Jane “Bitzi” Johnson Miller is a leading candidate for the post of the Governor of Texas. Bitzi, as she is fondly known, comes from one of the most famous political families in the state; therefore, she is not a stranger to many residents. She is the granddaughter of Joe “Big Daddy” Johnson, a conservative Republican who served as the Governor of Texas between 1954 and 1958. Apart from that, Bitzi is the cousin to Mike Johnson, a Houston mogul who has built a real estate empire in the city. The Johnson family is well known within the social and economic circles in Texas. The Johnson Family Foundation is a philanthropy started by Joe Johnson, and Jane Johnson Miller recently served as its head of operations till she stepped down to focus on the …show more content…

The message to this group of people would be that her governorship would be keen to look out for their business interests and to ensure that the state administration creates a favorable environment for them. However, there has been a rapid growth in a number of liberals in the traditionally conservative state, and this demographic comprises a younger and upwardly mobile class that mainly lives in the cities. The concerns of this particular group have to do with the economic uncertainty in the state and country at large, and it will be important for Bitzi to address them in her campaign.
Bitzi should expect to count more on white voters, but she should also be looking at the growing population of African Americans and Hispanics as potential sources of support. Moreover, she should appeal to more women voters to rally behind her in the race that has been male-dominated for years.
