Belinda Magana, a 29-year-old from California, was sentenced to death on May 1 after being charged for the murder of her son. Magana's son, Malachi, was just two years old when he died. She was arrested for beating him and denying him the medical care he needed after he was burned with scalding hot water. Officials believe that Magana's neglect ultimately lead to her son's death. Her 43-year-old boyfriend, Naresh Narine, was also sentenced to death as an accomplice in the murder.
