Bank rate

RBI lends (no collateral required for long term lendings) to the commercial banks through its discount window to help the banks meet depositor’s demands and reserve requirements for long term. The interest rate the RBI charges the banks for this purpose is called bank rate. If the RBI wants to increase the liquidity and money supply in the market, it will decrease the bank rate and if RBI wants to reduce the liquidity and money supply in the system, it will increase the bank rate. The bank rate has lost its significance as a monetary policy tool as the central bank signals stance through changes in repo, the rate at which banks borrow

...Bank Report Name: Nguyen Tran Bank 14 Business Bank Our primary goal obviously is to maximize shareholder’s wealth or in this case, to maximize our bank’s stock price. In addition, we also aim to compete with other business banks from all three cities (New York, Denver, Seattle) in terms of efficiency and profitability. We are looking at no less than the best business bank all around and we will give our best to achieve it. Quarter 0 As a business bank, our strategy is commercial-oriented which means we focus more on accepting deposits from and issuing loans to businesses/organizations rather than individuals. However, after looking at the balance sheet, we notice that Securities and Commercial loans are significantly higher than all other loans. We feel that is a bit risky and we would like to diversify our assets portfolio, which is to increase on other loans. Since Consumer loans and Home Equity loans yield the most return from the “Average Asset Yield” chart, we decided to lower Consumer loans rate from 11.01% to 9.01% and Home Equity loans rate from 8.65% to 8.01% to make more loans to the consumers’ market segment. In order to finance an increased demand on loans, we will need more deposits which should be achieved by increasing the Checking Deposits rate from 1.05% to 1.5%, Savings Deposits rate from 2.96% to 3.5%, 1 Year TDs rate from 5.16% to 5.45% and 6 Month CDs rate from 5.2% to 5.5%. Those are all the changes we would like to make for the first quarter as we...

If there’s not an “app” for your banking needs then there’s a strong possibility that your bank has a mobile version of their site making mobile banking easier than ever. ...MANAGEMENT OF FINANCIAL SERVICES LESSON 13: FACTORING – THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK Lesson Objectives • • • • • • • Finance Maintenance of accounts Collection of debts Protection against credit risks”. To understand the Concept of Factoring. Methodology of Factoring and Forfeiting. Types of factoring. Introduction Receivables constitute a significant portion of current assets of a firm. But, for investment in receivables, a firm has to incur certain costs such as costs of financing receivables and costs of collection from receivables. Further, there is a risk of bad debts also. It is, therefore, very essential to have a proper control and management of receivables. In fact, maintaining of receivables poses two types of problems; (i) the problem of raising funds to finance the receivables, and (it) the problems relating to collection, delays and defaults of the receivables. A small firm’ may handle the problem of receivables management of its own, but it may not be possible for a large firm to do so efficiently as it may be exposed to the risk of more and more bad debts. In such a case, a firm may avail the services of specialised institutions engaged in receivables management, called factoring firms. At the instance of RBI a Committee headed by Shri C. S. Kalyan Sundaram went into the aspects of factoring services in India in 1988, which formed the basis for introduction of factoring services in India. SBI established, in 1991, a subsidiary-SBI Factors Limited with an...
