Biden Reports Progress on Budget Deal

This article is about the budget deal that’s currently being debated about that would cut federal spending by as much as 33 billion dollars and dodge a government shutdown. As of right now, there is a difference in what should be included in it and not included in the budget. If the deal were to be approved, the deal would be the largest single year budget cut in U.S. history. The government would be funded through the current fiscal year, which ends in September, and then end stopgap resolutions. The senate and the house have agreed on 10 billion dollars in budget cuts, but they are now searching for another 23 billion dollars in cuts according to lawmakers and aides from both sides. House leaders said they will vote March 31st to make their bill for 61 billion dollars in budget cuts if the senate fails to act by April 8th. How it would pass constitutionally is not likely, as the Senate has rejected that bill and President Obama has vowed to veto it. House Republicans are very frustrated because the Senate Democrats haven't submitted their proposal yet. This bill will most likely die and not become a budget in my opinion.
This article relates to American government because it involves the House of Representatives, the Senate and the President in proposing bills and budgets. It basically relates to how a bill becomes a law. The House of Representatives seem to be the only ones who appear to favor the budget while the Senate and President do not. In order for a bill like this to move forward, the Senate and house have to both agree on versions of the bill in the conference committee. The Senate hasn’t even submitted their version yet, so it’s impossible really for this to move forward. Even if it were to, the president would veto it as soon as he got it. Smart Grid

...The Smart Grid is a decentralized and interactive system. The interactive nature will involve two-way communication between the utility companies and the consumer. Through Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) consumers are able to make better energy use decisions, defer usage to off-peak periods, and contribute power to peak period usage. Utilities will be better able to detect problems within their own systems and react quickly to replace power sources from multiple possible sources. The “Prices to Devices” concept, based on the premise that energy is priced in real time, allows for ongoing transmission of power availability and pricing to “smart” home controllers and devices. The devices can interpret this information to alter energy usage accordingly – to defer usage to more amenable and less expensive times. The current U.S. power grid is no doubt an amazing machine, but it has many limitations and poses many challenges. One main drawback of the current system is that it was built to move power in one direction – from the plant to the consumer. Years ago this made sense, but today it limits the ability to handle power generated from wind turbines and solar panels. The smart grid uses two-way communication, which handles excess distributed power as well as detects and avoids potential power outages. Currently, power companies rely on customers to tell them if there is an outage or problem. The smart grid automatically detects the problem and instantly reroutes...
