Bite Marks as Evidence

...April 8, 2004 after serving 10 years for the murder of a cocktail waitress. The evidence that convicted him was a set of bite mark that matched his teeth with the bite marks on one of her breasts. Throughout this entire time, he always maintained his innocence. It turned out 10 years after his conviction he was exonerated due to DNA evidence on the victim’s clothes turned out to match that of another man. When it comes to bite marks unless the victim is found immediately after the bite happens and victims are not found immediately after they have been bitten, bruising and abrasions will start to appear and continue to change the skin the longer it takes before the victim is found. If very many hours go by it is even hard to tell if the marks are even bite marks. One time bruises thought to be bite marks were actually bruises made by a hair band. Bite marks are subjective and unless the victim is immediately found right after they were bitten it is impossible to even come close to identification of the suspect. The only positive way to match up the victim with the suspect is if DNA evidence can be gathered along with the imprint of the bite that matches both suspect and victim (Randerson, 2004). Also bite marks can be made while a body can be in many different body positions and skin has elasticity to it and stretches which can cause distortion of the bite marks. The identification of mistaken identity has been reported to be as high as 91%. Not only Ray Koone as......

...Executive summary Modine Manufacturing is facing some difficulties within their new product development strategies after a major customer pulled out of their agreement with Modine to produce the exhaust- gas recirculation cooler (ERG). From this point, the company has three options to regain their standings in the industry, one is to make the European market the companies focus, the second alternative is to attempt to do some internal re-structuring to bring back the originality of the product development process, and finally streamline internal funding strategies to allow for the company to be specific to a consumer when need be but also have to abilities to cover a range of consumers needs. After further looking into to each alternative we recommend alternative 1, making the European market their main focus, because of the quality of the European market and the proximity it gives with regards to very prominent automobile companies. As well some of Modine’s major finances are already coming from this market and there is a lot of room for growth for Modine in this existing market they are already present in. Problem Modine Manufacturing was faced with a huge set back in the production of their exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR) cooler when their major customer announced the cancellation of their agreement to produce the EGR cooler just as the project was near completion. The company couldn’t help but blame the violation of the new strategy for product development that......

Parenting Skills Positive Parenting

...Do you think children should have more rules or fewer rules in the home? Why? Children should have more rules inside compared to lots of rules outside because then the child will be more used to following rules at home and will inflict those same rules outside. It’s much easier to train a child at home versus in public. 3. How would you deal with a situation of biting? Do you think your approach would fit into a “positive parenting” framework? Why or why not? I would grab the child softly and tell the child not to do that. I will then tell the child why they should not bite and go from there. For each time the child bite after my first warning I would try things like time out, in the corner, little mini punishments but no yelling or hurting the child’s feelings too much because I’d have to remember it’s just a child and taking away a toy for an hour, in the corner, and time out each time the child bites would make the child think.. “I won’t do that anymore if I want my toy.” 1. Why do new parents feel pressure? What are some of the biggest sources of worry for new parents? New parents feel pressure because...

...or recklessly cause bodily injury to Shelby Hooper by biting her.At trial, the State introduced evidence that the police were dispatched to a hotel room that had recently been the scene of an altercation between appellant and Hooper.   Hysterical and crying, Hooper told the officers that appellant had struck her with his fists and bitten her.   Consistent with Hooper's statements, officers observed a cut on her lip and bite marks on her back and buttocks.   After admitting, during questioning, that he had hit Hooper in the head with a closed fist, appellant was arrested. Hooper testified for the defense. She stated that she had provided the police with a misleading picture of what really occurred on the evening of the alleged assault. With regard to the allegation that appellant hit her with his hand, she claimed that she was the aggressor that evening and that appellant was simply defending himself.   With regard to the bite allegation, she denied that she was bitten on August 9th and claimed that the bite marks on her body were actually the result of “love bites” that were a part of consensual sexual activity occurring on the prior evening. The issue with the case is that police and prosecution...

...something that everyone wanted to kill. Scott bit into him like it was nothing, like it was a piece of steak on his dinner plate. I don’t even know why I was surprised. Scott never saw his actions as harmful. He always said his sole mission was to “protect his friends” but when did that ever work? He did it for himself. He always did it for himself. When he first got bitten, all he thought about was his own self. About how he couldn’t be normal or how he’d lose Allison. But he never thought about how exactly Allison would feel. He didn’t think about how if she would be upset or hurt or even scared. He only thought about how he would feel. How he would be upset or hurt or even scared. It was selfish and I was the only one who saw it. He didn’t bite Liam to save him. He bit him for himself. So he could add to his pack and more importantly, his power. He did it for merit so that all the supernatural could say Scott was the hero of Beacon...

If someone is bitten, do the following: *Remain calm and have the victim lie down. *Immobilize the bitten extremity. DO NOT ELEVATE. *Clean the area of the bite with soap and water, if possible. DO NOT use ointments of any kind. *Place a constricting band one to two fingers breadths above and below the bite. ACP, however, is known to cause a number of potentially severe allergic reactions because of its equine origin. Goliath Tantula Research Paper

...encountered one form of defense they have that is not pleasant. Even on account of all this, they aren’t exactly very dangerous to anybody despite what people might say/think. Even though they look dangerous, these spiders are mainly shy creatures that do not do much to people. They live a quiet life to themselves and rarely leave their burrows long enough to harm anyone. They hardly attack people unless they need to. Some are pretty aggressive, but other than this they only attack when they are provoked. The Goliath is able to defend itself in many ways. It can rear up in an attack position showing off their massive fangs and front legs. They can also issue a hissing sound as a warning by rubbing hairs on their legs. This species of spider might bite you, but “the toxicity is low and is rarely fatal to humans” (Hillyard 65). The Goliath’s most common form of defense is using urticaria. Urticaria is when it flicks barbed hairs from abdomen to irritate the skin. These hairs can kill small animals if they are inhaled. They can also have a serious effect if the hairs get in your eyes or mouth. Other than these defense issues, the Goliath bird-eater tarantula would be a great pet. These tarantulas can be tamed fairly easily. With enough training and trust, they can be picked up and handled with ease. Unfortunately, in order for them to become available, poachers abduct them from their habitat to sell them in pet stores. Additionally, these tarantulas are native to the Northern......

Unusual Pet

...Menageries Owning an unusual pet was a way to show wealth and power to others. These were known as Menageries. A menagerie is a private collection of animals, which is not open to the public as a zoo is in our times now. When a family decides to buy a family pet, generally they look at fancy fish, sweet little kittens or even a high-spirited puppy. They would not think about going out and buying a lion for their young child to play with. However, many people get unusual pets. Yet, it does affect society in a way because of the effects owning an unusual animal as a pet has on the community as well as to the animal. Exotic animals do not belong as a personal pet. Examples of this are Madagascar hissing cockroach, Sugar gliders and Tarantula. Selecting a cockroach as a pet may seem a stretch, but many people like it as a pet. Madagascar hissing cockroach is no ordinary roach. It can grow up to 3 inches long and over an inch wide. Well it’s not something you would hit with a rolled-up magazine for sure. This type of cockroach is clean, odorless, sanitary, docile and harmless. Besides size and personal hygiene, the hissing cockroach is unique for the sound it makes. The hissing noise can be heard during mating rituals, aggression between males or when an adult males, adult female or nymph are handled or disturbed in some way.
