Six Dimensions of Health Worksheet

Part 1

For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions.

Physical health: Exercise at least five days a week. Physical fitness has to be up to par to stay in the military. I usually watch my diet because I am not as young as I use to be.

Social health: Right now I really do not have a social life. It might not be healthy but I guess I do it to protect myself. Having to move around a lot does not allow me to build the friendships that I am looking for.

Intellectual health: Being in the military sometimes requires critical thinking to complete a mission. Many times it’s accomplishing a mission that you have already done. I usually refer back to those past missions and put together the pieces that I need to accomplish the new one. I take to account failures and successes of my past missions and use it for the current one. I also take in to account other people’s failures and successes.

Environmental health: I try to surround myself with people I can learn from. At the beginning of my career I use to hang out with soldiers who were not looking to approve themselves and just got into trouble. Once my son was born, I knew the life had to change. I decided to work on bettering myself to be a better role model for my son. To that, I needed people who will not derail me into another direction.

Emotional health: My wife is someone who needs to hear “I love you” most of the time. She does admit that I choose the perfect times to tell her that I love her. I finally convinced her that if I say it all the time, it will become repetitive and eventually have no meaning anymore.

Spiritual health My belief in life is being positive about everything. Having positive thinking will attract positive outcomes. If I say I can do it, it will happen. It still takes some work but I will continue to build myself to be positive as much as I can.

Part 2

In approximately 125 to 200 words, describe health and wellness in your own words using the ideas and concepts for each of the six dimensions of health.3

For someone to be completely healthy, you have to be healthy physically. Being healthy physically means you are physically fit and not have any kind of disease or sickness. To be completely healthy you also have to look how you feel emotionally. People usually express themselves the way that they feel emotionally, if there are feeling upset that is the way they are going to react to any situation or start of conversation. Knowing how to control how you express yourself regardless how you feeling are a way to understand how your emotional health is. Spiritual health is also an important aspect of your health and well-being. Believe in something that is bigger than you lead you to try and reach that high being. It also gives you goals. Your intellectual health allows you to learn from your mistakes and success to become the person your will eventually become. Environment health is simply what you surround your life with. Social health is having friends and family or someone to have fun with, speak about your problems to, and listen to someone else problems.

Week 1 Assignment 1

...Week 1 Assignment 1 Michael Conley ITT Technical Institute Abstract This paper will be identifying, analyzing, and explaining five likely threat/vulnerabilities for the scenario given. I will go into detail on what you should do to lower the risk or vulnerability. The last thing I will talk about in this paper is what you should do to try and make it better and more secure. There are definitely some potential risks and vulnerabilities with the given scenario. The first one to point out would be that they are using Windows Vista. Another issue is the VPN connection with the laptops. Issue number three would be the servers. The fourth problem I foresee is back up. The final problem I see in the network is with the ISP. This is not a very old and outdated OS, since Microsoft is still supporting it, but there are more vulnerabilities with using Vista as opposed to Windows 7. Windows 7 is also more versatile, it is able to be run on more than just desktops unlike Vista. Windows 7 is able to be used on laptops, desktops, and netbooks which Vista cannot be used on all of those. Windows 7 puts all of the security notifications and other system problems in one place unlike Vista where you have to search through the control panel to find things. Windows 7 you just go to the action center. The likelihood of there being a serious security issue with windows Vista is low for right now.......

Mat222 Week 1 Assignment.

...Solving Proportions MAT222 Week 1 Assignment September 22, 2014 Solving Proportions Solving for a proportion can be used within numerous real-world problems, such as finding the population of an area. Conservationists are able to predict the population of bear’s in their area by comparing information collected from two experiments. In this problem, 50 bears in Keweenaw Peninsula were tagged and released so conservationists could estimate the bear population. One year later, the conservationist took random samples of 100 bears from the same area, proportions are able to be used in order to determine Keweenaw Peninsula’s bear population. “To estimate the size of the bear population on the Keweenaw Peninsula, conservationists captured, tagged, and released 50 bears. One year later, a random sample of 100 bears included only 2 tagged bears. What is the conservationist’s estimate of the size of the bear population (Dugolpolski, 2012)?” In order to figure the estimated population, some variables need to first be defined and explain the rules for solving proportions. The ratio of originally tagged bears to the entire population is (50/x). The ratio of recaptured tagged bears to the sample size is (2/100). 50x=2100 is how the proportion is set up and is now ready to be solved. Cross multiplication is necessary for this problem. The extremes are (100) and (50). The means are (x) and (2). 100(50)=2x New equation, and now solve for (x). 50002=2x2 Divide......

Beh225 Week 1 Assignment

...BEH/225 Week 1 Assignment 3/13/15 BEH/225 Week 1 Assignment Psychology has been around ever since someone wondered why someone else did something, so basically a very, very long time. Psychology as its own science, however, has only existed for about two centuries. Wilhelm Wundt is credited as being the first psychologist and is known as the “father of psychology” (Coon, 2013). This was done when he set up his own lab where he could monitor people’s reactions to different stimuli (Coon, 2013). He insisted on using a strict routine for observing and noting these reactions (Coon, 2013). His doing so is what began to separate psychology as its own science. There are many perspectives in psychology that can explain human behavior. On some levels there is a Pavlovian response to certain things, we learned not to touch things that are hot because we will be burned or that we shouldn’t stick out tongues to something metal in the winter time. This is a conditioned response to a stimulus which is a perspective first adopted by Ivan Pavlov, who was a physiologist, but it can help explain some behaviors (Coon, 2013) Sigmund Freud suggested that our unconscious mind determines our actions and behaviors (Coon, 2103). These are but two of the many perspectives that can help to explain human behavior. On the subject of nature (genetic potential) vs. nurture (environmental influences) vs, personal choice, I feel that I sit at the center divergence point of all three. I feel......

Describe the function and characteristics of a network operating system (NOS). (Minimum word count: 100) A network operating system (NOS) manages the resources used within the network and enebles select services to select nodes. A NOS consists of two main components: a server component and a client component. The server component is the most complex component that runs on the server. The server component can do many things, to include; manage multiple users, provide access to files and printers, provide internet access, and enforce network security protocols. The client component runs on the client machine and enables the client to participate on the network. A NOS client......

What are the main architectural components of a LAN? (Minimum word count: 60) The main architectural components of any LAN starts with the layout for how the nodes connect, the access method (which is how the node gain access to a transmission medium), the transmission technique (which is how the information passes through the network), transmission media (which is defined by either wired or wireless connections), the use of very specific protocols (which are sets of rules that define how the computers communicate and define the LANs interconnectivity), which then determines how the LAN shares information. 2. Describe the function and characteristics of a network operating system (NOS). (Minimum word count: 100) One of the biggest differences between a Network Operating System and a regular operating system is that unlike the OS which can run a single computer, the Network Operating System can run multiple computer on a network at once and allow the network to continue running. The Network Operating System is an essential element of the LAN that can consist of server components and a client component. The server components have multiple responsibilities that can range from managing multiple users on a network, providing access to......

Week 1 Individual Assignment

...Week 1 Individual Assignment Law 421 Week 1 Individual Assignment Law plays a vital role in the success and functionality of businesses and society. The word law is defined as “the binding rules of conduct meant to enforce justice and prescribe duty or obligation, and derived largely from custom or formal enactment by a ruler or legislature” (“Law”, n.d.). Laws are put in place to help regulate and to provide a certain set of structure. The central function and role of the law in business and society is to guarantee that there will be peace and freedom within a specified context. It must be clearly stated within the bylaws of a certain company rules and regulations or by the courts of a state. The law accomplishes these throughout the formation of course of action and guidelines for various monetary relationships and connections. There are two systems in law in which a crime can be placed under and they are either civil or criminal. The two systems both play an important role in the way a crime is catergorized. “Small businesses must comply with the same rules and regulations that apply to large companies and thus need someone with legal expertise from time to time” (Hamel, n.d.). When it comes to the laws of business, there are a set of guidelines that lets citizens and its workers know what they can and cannot do in that particular place of business. In my line of business as a foreclosure specialist, we have to follow a specific set of rules that are stated in our......

The ratio of originally tagged bears to the whole population is 50X The ration of recaptured tagged bears to the sample size is 2100 50X=2100 This is the proportion set up and ready to solve. I will cross multiply setting the extremes equal to the means. 10050=2x 100and 50 are the extremes, while X and 2 are the means. 50002=2x2 Divide both sides by 2 X = 2500 The bear population on the Keweenaw Peninsula is around 2500 bears. The second problem for assignment one week one I am asked to solve the below equation for y. The first thing I notice is that a single fraction (ratio) on both sides of the equal sign so basically it is a proportion which can be solved by cross multiplying the extremes and the means. y-1x+3=-34 Is the equation I am asked to solve. 3y-1=-3x-4 The result of the cross multiplying. 3y-3=-3x+12 Distribute 3 on the left side and -3 on the right. 3y-3+3=-3x+12+3 Subtract 3 from both sides. 3y=-3x+15 3y3=-3x3+153 Divide both sides by 3 y=-x+5 This is a linear equation in the form of y=mx+b. Week 4 Assignment 1

...Week 4 Assignment #1 Me’Shaw A. Taylor Dr. Anne Keyes REL 212 4/29/12 Discuss the criteria you will employ to determine if people on earth are religious — in other words, what does religion look like? Religion is a collection of cultural systems, belief systems, and worldviews that relate humanity to spirituality and sometimes, to moral values (Talal, 1982). Religions most notably are represented by symbols, stories, traditions or anything that tends to explain the meaning of life or the creation of earth and its beings. Each religion has its take on morality, ethics, religious laws, and lifestyle. Many religions have determined behaviors which include meetings or worship services. During these services they are worshipping their deity or praying to him or her. In observing religion, you may also see other services that members may be involved in which include sacrifices, revivals, feasts or dinners, initiations, funerals, marriage ceremonies, meditations, music, dances, and art. Describe three (3) examples of behaviors or beliefs you observe that meet the criteria you established above. 1. Baptism is a Christian rite or ceremony that Christians participate in. It is a form of rebirth and it done by water and the Holy Spirit. 2. Ramadan is another belief for Muslims which is a month of fasting in which they refrain from eating or drinking during the daytime. It is practiced to teach members about patience and submissiveness to their god. 3.......

Week 1 Individual Assignment

...Week 1 Individual Assignment ECO/365 Week 1 Individual Assignment The article that I have read for this week’s assignment was called “Why has US Oil Consumption Steadily Fallen Since 2004” The author, Gail Tverberg; suggest several reasons for the decline in gasoline sales since 2004. The author explains that she used the year 2004 as a baseline because it is the year that America could visually see the significant increases in gas and oil prices. One of the factors the author mentions is improvements in mileage and fuel efficiency on new vehicles manufactured. Another factor decreased usage because of fewer miles traveled for personal and business uses. The author suggests that the biggest reason for the decline in gas use is due to the lack of production for “Other” gas/oil products due to manufacturing material changes, and the overall decline of manufacturing in the United States. (Tverberg, 2013) The author state that between 2004 and 2012 gasoline consumption is down about 347,000 barrels a day. The author further state that of the 347,000 barrels per day 43,000 of those barrels are due to more efficiency in gas mileage on newly produced vehicles (Tverberg, 2013). Included in this figure are hybrid vehicles that use a combination alternative fuel and gasoline. The author goes on to state that outside of improved gas efficiency the majority of the decline in gas/oil usage comes from shrinkage in industrial activity. This has caused a reduction in miles......

Ilab Week 1 Assignment

...iLab week 1 Assignment Lab Report: I. Seperation of a Salt Water Solution Lab II. Introduction In this lab scenario, we were asked to determine the percentage of salt present in a saltwater solution. We are able to reach a conclusion in the lab due to certain chemical properties of water and salt. One main property is that water has a significantly lower boiling point in comparison to the salt in the mixture. III. Procedure First we obtained a 250ml beaker as well as an electronic scale in grams (g) and a Bunsen burner. After weighing the empty glass, we applied the saltwater solution and weighed the beaker again. Then we evaporated the water by placing the beaker on the Bunsen burner. Then we were able to determine the amount of salt present by weighing the beaker contents. IV. Observations and Results Contents | Mass | . Beaker (control) | 75.000g | .Beaker + mixture | 85.175g | .Beaker + salt | 75.175g | . Salt | 0.175g | .water | 10.000g | Percentage of Salt in Mixture | %1.75 | V. Discussion This, in my opinion, is a good Lab to start with. The results seem logical and the lab does a good job of demonstrating the proper application of the scientific method as well as the properties of saltwater mixtures. It also showed good basic practices to use during experimentation like the use of a control group , and measuring and recording data throughout the process VI. Conclusion The......
