Overview of Riordan Manufacturing

Riordan Manufacturing is a global plastics manufacturer employing 550 people with projected annual earnings of $46 million. The company is wholly owned by Riordan Industries, a Fortune 1000 enterprise with revenues in excess of $1 billion.
Its product include plastic beverage containers produced at its plant in Albany, Georgia, custom plastic parts produced at its plant in Pontiac, Michigan, and plastic fan parts produced at its facilities in Hangzhou, China. The company’s research and development is done at the corporate headquarters in San Jose. Riordan’s major customers are automotive parts manufactures, aircraft manufacturers, the Department of Defense, beverage makers and bottlers, and appliance manufactures. (University of Phoenix 2011)
Corporate Compliance Overview

Riordan Manufacturing has created a Corporate Compliance Plan customized to the organization’s specialized field of plastic designs. Riordan is committed to managing and operating the organization programs with the utmost degree of business, ethical and moral principals. Employee expectations are maintain an innovative and team oriented working environment by assuring that the employees are well informed and properly supported, the company will provide a climate focused on the long-term viability of the company. Management contributes to achieve these standards by demonstrating leadership; integrity and being a role model to employees to promote an environment which compliance and ethical business practices are expected. The company will strive to customer relationships to be a solution provider for the customers and not be a part of customer’s challenges.

Compliance is adhering to established standards that are set forth within the organization. The mission of the corporate compliance plan for Riordan is to insure awareness and compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations to the workforce in addressing legal form of business, ADR, enterprise liability, product liability, international law, and governance.

Legal Form of Business Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. is a committed to the principles of within the enterprise system laws of a corporation. A corporation is an artificial being, invisible, intangible, and existing only in the contemplation of law. Being the mere creature of the law, it possesses only those properties, which the charter of its creation confers upon it, either expressly or as incidental to its very existence. These are such as supposed best calculated to effect the object for which it was created. Among the most important is immortality, and if the expression may be allowed, individuality; properties by which a perpetual succession of many persons are considered as the same, and may act as a single individual. International Laws International laws govern relation between different nations, and business is one of the most important relations between nations. International laws consist of a blend of different treaties, organization, and agreements among countries. Riordan Manufacturing plastic fan parts produced at its facilities in Hangzhou, China at the international business, it is very important that the company continue to familiarize with international business law. As much as this concept may sound a whole lot like the natural common sense to many, there are still so many people that do not make this obvious choice in their preparation for taking on their international business accounts. International business law will allow the company to make sure that the company operating the international business dealings in the appropriate manner. By looking at international business law, the company will be able to learn how to properly carry out any type of transaction that the company chooses to partake in, be it sales, investments, governmental, or even private international business. Understanding international business law is also very advantageous if the company should train the employees and manager, in performing international business with more than one nation on a regular basis. Even if the company is planning on executing one transaction, but it involves the involvement of several different nations, the company should familiarize the mangers and employee at Riordan with the international business law. Once a business has reached a certain level of success.
Alternative Dispute Resolution ADR In performing business operations of parties are often disrupted. To avoid or reduce these problems, businesses are increasely turned to the methods of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and other aides to resolving disputes. (Henry R. Cheeseman, 2010). ADR will be for resolving complaints and disagreements without the use of attorney’s or going to court. This method resolves complaint and disagreement without the use of attorney’s or going to court. ADR can result more efficient, cost-effective resolution of disputes with greater, satisfaction for both sides involved. There is several different method of ADR but the Arbitration is an ADR method that Riordian can use at the company. It is a form of alternative dispute resolution in which all parties in the dispute submit their claims to a third-party arbitrator for a decision. It is commonly viewed as less expensive and faster than resolving a dispute in court. Arbitration differs from mediation in that an arbitrator reaches an independent conclusion, where as a mediator attempts to facilitate a negotiated settlement between the parties. The advantages of arbitration are cost and time.
Enterprise Liability Enterprise liability is a tort doctrine that seeks to hold all individuals or entities engaging in a certain unsafe custom liable for any injuries that result from use of that custom. Under the enterprise liability doctrine parties maybe liable, regardless of whose fault it is for losses due to the company goods or services as they can spread the cost to the consumer. The company products may cause consumers to take a loss; enterprise liability requires the company to insure against this and expects the company to place premium into the prices of the products. Enterprises can provide this insurance by either using those premiums to purchase liability insurance.
Product Liability In United States, the claims most commonly associated with product liability are negligence, strict liability breach of warranty, and various consumer protection claims. The majorities of product liability laws are determined at the state level and vary widely from state to state. Each type of product liability claim requires different elements to be proven to present a successful claim. Product liability should be a concern for all products that are produced at Riordian Company any product for damage caused by the product. This includes the manufacturer of component parts at top of the chain, an assembling manufacturer, the wholesaler, and at the bottom of the chain. Products containing inherent defects that cause harm to a consumer of the product, which can result product liability suits. Riordian’s company will handle the negligence cases, which will prove that the product had a defect. In warranty cases, the promises agreed upon by the manufacturer and consumer is concerned about the defect in the product. The purposes of liabilities are to insure that the company carries costs of injuries occurring due to ineffective produce.
Tangible and Intellectual Property Tangible property is personal property refers to property, except land or builds that can be seen, weighed, measured, felt, touched, or otherwise perceived by the senses. Tangible property at Riordan will be the secured with an automatic security system and also, security personnel 24 hours a day. All employees will be require to sign-in and out of the building and the employees will be require a background check. Any employee is caught stealing from the company. Riordan will be subject to immediate termination. Intellectual property law is a growing practice area that protects creations of the human mind. These creations include inventions that qualify for patent protection; literary and artistic works such as books, plays, music and artwork; product names, slogans, logos and packaging; symbols, names, images and designs used in commerce; and trade secrets. Intellectual property is protected by patents, copyrights and trademarks at Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. Each employee designer will be subject to a contract upon the trademarks at the company before hiring. Without the a patent other businesses can use the exact idea for their company.

Employee Guidelines - Steps to Adhere Law
Employee Handbook Each employee at Riordian will be giving a handbook. In the employee handbook will be information about working conditions, employee benefits and some of policies for employment. The company objective is to provide an open door policy for our employee. The employee handbook will try to address every circumstances or questions about every company policies. Therefore, there may be situations where the need arises for the company to revise, add or cancel policies, you will be informed. Each employee will sign the employee acknowledgement form before receiving the handbook. It’s the employee responsibility to read the handbook.

Workplace Violence The personal safety and health of each employee is of primary importance. It is the responsibility of all employees to support safety and health programs by reporting any threats received or restraining orders granted against a disgruntled spouse, domestic partner or acquaintance. All incidents of direct or indirect threats and actual violent events will be treated seriously. A direct or indirect threat and/or actual violence will be documented and reported to both the company Department of Administration, Risk Management Division. All incidents will be immediately investigated and appropriate action taken. Affirmative action is a comprehensive, result-oriented effort to ensure that equal employment opportunity is achieved. ...INTRODUCTION Autism Not until the middle of the twentieth century was there a name for a disorder that now appears to affect an estimated 3.4 every 1,000 children ages 3-10, a disorder that causes disruption in families and unfulfilled lives for many children. Research from 2009 suggests autism now affects every 1 in 110 children. In 1943 Dr. Leo Kanner of the Johns Hopkins Hospital studied a group of 11 children and introduced the label early infantile autism into the English language. At the same time a German scientist, Dr. Hans Asperger, described a milder form of the disorder that became known as Asperger syndrome. Thus these two disorders were described and are today listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) as two of the five pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), more often referred to today as autism spectrum disorders (ASD). All these disorders are characterized by varying degrees of impairment in communication skills, social interactions, and restricted, repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior.
