...The purpose of this study is to investigate the subject school shooting, and in this connection the paper’s jumping-off point is the school shooting that took place at Columbine high school in Colorado, 1999. Among many things the study includes a declaration of the story line of Columbine high school massacre, and after that and analysis of the article “A Call to Arms: Renewing America”, who is originally a speech by J.C. Watts. There have also been given some possible causes for why such episodes as school shooting find places by means of different articles. And at the end there are given some examples of what people can do to prevent such tragedies to happen again. Because this study works with the subject, English and Germany which are humanistic subjects there are used some methods that belongs in that category, for instance there have been used Bloom’s taxonomy – statement, analysis and discussion, but it is also humanistic because the study contains an analysis of a literary article. The results of my study show that many different reasons can have influence to why young people commit school violence. J.C. Watts make it clear in his speech that it is wrong to blame the guns for crimes that derives from the human heart, but instead he blames the society and that the parents do not give their children enough love and solicitude during the upbringing. Other articles point out other aspects that may play a certain roll in this connection – such as the mentality and the media...

...favored very fast detection of fear expressions on the faces of others (e.g. Palermo & Rhodes, 2007), so one can avoid whatever predator or attacker is inciting the fear. By contrast, given that human mate choice and courtship typically require at least a few hours, with a large investment of conscious, attentive, thoughtful interaction (Geher & Miller, 2007; Miller, 2000), a speed advantage of a few hundred milliseconds in judging facial attractiveness seems trivial. This point raises a problem with “automaticity” as a generic criterion for adaptedness: if a perceptual decision already happens in less than a second with barely noticeable demands on attention and feeds into a process of social or sexual interaction that lasts for at least a few minutes, as most significant interactions with conspecifics do, then there may be no fitness benefits of pushing the perceptual process to be even faster or less attention demanding than it already is. Barrett et al. (2006) made a similar argument against automaticity for more leisurely social and sexual judgment tasks. This study has several limitations that should be addressed in further research. The participants were all young adult female university students in the United States, with about half being Anglo (white/Caucasian) and half being Hispanic (with various levels of genetic admixture from European and Native American populations). Results might differ for participants of different ages and sexes, or, less plausibly, for participants...

Awesome International Business Paper

...International Business Sales of Rolls-Royces which is a premium luxury car has trebled from 10 to 37 units, closely followed by Ferrari, which doubled its sales volume from 32 to 64 units this recent months. At the other end of the market, Proton sales fell by almost 40 per cent from 413 to 256 units, while Chery sales fell tremendously by more than half from 309 to 139 units. The story was similar among the German luxury makers such as BMW increased sales by almost 20 per cent from 3,926 to 4,708 units, neck-and-neck with Mercedes-Benz, which increased sales by 18per cent from 3,997 to 4,705 units. By contrast, the sales of traditional market leader Toyota slumped by over 60per cent from 17,555 to 6,927 units. Traditional number two Honda suffered an even sharper drop - by almost two-thirds, from 9,584 to 3,272 units. Hence the reason for the shift in the pattern of demand must be the price of COEs. Generally, car buyers pay more (in total) and bear part of the COE price, while car dealers earn less profit margin and also bear part of the COE price. What matters most is the price sensitivity of car buyers and dealers , If car buyers are relatively price sensitive, then dealers must bear more of the COE. If car buyers are relatively price insensitive, then dealers can pass on more of the COE to buyers, hence many buyers in Singapore are more willing to spend more on luxury cars as they can afford easily. Buyers of BMW and Mercedes cars are probably less sensitive to price...

I met a student’s mother this week while attending a meeting. I started researching for more social stories on communication So this week was slow again because of the academic award ceremony. The first two periods were pretty empty of students so I mostly did research for the social stories. I honestly never knew how hard it was to find paper social stories. With everything being on line now it’s a nightmare. Looking at from a social worker perspective this is a barrier for the student. The student cant afford an I-pad and the school does not...

APA Reflective Report

...• I will definitely use____ in my future practice, for example: I will definitely uses APA and CINAHL in my future practice and schooling. • I know I will never do ___________ again, because: I will never do a research paper in one day. One week I was out of town for travel and ran out of time to do an assignment and had to do it at the last minute. I won’t wait to do an assignment on the last day because I felt rushed and that one grade reflected on my mistakes. I felt upset at myself for this grade, it was a passing grade, but I have higher standards for myself, so I won’t let this won’t happen again. There’s no such thing as rushing a research paper!! • I will never forget: I won’t forget the endless hours I put into my assignments and researching of my topic. English 111 Reflection

...example of a big improvement was my rhetorical essay for The American Dream. My first attempt was not good at all, since I summarized it instead of doing what I was supposed to do. I received a seventy-five on it and, in contrast, I got a ninety-five on my second attempt. To get there, I went to the writing center twice, and redid my outline for which I got advice from Dr. Kennedy on how to improve it. Using the outline made the MEAL plan easier for me whenever I typed my body paragraphs. Unfortunately, my work schedule did not allow me to visit the writing center for my argumentative essay, but meeting with Dr. Kennedy who gave me constructive criticism helped me write a better essay. I also used the PaperRater to check for errors in my paper, and I plan on using it for this one also. I doubted my writing skills at the beginning of class, but I am sure I progressed over time with my writing...

How To Read Literature

...Looking back on my childhood and teen years, I found they’re not many literature works that resonated towards me. For the most part, the adolescent me wanted adventure and fast paced action. I tended to stay up nights watching films that reveled in both. Naturally, I wanted what I saw on the big screen to pop out from the books. As I grew older my taste grew, never really abandoning what I liked, but rather expanding on it. Surprisingly, I had never notice how the life that surrounded me shaped my preference in writing, it just happened. Starting with the graphic novels that caught my eyes to the works that shattered my mind, it as you would expect happened like an act of randomness. The more I look back, the more ages 7 through 10 tend to...

There have been many changes, additions, and improvements during this time. Adventurer Ministry has shown huge growth as well. Youngsters in this age group are full of energy and get excited about being a part of an organization that is designed to expand their view of their world and strengthen their relationship with God, Mom, and Dad through ways that are so much fun. The roof over Adventurer Ministry is supported by several strong pillars. You hold in your hands one of them: the latest updated manual covering all 83 currently accepted Awards for use around the world. There is of course, one small problem: This area of Adventurer fun is not a static field of possibilities, it is a constantly growing—maybe almost exploding—source of activity. Therefore even at the time of this edition’s printing, there are already more Awards being...

Comprehensive Grammar Answer Form

...writing. In fact, the three universities that I have attended in the past have all required me to use the APA style of writing. As I recall my high school years, the APA style of writing also seemed to be a favorite amongst my high school teachers. They all required that term papers be written in APA style as well. This type of writing actually does not differ much from the ones included in the text reading. The text mentioned the APA style of writing several times. In my opinion, it appears to be the most popular style of writing, especially amongst college students. Based on the results of the quizzes, my grammar skills were actually a little better than average. I actually had expected to do better, but I guess my grammar skills are not as good as I thought they were. In any event I feel very confident when it comes to spelling, as I have always been a great speller. Even in grade school, I was a good speller. I learned at a very young age to challenge myself when it comes to spelling. Challenging my-self in that area really paid off as I became older, as I’ve never had a problem with spelling. However, I feel that I need more help with run on sentences and with thought patterns. Though I proof read my paper several times, it’s hard for me to see that I have several run on sentences until after I get my grade back. In general, I feel that my writing is just mediocre. However, I also believe that when it comes to writing, I am my own worst critic. Reason being, I am never...
