Audience Analysis
When addressing an audience while giving a report, a class, a conference or any kind of speech, one must take into consideration what type of person or persons are being addressed and which type of information is or should be given. Different audiences require different deliveries and different types of information. Taking into account the requirements of this essay, we will focus on the three types of audiences and one type of information. Our scenario revolves around a quarterly sales report given to managers, salespersons and customers.
The managers are an audience that pretty much needs to know everything about sales, to include actual sales and projections, sales quotas and salespersons performance and shortcomings. They should also have knowledge of salespersons productivity reports. In addition managers should have information regarding products, prices, special sales and the results and performance of each. The managers are responsible for the quality of the sales staff, and some of the information given in the Quarterly Sales Report could be deemed as confidential and only for the eyes of the management team.
As far as salespersons is concerned, they should only have information about new products, changes in pricing and descriptions of old products, what is being sold, prices and special sales offers and, if provided, information and demographics regarding the customers. The information given to the sales staff should be able to impart confidence about the products being sold and this confidence can only be obtained by having as much sales information as possible. In turn the sales staff, with their knowledge should help the marketing staff in their efforts to sale the products to through the many marketing mediums.
The customers should only be

In this paper I will discuss the distinctiveness of an audience that would be required if I was presenting a quarterly sales information meeting to a group of stakeholders, which would also include the managers, sales people and its customers. I will also be discussing the communication channels that would be most suitable for specific meetings and some concerns that I may need to keep in mind because of the diversity of the audience attending the meeting.
