Assignment #1 Public Administration- the Good, The Bad, The ugly William T. Thompson Prof. Neely PAD 500 Modern public Administration: Managing Public and nonprofit Organizations

To understand how to solve a problem, we must first understand what we are trying to fix. For example, can a carpenter without any medical experience repair a heart valve? Of course not, he or she must first obtain the proper education necessary to perform such a complex operation. The same can be said about the American education system.
Throughout America’s history parents, educators, and government officials have been debating what changes must be implemented for American children to receive every opportunity possible to gain an education that will prepare them for the future. the one type of public policy the education system would be suited for is by way of distributive polices because “ of its most common form of government policy where it uses general tax revenues to provide benefits to individuals or groups, often by means of grants or subsidies and other educational assistance”(blanc,denhardt,denhardt,2014,pg.55). The educational system in our country has changed over the years to accommodate all students with special needs and learning disabilities’ will touch on two (2) positive programs and two (2) negative programs. ...Language Myths Language Myths: My own LA-reading journal. 1. Myth 2: "Some Languages Are Just Not Good Enough" by Ray Harlow Some people have the idea that some languages are just not good enough. They believe this for several different reasons, it is because  the language is not structured in terms of forming words, the language doesn't contain enough compounds and it can't be used as official language in areas such as administration, business communication, international air traffic etc. Sometimes people dislike a certain language because they think it is ugly. I disagree with this myth. I believe that every language is precious to the people who speak the language. Harlow says: ‘Most languages are the first language of some community and serve the everyday functions of that community perfectly well.’  Communication is the most important aspect of a language. If a language serves this purpose it is good enough. 2. Myth 5: "English Spelling Is Kattastroffik" by Edward Carney Edward Carney believes that people shouldn't blame the English spelling system just because there are more speech- sounds than letters in English spelling. It is important to separate sounds and letters in English spelling. After studying Phonetics, spelling and pronunciation became easier for me. I learnt that one speech-sound can have different spelling and that one spelling may stand for different speech-sounds. Sounds very complicated at first, but after a while I started to understand why. This...

...PROJECT TOPIC The effect of early school leaving on young people between the ages of 15 or more both physically, mentally, emotionally, economically and socially. DEFINITION For a better understanding of the topic of discourse, a clear definition of what early school leaving means is pertinent. Though there is no clear cut definition, the consideration of definitions of the term by the European Union, EU, in relation to the definitions by other countries like USA, Canada will enhance the understanding of the topic. The USA, Canada and the OECD define early school leaving in similar ways, and all differ from the EU definition. In the USA, early school leavers, "drop outs", are those who have not graduated from High School. This focus has a number of benefits. The single benchmark, attainment of a High School Diploma, covers the whole of the US education system and provides a clear idea of what the outcome of compensatory policy would be: get young people re-enrolled and graduated if and when they drop out. Policy in the US is based on clarity of definition and measurement of the problem. RATIONALE: The importance of this topic can never be overemphasized because it is dealing on a topic that has been a recurrence decimal in the society and has had dire effects on the society. This topic is important to explore because it explains the reasons why young people leave school early without completing their leaving certificate and also explains the different problems and......

These are not templates (no essay can be a carbon copy of another even in form), but they will give you a good idea of what a final piece of writing for each mode of discourse looks like. It would be advantageous to critically analyze the form and content of each sample against the instruction for how to write each type of essay. chapter 21 expository essays Jennifer propp An expository essay explains something using facts rather than opinions. The purpose of this type of essay is to inform an audience about a subject. It is not intended to persuade or present an argument of any kind. Writing this type of essay is a good way to learn about all the different perspectives on a topic. Many students use the expository essay to explore a variety of topics, and do so in a wide range of formats, including “process” and “definition” essays. Who Is the Intended AudIence for An exposItory essAy? The audience for an expository essay is a general one, and can vary widely depending upon the topic chosen. Keeping this in mind, students should compose their essays to reach a broad selection of readers.
