I decided to do my paper over something I use daily which is soda. Even though soda is mostly bad for you people can not get enough of it and the soda Companies love that they're selling out extremely fast the coca cola companies and sprite corporation give back to the Community by giving out scholarships and by helping out foundations and charities and still today they continue to change the world for example if you watch a basketball game you might might see a pepsi or mostly a sprite add or commercial Soda is something people drink but they might not know how it may affects their health . I personally choose to drink soda because it keeps me energized even though studies have said that it is not healthy. We use soda as a thirst quenching beverage instead of something that is harmful to our health and body. It wasn't until about 1832 when the first carbonated drinks also known as a soda was made by Joseph Priestly. When he first created soda, Sprite was originally the first flavor but they did not have a name for it. I will be stating the bad effects of soda, the good effects of soda, and why people enjoy soda.

...Diet Soda, Good or Bad? Edward Muna COMM/215 August 22, 2011 Mary Ann Troy Diet Soda, Good or Bad? Would you like some water? No thanks, what do you have that is diet? One of the easiest ways to lose weight and control calories is by switching to something diet. On average, a normal soda pop runs roughly around 150 to 200 calories per can, and that depends on the size. Remember the movie, “Supersize Me”. So you decided a long time ago to go with artificial sweeteners and after a while you didn’t even notice the difference between the two. You get zero calories and sometimes zero carbs and both taste buds and body are happy. It is a win-win situation. Not so fast. Drinking excessive amounts of diet soda may increase the risk of disease; therefore we should drink healthy drinks instead of artificially sweetened beverages. Disease and Health Risks Diet soda is harmful and produces dangerous side effects. Heavy diet drinkers may increase their risk of serious diseases. A new study by US researchers links diet soda to increased risk of vascular events (including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, which is caused by rupture of a weakened blood vessel), though reasons are still unclear. The scientists said people who drank diet soda every day had a 61 per cent higher risk of vascular events than those who did not. Does this mean that there's something in diet sodas that hurts our blood vessels? Nobody knows the answer to that question yet. Investigators...

...Brittney Preece RES/320 Gretchen Oltman 9/30/2013 I reviewed an article title “Health effects of soda drinking in adolescent girls in the United Arab Emirates.” (Mahmood, Saleh, Al-Alawi, &Ahmed, 2008). As the title suggests, this research study focuses on the effects of soda drinking. I chose the article because of its highly detailed and informative title. This seems to be a great indication of the potential quality of the research. The title itself indicates what is being investigated, who the basic sample is, and the location of the research. As I reviewed the research, it became clear that the independent variable was the drinking of soda. Some of the sample drinks soda and some of the same does not drink soda. There are many different dependent variables that are recorded in the process of drawing a conclusion. This includes many different blood chemistry tests, including cholesterol and blood glucose level. The researchers also noted the body mass index of soda drinkers versus those who denied drinking soda. The sample included 275 randomly chosen girls from different schools. There is not a great deal of information about the demographics of the selected sample. However, it is noted that this information was gathered. Each individual in the study was given a questionnaire about their demographics and their consumption of soda and other sugary items. After completing the survey, body measurements were taken for each subject. The...

...I have learned that too much of anything is bad for you so you always have to keep a moderation of anything and everything. We need saturated and unsaturated fats but we have to understand the common misconception between them. “While it is well known that there are saturated and unsaturated fats, fewer people are aware that unsaturated fats are further classified into two other groups:monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats.” (Saturated Fats vs Unsaturated Fats) There is a third type of fat known as a trans fat. Trans fats are actually a kind of unsaturated fat, but they stand out from other types of fat because they very rarely occur in foods naturally. There is a third type of fat known as a trans fat. It was used in local pharmacies and for medical treatment (author unknown, 2015). Following, soda then become a satisfying beverage with too many flavors to count. Lemon lime, orange, grape and many more. This yummy drink had people fooled for many years. Now soda is a big mixture of fake flavors, carbonated sugar water, and a big lake of acids and chemicals (Nocito,2013). Sodas ingredients used to be made with all natural flavors that were not only good for you, but yummy and satisfying as well. It was a blend of fruits and vegetables along with seltzer and herbs. It also contained syrups of all different flavors. No one could resist this bubbling drink. Containing only a pinch of sugar, it wasn't as bad for a person's health than store bought sodas. For its sweetener, the soda used organic honey. It makes people wonder why there was big transition from healthy to unhealthy....

This is similar to the human body, because although foods such as candy, soda and cheeseburgers may be taken in and have enough vitamins and minerals to keep the body running, it may still not contain the proper amount of nutrients that that it takes to maintain it for a long period of time. The human body requires certain nutrients that healthier foods can provide while unhealthy foods contain additives and preservatives which are harmful to the body. Obesity and Lawsuits

...addition, they claim that their foods are unhealthy because of the excessive grams of fat that are in the burgers and other foods that they serve. But these restaurants serve food to people who chose to buy their products, whether consumers purchase these foods or not, it's a decision that they made. Consumers should not be too eager to place the blame on fast food companies they are responsible for their own health. The purpose of this paper is to show that people who sue fast food companies are not cautious about what they eat; they should be responsible for their own actions instead of suing food companies. John Bhanzaf is one of the most popular lawyers who pressed charges against Mc Donald's. He was known for winning a 280 billion settlement from a tobacco company, and now he's after fast food companies. The lawsuit was filed by Ashley Pelman, a minor, Roberta Pelman, Ashley's mother and Jazlen Bradley accompanied by her father Israel Bradley. Their claim was that Mc Donalds did not inform their customers the ingredients they use and the effects of eating their fast food products which they promote to be healthy. (Banzaf) Along with this claim they focused on McDonald's advertisement persuading children to buy their products. Representatives of Mc Donald's company failed to defend their side causing the case to be in favor of the Bhanzaf's clients. This case is only one of the lawsuits that won against Mc Donald's, thought this does not mean that most lawsuits filed against...

High Fructose Corn Syrup Essay

...Should the use of high fructose corn syrup in food products be limited? Among cereals, sodas, and cookies, high fructose corn syrup is getting more and more common as an ingredient in our foods. High fructose corn syrup is a sweetener that is used as a common substitute for sugar. It is used in many substances due to the fact that it is steady in acidic foods (White 3). Although we may not notice the difference between sugar and high fructose corn syrup, it may not be suitable for our environment. High fructose corn syrup starts from the harvest of corn. Then, by milling, cornstarch is created. The starch includes glucose, an important carbohydrate in a human’s diet. Using an enzyme, the cornstarch is broken down, making glucose and regular corn syrup. To make the corn syrup into high fructose corn syrup, another enzyme is used to convert glucose into fructose (“How HFCS Is Made”). The enzymes used cause the corn syrup to become sweeter (“High fructose corn syrup”). This energy-intensive...
