a correct or an incorrect choice? c. If yes, which choice is correct, and why? d. If no, can you say that some choices are better than others? How can you tell?

7. In your Individual Plan Report, we asked you to explain why your project was important. Why might someone else argue that your project is not important outside IIT, and can you ever be sure if either argument is correct?

8. Imagine that you are starting this IPRO all over again. What changes would you make to your own performance or your own circumstances to make the IPRO better for you and your team? Aside from personal factors, what else would you change?

9. Any other comments?

...When looking at the example of “Friedmans microwave and Kitchen Specialists”, I tend to see elements from all of the leadership styles listed in question one. The University of Iowa which promotes the Democratic Leadership style contains the most elements of Art Friedman’s new direction for his company. Allowing the workers to control their scheduling, pay, discipline nearly all issues concerning their employment is the essence of a Democratic Leadership style. Now the University of Michigan and Ohio State leadership theories are essentially the same idea with a different application procedure. Art Friedman’s new leadership style is without question an employee centered leadership style, present in both Michigan and Ohio States theories. However where I am conflicted by the competing theories in regards to Friedman’s Microwave is if the Michigan/Ohio State business style allow for a democratically controlled employee scheduling, pay, merit etc. 2. Without question Content Motivation theories are at play in our case study concerning Art Friedman’s employees. Unfortunately I feel we are not given enough information to fully answer the question as it is proposed. We are not told why Friedman’s employees production was lackluster. Was the previous management style highly autocratic? Were lower level employees concerns and suggestions routinely ignored? Perhaps so. I will use the assumption that Friedman’s employees were not empowered under the previous management scenario. If we...

...In Islam there is no conflict between matter and soul, as there is no separation between economy and religion. Although Islamic economics is young in comparison with conventional economics, its characteristics, value and essence are appreciated by Muslims and the non-Muslims. The over-arching values of Islamic economics lie in the principle that it is an economic strategy that can achieve unity and harmony between the material and the spiritual life of the people. To ensure the true well-being of all individuals, irrespective of their sex, age, race, religion and wealth, Islamic economics does not seek to abolish private property, a practice done by communism, nor does it prevent individuals from serving their self-interest. It recognizes the role of the market forces in the efficient allocation of resources. It seeks to promote brotherhood, socio-economic justice and well-being of all through an integrated role of moral values, market mechanism and good governance. The differences between conventional and Islamic economics are as listed below. 1. The Role of Moral Values While conventional economics generally considers the behavior, tastes and preferences of individuals as given, Islamic economics does not do so. It places great emphasis on individual and social reforms through moral uplift. This is purportedly to be the purpose for which God’s messengers have come to this world. Moral uplift aims at changing the behavior, tastes and preferences of the individuals,......

...Business case analysis BCA can be defined as a decision support and planning tool that projects the likely financial results and other business consequences of an action. The analysis essentially asks “What happens if we take this or that action?" The analysis answers in business terms—business costs, business benefits, and business risks. The word case in the term signals that BCA results are often used with proposals, or arguments, to “make the case” for taking action or for choosing one decision option over another. The shorter term, business case, can be defined as a recommendation for action based on BCA results. Some business people use the terms cost benefit analyis, financial justification, total cost of ownership, or return on investment analysis to emphasize the special purpose of the study, though what is usually meant by these terms fits the business case analysis (BCA) definition above. While all are essentially "business cases," decision makers and analysts should remember that none of these terms is supported by universally agreed standards. Individual organizations and companies sometimes establish their own standards for content, structure, and the case building process, but cases built elsewhere, under other local standards, can be quite different. Business case results support decision making and planning, but they also provide valuable guidance for managing and controlling projects, programs, or the life cycle of assets. Good case analysis, for......

...Associate Level Material Appendix G Ethical Actions Worksheet Write a 100- to 150-word response to each of the following questions: • Was there anything in either the University of Phoenix Student Code of Conduct or the Student Code of Academic Integrity that surprised you? If so, what was it? Why were you surprised? If not, why not? The thing that really surprised me was the self-plagiarism because when I have heard of someone being in trouble for plagiarism it’s always been when they were copying someone else’s where and saying it was your own. Other than that one I was not really surprise by the code of arms because with the college being online I understand why some of the rules are the way they are. I personally really like being able to use my documents from the previous weeks and the reading on my test because I have a really bad memory and it really helps to be able to go back and look. • What did you learn about the behaviors considered important for an ethical learner or student in the University of Phoenix learning community? What I really learned to understand about others is that everyone as their own opinion on a topic and just because another doesn’t have the same point of view as you does not always means that they are wrong it just means that they are an individual. It is very important to treat others with respect because if you don’t they have every right to treat you just the same. I know that I try to be very respectful......

...Motion: Everyone should be an organ donor upon their deaths, unless they specifically say otherwise. I am in favor of this motion because with applying this new rule we can save human life's, and not just a couple life's, we are talking about more than 1300 people in Holland who are very sick right now and are already waiting for an organ for multiple years. These people will die if they won t receive an organ. First of all you don't need any organs if you are buried under the ground, by donating these organs you safe a human life and maybe even multiple life's. Second of all the majority (a lot of people) thinks positive about donating organs, which is a good thing. But people are simply too lazy to fill in one piece of paper to confirm that they want to be an organ donor. Another thing that happens is that they just forget to sign this paper, which is quite normal since we are very busy and have so much on our mind right now. Do we perform at our jobs, how is the family going, can we still meet with friends and to what destination should we go on vacation. There are of course exceptions, we do have organ donors but unfortunately this is not enough to give everybody the help they need. By implementing this new rule we would have enough organ donors and everybody can be saved in time. Besides if someone is really against being an organ donor they can get there selfs of the list. And last but not least, if you would be very sick laying in the hospital needing new organs...

...Acquisition Of Caliber Systems In 1998 By FedEx Corporation In the year 1998, FedEx took a big leap in context to its diversification by acquiring Caliber System Inc. As a result of this, five subsidiary companies were formed: Federal Express, RPS, Roberts Express, Viking Freight and FDX Logistics. Apart from Federal Express, all the other four were the part of Caliber System and all were managed independently. The logistics operations of both FedEx and Caliber were different as differed in customer bases and service offerings. Caliber was expertise in providing an elaborate logistics operation focusing mainly on high priced goods industries such as moving raw materials, managing work-in-progress, manufacturing of cars and fork-lift trucks etc. Federal Logistics and Electronic Commerce (FLEC) before the acquisition was not able to provide complete supply chain solution because they just focused on finished goods and reverse logistics. But, the acquisition led FLEC to put there hands into areas like warehousing and transportation apart from the basic logistics functions. Later, Caliber became apart of FDX Logistics and FLEC continued as a division under Federal Express. The burden which this acquisition brought along with it to the company was that, the company has to loose its image of just being an express delivery company. The challenge was that all the critics including the customer related the FedEx brand just with transportation. One solution to this challenge was......

...People say that if you change the past, it can dramatically change the future. Some say this can be done by killing a little bug. In Bradbury’s “Sound of Thunder” the theme is even the most insignificant action can have huge repercussions. Traveling back to the prehistoric times is very dangerous. For example, Eckels stepped off the path and stepped on a butterfly. This shows that killing the butterfly caused a ripple effect, dramatically affecting the future. This also shows that the smallest things can change the future. In addition, killing a certain animal could wipe out colonies of animals. This shows that by killing the butterfly there is a different president, spelling is different, and the man at the desk is changed. This also shows that killing animals in the past not only effects the animal environment, but the human environment too. Killing the butterfly and changing the future is known as the Butterfly Effect from this story. In the story, the character Eckels is a trophy hunter, who hunts for a thrill, when he finds out about TIME SAFARI INC., when he travels back in time to hunt a dinosaur. For example, Eckels and the Guides travel back to kill the dinosaur that was bound to die anyways by a falling tree. This shows that one of the guides went back before they were there to mark the dinosaur with a big red X. This also shows that the dinosaur was already going to die, so it wouldn’t affect the future. In addition Eckels got scared...

...Plastics play an important role in almost every aspect of our lives. Plastics are used to manufacture everyday products such as beverage containers, toys, and furniture. The widespread use of plastics demands proper end of life management. Plastics make up almost 13 percent of the municipal solid waste stream, a dramatic increase from 1960, when plastics were less than one percent of the waste stream. The largest amount of plastics is found in containers and packaging (e.g., soft drink bottles, lids, shampoo bottles), but they also are found in durable (e.g., appliances, furniture) and nondurable goods (e.g., diapers, trash bags, cups and utensils, medical devices). The recycling rate for different types of plastic varies greatly, resulting in an overall plastics recycling rate of only 9 percent, or 2.8 million tons in 2012. However, the recycling rate for some plastic products is much higher, for example in 2012, 28 percent of HDPE bottles and 31 percent of PET bottles and jars were recycled. Just the Facts * 32 million tons of plastic waste were generated in 2012, representing 12.7 percent of total MSW. * In 2012, the United States generated almost 14 million tons of plastics as containers and packaging, about 11 million tons as durable goods such as appliances, and almost 7 million tons as nondurable goods, such as plates and cups. * Only 9 percent of the total plastic waste generated in 2012 was recovered for recycling. * In 2012, the category of plastics......
