Atlanta United Found Its New Home In DeKalb County

Atlanta United has already made the site in DeKalb County its new home.

According to the news reported by the Atlanta United FC, On Tuesday, DeKalb Interim CEO Lee May and members of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners officially confirmed on Tuesday that the headquarters and training facility of the Atlanta United will soon rise on DeKalb County.

A warm welcome was served by May to their new partner saying:

“We are excited to have Atlanta United FC as the cornerstone of our new “Downtown DeKalb” and as the catalyst for revitalization of the Memorial Drive corridor,” “Not many people know this, but this location is right across the street from the first Home Depot store. In a way, this is a homecoming, and DeKalb County welcomes Arthur Blank back home with open arms.”

The economic development facility would be 41 acres of county-owned land lies near Kensington Road and Memorial Drive. The project will be provided by the DeKalb County via ground lease to Decide DeKalb. And a demolition will be made to those existing buildings that are no longer useful to county assets----Decide DeKalb will be in charge of it. Decide DeKalb will be also responsible in some land preparations of the property.

According to the news reported by the AJC.com, the soccer complex project costs for about $30 million which was made possible by the vote of 4-3 from the DeKalb County Commission.

Atlanta United will construct a stadium that features a 3,500-seat capacity, three practice fields and a two story team headquarters behind the DeKalb Jail.

6,000 square feet of office space will cost $7 million and $5 million for land preparation all of this is under the deal. It was also reported that Atlanta United can use the land even without paying the property taxes for 30 years before it reverts back to the country.
