Topic- The cancellation of the Avro Arrow: Victims of politics or economics

Thesis- The result of the cancellation of the Avro Arrow was developed due to the Americans influences on the plane. The convincing of John Diefenbaker emerged the cancellation into the victims of politics and based the dissolution of the plane as the decision of the Prime Minister.

Body paragraph 1- (Background Information)

Topic Sentence: As the new life started in Canada. The Canadian government manufactured a new plane called The Avro CF-105 Arrow which was a delta-wing interceptor aircraft, designed and built by Avro Aircraft Limited in Malton, Ontario, Canada, during 1959. It was known as the greatest and fastest delta wing plane ever existed, travelling at an altitude of 60,000 feet and match 2 speed. This jet fighter aircraft would have been used as defense against the attack from the Soviet Union, but because of the Americans and …show more content…
One of these aircrafts involved the Avro Arrow, the delta-wing interceptor aircraft. This aircraft was so advanced and fast that the Americans got apprehensive and wanted the aircraft cancelled and destroyed.

The Minister of National Defence at the time, George Pearkes, stated in an interview in 1967 that he was told by an American Official to cancel the Arrow because Canada could always purchase cheaper aircraft from them. The United States wanted to induce and sell their aircrafts to make profit from the Canadians. The biggest reason the Americans did not want the Avro Arrow was because the United States wanted to have all the world's best planes.
