The Democratic Party candidates are Hillary Clinton, former US secretary of state, and Bernie Sanders, US senator, the Republican Party candidates, I will be talking about are Ted Cruz, US senator, and businessman Donald Trump. Starting with the Democratic side, almost all of us know Hillary Clinton as the former first lady of the United States, when she was married to Bill Clinton, but now it’s her chance to be the real first lady by possibly being elected the first female president. ...The Patriot Act Philosophers have helped us understand the establishment of governments and the authority of state over the individual. In this world there needs to be rules established and certain freedoms giving up for the exchange for protection and security. This is known as the social contract theory, which was originally founded by Plato. But such ideas has been expanded and taken one step further by many philosophers. This idea of a social contract is one of our most essential foundations of our American political system. The debate of how much of our liberties needs to be taken away to ensure our security has been a long lasting one. One of our most iconic founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, said, “Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.” When we give governments power, they will use them for their own self-interest and when needed for their preservation. In the last decades there have been many technologic advances and our government need to adapt to these changes. The Patriot Act was but into law because our congress believed it was the right course of action to protect our nation’s security. An example of being threatened to leak personal information is a YouTuber by the name of Blaire White who made a video addressing a Black Lives Matter extremist member because a girl from the movement interrupted the funeral for the fifty victims in the Orlando Night Club Shooting to talk about the Black Lives Matter movement. Blaire uses vulgar language at times as part of her comedic nature and video persona, going as far as to even calling the movement “trash” in her title. However, the only reason she dubs the movement as garbage is because of the extremist members that had unreasonably started riots, burnt down buildings and hijacked speeches (see “Bernie Sanders rally Black Live Matter hijacking” on YouTube.) Blaire, in her video, even states that this is not towards the good people in the movement, but toward the extremists in the movement who have practically made it a hate group rather than a movement of change and peace. She does not care about race, but only what people in the movement have done to hurt others.
