Have you ever worn something to school, but it actually results in more of an argument than a fashion statement? Ben Brewer experienced just this. Ben decided to wear a rock band t-shirt to school one day, but ended up getting suspended for wearing it. Any form of music on an article of clothing is not allowed in Hamilton Middle School. Having known this rule, Ben wore his t-shirt anyway. Ben was suspended because he violated school policies. Band t-shirts have been causing a distraction in school. For instance, Tim had finished his spanish test early one afternoon, when he noticed someone wearing a t-shirt picturing a band that he did not care for. Tim caused a commotion, preventing this boy from taking his test, just so Tim could make a point to tell this boy that he didn’t like the band that was pictured on his t-shirt. During lunch one day, Ben began to sing a song by one of his favorite bands. Ben’s singing annoyed other students. These students tried to tell a teacher, which could have interrupted the teacher’s lunch as well. Thirdly, before algebra began there was an argument about Darian’s …show more content…
For example, Ms. Miller was almost late to start her class because she had to break up an argument about bands between students. Their arguing in the hall also could have been very disruptive to other classes. Meanwhile in algebra, Mia was listening to an argument between Darian and Sarah about which rapper had better music. Mia was on Derrick’s side, and although she didn’t say this out loud she could later express her opinion when class was over, resulting in an argument about why Mia wasn’t on Sarah’s side.
