Information Systems and Software Applications

Introduction

This paper will be discussing the information systems and software applications available for use in the accounting, marketing, and human resources departments that work within the constructs of an organization. It will discuss the selected applications, organizational departments, and how they relate to each other. In today’s business environment most if not all businesses rely heavily on computer technology, such as information systems and software applications. Many of these programs have made business faster, more reliable, and much more efficient than in the old days of everything being writen by hand written on paper by a person. Computer based business information systems are not the only form of information system, but keeping with the times computer information systems will be mainly discussed in this essay.

A major player in software applications for human resources is PeopleSoft. The PeopleSoft application is designed to help with everyday production, find training tools, and locate documents. It also helps with business performance, and increased productivity due to its many features. The application has a vast number of features and updates including 200 industry specific updates. ("Oracle.com", 2011).

Quick books, is a type of business accounting software. Quick books, is mostly used in the small business arena. It has a variety of accounting solutions such as, remote access, remote payroll and outsourcing, online banking and reconciliation, and electronic payment functions to name a few. This system also allows you to track sales and expenses. The company that owns quick books Intuit also has an online version that is accessed through a month to month subscription. ("Quickbooks", 2011).

For marketing there is MarketingPilot a web based marketing application.
According to "Marketingpilot" (2011), “they have applications that will help managethings such as: e-mail marketing, marketing campaign automation, lead management, advertisingand media buying, brand management and event management, workflow and project management, spending and budget management, digital asset management and online approvals, marketing performance measurement & ROMI, marketing calendars, and web portal.”

As we can see in this essay business solutions are more readily available today, due to computers and the easy access to information that they provide, as compared with the days of most everything having to be written out on paper by hand. The advantage of this is that business is run more efficiently and faster than ever before.

Club It Part 1

...Running head: CLUB IT’S MISSION Club IT’s Mission Part-1 Steven Cassidy BIS/219 6/1/2011 One of the most rewarding ways to earn an income is by doing something you have a passion for. This paper is going to discuss Club IT’s mission, clientele, and provide information technology solutions to adapt them to increase customer retention as well as enhance each client’s experiences at Club IT. Using a combination of operational effectiveness and customer orientation will be utilized to bring about the above mentioned solutions. Background Club IT is a downtown music venue that is managed and owned by Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada. They both graduated with degrees in Business Administration in 2005, and while in college they both played music therefore, had learned quite a bit about nightclub operations. Lisa and Ruben run the office and maintain all financial and business related records but, realized that the resources they spent on remodeling are paying off but, are very behind on the information management aspect to get the company’s name out there and become the hot spot every night. Therefore, they hired me as an intern to begin and transform the information management department since computer based information is the best and most cost efficient means to promote and make Club IT stand out and be in front among the rest of the pack. Mission and primary clientele Club IT primary clientele is business......

...Club IT Part Two BIS/219 Week 4 Professor Kathryn Moland, PMP Club IT Part Two Club IT has a very unique vision for the company. Ruben and Lisa are eager to take their business to another level of success and are ready to receive IT solutions. Three business problems needed to be identified to make correction. One problem that the company faces is that the clientel will eventually grow out of the Club scene as their responsibilities as adults increase. Many of the clients will veer away from the club scene as they mature. Another problem forecasted is the company’s objective is inside the box and not long term. Nothing has been indicated that they want to take over a particular market and create a monolpoly. By saying this, an example would be they want to sell tickets online for certain events offered at their club. This is thinking “inside the box”. A long term goal would be for Club IT’s website to sell advance tickets to all nightclubs in their city or different cities. By doing this, their website is promoted, club promotions go up and revenue streams are created from venue owners in different cities that want to sell advance tickets as well. Another problem that is predicted with Club IT includes not building strong relationships with technology companies since the majority of Club IT’s clients are mobile technology savvy. Club IT’s resources include a strong internal foundation with their employees and systems. Their systems can be......

...The Evolution of Amazon The Evolution of Amazon Learning Team A BIS/219 April 14. 2011 David Avery Jr. The Evolution of Amazon The online company Amazon.com is revered for its creation of the first online bookstore. However, Amazon is also a pioneer in the implementation of information technology platforms that have helped it become a billion dollar global sales generator. When Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, shipped the first online book order from his garage in Seattle, Washington in 1996, the concept of shopping from home via the internet was in its infancy. By 1999, Time magazine honored Jeff Bezos with the coveted Person of the Year award for making online shopping a part of mainstream society. Amazon.com employs 14,000 employees worldwide, operates out of seven different countries, possesses four IT patents and is still at the forefront of creating and utilizing IT platforms to improve, expand and revamp the data management and e-commerce processes. Amazon .com practically invented online shopping and e- business in much the same way that Wal-Mart did in the creation of the superstore. Although brick and mortar stores like Wal-Mart and Target generated huge profits from selling consumer goods, Amazon.com introduced to the retail giants a new venue to increase those profits. When sales appeared to slip. Amazon quickly regrouped and reinvented itself as an innovator in data storage, multi level e-commerce and a leader in information technology development.......

...CHAPTER 9 PROJECT FINANCE AND CONTRACT PRICING In the previous chapters, techniques for project planning, scheduling, resources management, and time-cost trade off have been introduced. This chapter will deal with project cash flow to predict the actual flow of money during the contract duration. Also, this chapter will introduce the means for finalizing a contract price. A project's cash flow is basically the difference between the project's income and its expense. The difference between a company's total income and its total expense over a period of time is the company cash flow. 9.1 Contract Cash Flow At the project level, a project’s cash flow is the difference between the project’s expense and income. At the construction company level, the difference between company’s total expense and its total income over a period of time is the company’s cash flow. Cash flow = Cash in – Cash out = Income - Expense Forecasting cash flow is necessary for a construction company for the following reasons: To ensure that sufficient cash is available to meet the demands. It shows the contractor the maximum amount of cash required and when it will be required. Thus, the contractor can made arrangements to secure the required cash. ...Clinically, Kelly developed a psychotherapy technique called fixed-role therapy. In fixed-role therapy, the therapist asks the client to adopt a different identity for a two-week period. The client is asked to act the part of someone whose constructions and behaviors are significantly different from the client’s. Because the client is only playing a role, any threat that might occur as a result of violating one’s own personal identity are minimized. After all, the client is simply playing a part. However, in so doing the client experiments with alternative ways of construing and behaving that may produce personal growth. Personal construct psychology has become associated with theories of constructivism, which emphasize that people know the world indirectly through constructed understandings. Radical constructivism views the person as a closed system, one in which a person’s internal psychological structure determines experiential reality. One’s structure is only sensitive to specific kinds of stimulation from the external world. People do not experience the world as it is, but rather experience it only in the ways their internal structure allows. On the other hand, social constructionism deemphasizes individual knowledge construction and instead stresses that human understandings spring from ongoing relationships. Through discussion and interaction with each other, people negotiate and reach consensus about what is real and true. Discourses, defined as ways of talking about...
