Networking Night Alternative Activities

I’m sorry that you were not able to attend the 2014 Networking Night Event, which was required for Spring 2014 and Fall 2014 College of Business Students. Our COB records indicate that you are part of that cohort. The event this year had three distinct outcomes.

1. To become familiar with the 56 organizations in attendance. 2. To learn about different types of networking, the importance of networking in a business professional’s life, and taking the time to set your own personal networking goals. 3. To put your networking skills into action, test them out, and improve your skills.

Since you were unable to attend Networking Night, you will need to fulfill these three objectives in alternate ways. While there is no way to replicate this event or the experience attendees had, we have provided guidelines so you can achieve similar objectives.

Outcome #1- To become familiar with the 56 organizations in attendance.
To achieve this outcome, you will need to interact with organizations and/or do research on them. Review the organizations that were in attendance at Networking Night at: http://www.uwosh.edu/cob/undergraduate/development/events/networking-night

Submit an overview that addresses the following: 1. What 5 organizations did you pick to learn about? 2. How did you go about finding the information? 3. Provide the following information on each of the 5 organizations in a bullet format: a. Name of organization b. Location(s) c. Main business operations (what do they do?) d. Name of recruiting contact that you could reach out to e. Types of positions they recruit for (functions, internship and/or fulltime)

Outcome #2- To learn about different types of networking, the importance of networking in a business professional’s life, and taking the time…...

...Centralized Operations at North Campus Research Complex (NCRC): 1600 Huron River Drive, Ann Arbor, Michigan (visiting); 2800 Plymouth Road – Building 400, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109-2800 (mailing). In 2009, the University of Michigan purchased a 174-acre, 30-building research campus formerly occupied by Pfizer. The campus includes research laboratories, research and administrative office space, collaboration and training venues, and a cGMP manufacturing facility. This purchase provides an unprecedented opportunity for the creation of a transformational, interdisciplinary research campus. MICHR played a leading role in the creation of this new campus by being "pioneers" - MICHR clinical research service staff were among the first occupants of the new campus and are now co-located with the IRB, clinical research billing, Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office staff, and many others, creating a clinical research administration "hub" allowing an unprecedented level of communication, collaboration, and sharing of best practices between these entities. MCRU Distributed Research Performance Sites: The Michigan Clinical Research Unit (MCRU) is currently located in three discrete areas. The main performance site is on level 1 in the UMHS Cardiovascular Center (CVC). The Domino's Farms extension is located approximately four miles from the hospital in northeast Ann Arbor. The Rachel Upjohn Building extension is on the East Ann Arbor Medical Center Campus. The MCRU facility in the......

...! “Wrong Timings, Mixed Signals, and the Great Wall of China” Have you ever wanted something? And I mean REALLY wanted it? More than wanting that Hogwarts letter to arrive via owl courier service. More than you wanting to somehow unread and “unwatch” the Twilight Saga. But then, the stars just won’t align for you and you feel like you are the only exception to the “happily ever after” everyone is supposedly entitled to? More often than not, these feelings are attributed to troubles of the heart and that’s what we’re going to discuss in this article. DISCLAIMER: Sorry folks but you’re not going to find advice or love wisdom in this article. This is solely meant for ranting and if you’re interested in that, well then, be my guest. ! First order of business: wrong timings. When one is single, the other is taken. When one is ready for something serious, the other just isn’t. One word: FRUSTRATING. This makes you want to go home to mama bear and throw a tantrum then cry afterwards. You actually wish someone would just pop their head in and say, “Oops! We just had a slight mistake in scheduling your lives. We will fix that right up for ya. Here’s a pie! ”. But noooo. Instead, they will tell you, “If you guys are meant to be together, then in the future you will find your way back to each other.” or “In another time, another place, maybe.” and my all-time favorite, “All this is part of God’s great plan for you”. Yes, you appreciate the effort to cheer you up but frankly, it...
