RE: Affordable housing for students

I am aware that your living conditions at your current university are not fitting your desired needs and feel as if you should take into consideration getting your own apartment. As a student living off campus, I am telling you that you are being robbed blind living in a dormitory. Do you ever wonder where all of your finances go to after being awarded for grants, loans, scholarships, etc.? It is most likely going to the housing facilities available to full time students on campus.
Let us take a semester, which is roughly 5 months, and multiply it by $450.00. This gives you an amount of $2,250.00. You ask where the random $450.00 comes from or even my random equation? My apartment costs me $450.00 a month and I am proud to say I love having my own at this stage in my life. I could imagine at how annoyed you get with your roommates who are just beginning to experience the “college life”. Surprisingly, living on your own you will see a drastic change in your grades.
About tuition and your school funding, if you take the $3,500 for room and board compared to the $2,250 I pay, there goes $1,250. Let’s not forget these expensive meal plans that you can cancel and receive funds from as well. These extra funds go towards the inexpensive electric bill and also but not limited to special offers cable companies in your area offer.
Did I mention I have brand new utilities and my neighborhood is gated? Oh and do not ignore the fact that your grades will improve tremendously! Take up this offer, better yourself! I appreciate your time in letting me convince you in just 30 seconds! You will not regret it, I sure don’t.

Demo Communication

...Antoine Moore BCOM/275 11/13/2014 Symone Starr-Parker Demonstration Communication Paper Communication is something that we use every day. But what is communication? Communication is a form of passing information from one person to the next and one place to another by acknowledging the senders intent. Comprehending the message, and acting upon it to create a shared understanding. We communicate sometime without even knowing it. There are different forms of communication. There is no verbal, verbal, and non-written communication. We communicate by the tone of our voice, our body language, facial expressions, and so forth. Communication Communication starts with the person who is going to send the message. In order to ensure that their message is received the sender must make sure that their message is clear and correct. The sender can do this by making sure they use the proper grammar, noun sequence, and punctuation. This is key because if the sender uses the wrong words, or speak to fast or slow, this will affect if the message is received clearly. The message itself has to be clear and coherent because if not the medium that the message is sent through might become understandable. If a letter is being used to deliver the message make sure that the ink is clear and not smudged, make sure your words are legible, make sure they are not rips or anything that will affect the receiver’s ability to read and understand the message. If you happen to use...

Demostrative Communication

...Demonstrative Communication Maritza Santiago BCOM/275 October 29, 2012 Kim Hinton Demonstrative communication can be effective and ineffective negative and positive for the receiver and sender. It is an unwritten and nonverbal communication that involves such things as facial expression, body language, tone of voice, and so forth. Demonstrative communication is a very important factor when he or she is delivering a message. The receiver can get to know the speaker when he or she are talking, lets take for example tone of voice, the speaker should use a moderate tone of voice, not to loud or soft, use a constant tone, the receiver will see this as an indication of confidence and security. This will be a positive and effective message, but if the speaker is loud, this can be sense as aggressive and negative, it will be an ineffective way of communicating and getting the message across. Body language can tell how people are felling, if they are walking kind of slugage they are probably tired, a very common one is the cross arms, they can sense from this disapproval and simply defensive on what is said, this will transfer as negative and ineffective, but if this person have their arms down he or she look approachable open to suggestions this will be seen by the sender or receiver as positive and effective. It is important that they smile, and walk around the room, the receiver will take this as a positive and effective sign, this will tell them that...

Demonstrative Communication Paper

...Daniel Bell BCOM/275 August 21, 2014 Bobby Bates When we talk about demonstrative communication, we are talking about all the little nuances that we as humans portray when communicating with our fellow human beings. This form of communication can be anything from the way we hold or move our arms to the way we wrinkle up our forehead or whole face. It can be as subtle as a crinkle around one eye or as obvious as an arms flung out to our sides. When used properly demonstrative forms of communication can be very powerful in conveying your message however if not kept in check they can send conflicting messages from what is spoken and what is shown in body language. For example when giving a persuasive speech where there is a great deal of emotion involved making eye contact and holding it can show the audience that what you are saying is what you truly believe. On the other hand, if you are trying to get a crowd riled up pumping your arms or raising your hands can get the effect that you desire. On the other hand, if you were a San Diego Padres fan at a Los Angeles Dodgers Game and your winning using the hand rising if you are winning would not have the ineffective and not get the response you desired. Demonstrative communication can have both positive and negative responses for both the sender and receiver that is why it is so important to be aware of what you are doing when communicating with others. For an example of how demonstrative communication can be positive...

Speech Guidelines

...BCOM 3950 PROFESSOR TERESA LOWERY FALL 2013 SPEECH OPENINGS AND CLOSINGS (SOME SUGGESTIONS) Aristotle was the first (recorded) rhetorician to name the three parts of a speech: the Introduction, the Body, and the Conclusion. Here are some suggestions about opening your Informative Speech (as well as other types of speech). Also included: Conclusions and the Question-Answer Period. Openings: 1. If you choose to begin with a humorous story, never tell a funny story for the mere sake of humor. It has to be relevant or illustrate a point. Remember: never use distasteful or insulting language. Avoid curse words. Tiptoe around body functions. Ask yourself, what does the audience think is acceptable when speaking of body fluids or private parts? Don’t tease anyone in your audience unless you are speaking at a roast. Never ever use ethnic, racial, or religious humor, unless you are making fun of yourself, which must be crystal clear to your audience. Don’t go overboard with the humor: you are a speaker not a comedian. Also: Try using a pun or play on words (a “fun” humor strategy). Example: When is a door not a door? When it’s ajar. 2. Tell a joke on yourself (called self-effacing humor); studies have shown that this almost always provokes a laugh. Depict yourself in some ridiculous or embarrassing situation. This is the very essence...

Bcom Dq's

...BCOM/275 DQ’s Week 1 Q1. What are some ways in which receivers of messages provide feedback when listening to or reading a message? What effect does this have on the message? Provide examples. A1. I believe there are several answers to this question, depending on how the message is being delivered. Messages delivered either in writing or verbally tend to be completely different, and have their own set of problems and advantages. When delivering the message in writing, there is little immediate feedback to be received. I typically use four modes of written messaging, (1) Email, (2) Instant Messaging, (3) Technical Writings, and (4) Blogging.  When doing any of the four, I find it critical to know my audience. Depending on the audience, my delivery will often change to better suit the recipient, especially in my emails and technical writings. For example, I know my audience when I write technically, and because I know who will receive the message, I tend to cater the message towards mechanics and inspectors. If a member of management were to read the same text, their lack of subject knowledge would drive them to ask for clarification. When sending emails and instant messages, I typically know the recipient and tend to tailor the message based on that association. It can be tricky to send instant messages though, even to people I have known for a long time. Since I am unable to use voice fluctuation and facial expression to show excitement, sarcasm, or any other emotion...
