In 1820, an African American man named, William Brown and a West Indian man named, James Hewlett created the African Grove Theater. “Both of these men traveled by ship throughout the Caribbean, where story telling, performance, dance and music were essential to the culture and survival of the slaves working on sugar cane and tobacco plantations, salt flats and mines. The company performed tragedies and comedies from Shakespeare to American playwrights”(Welsher p2).The African Grove Theater was the first African American theater in the United States. Full playrights were presented on this stage which included, Shakespeare and eventually the first plays by African American. ...To the subject of religion, three (3), black Africans became popes in Rome. They were Victor 189-199 A.D., Melchiades 311-312 A.D.; and St. Gelasius 496 A.D. Black Lives Matter Movement Research Paper

...As of late, there has been a large controversy over the Black Lives Matter activist versus the All Lives Matter activist. Many people believe that these movements are similar, if not identical. That couldn’t be less true, the purpose of the Black Lives Matter movement is to embrace the color of your skin and to expose the injustices happening to members of the colored community. While their counterparts, the All Lives Matter activist, claim to support all ethnicities. A recent post by a Black Lives Matter supporter, journalist Julia Craven, through The Huffington Post depicts perfectly what that group of activist feel is the problem. Their main focus being the latest fatality of police brutality, Keith Lamar Scott. Who the Black Lives Matter activist feel as though the only reason why he was killed was because of the color of his skin. Their counterparts, the All Lives Matter activist feel as though it was because he wasn’t following orders. ...Training EPD 303 Applied Research in Post Compulsory Education and Training Demie, F. (2005). Achievement of Black Caribbean pupils: good practice in Lambeth schools. British Educational Research Journal 31(4), 481-508. A Critique. This paper is a critique of F Demie’s ‘Achievement of Black Caribbean pupils: good practice in Lambeth schools’, which is an interpretive study by Feyisa Demie Jan McKenley, Chris Power, and Louise Ishani. The LEA provided the funding for this research project. The aim of the research according to Demie was to ‘Identify a number of significant common themes for success in raising the achievement of Caribbean heritage pupils’. In order to analyse these achievement rates, Researchers looked at good practise in Lambeth schools. Demie does not provide the reader with any clues in regard to the researchers’ backgrounds and qualifications. One cannot learn from the report under analysis whether Demie et al were LEA employees with a task to prepare a ground for future policy making. Demie et al chose to study 10 primary and 3 secondary schools in the Lambeth region, where the rates of Black Caribbean performance were reported to be above national and LEA (Local Education Authority) averages. The aim of the investigation was to identify the factors enabling pupils of Black Caribbean origin to achieve high standards in British schools, and to track ‘significant common themes for success in raising the achievement’ (Demie, 2005) of Black Caribbean......

Research Paper On The Black Cat

...Edgar Allen Poe’s works are all interesting and intriguing. Many of Poe’s stories leave the reader wondering, “What the hell was wrong with him?” “Is he insane?” “Is there any other explanation for this?” In “The Black Cat,” the narrator is insane because he killed his wife and cat with no remorse. Alcoholism drove the narrator to insanity. He did not care about the consequences of his actions anymore. He just acted on the spot due to his poor judgement caused by the effects of alcohol. He was trying to get sent to hell. The narrator spends his last day alive writing down the story of how it all happened; how he became maniacal. As stated previously, alcoholism drove the narrator to insanity. He easily fell into the cycle of alcoholism: drinking to forget but always remembering. He started abusing his pets because of this. This is shown in the story by, “I took from my waistcoat-pocket a penknife, opened it, grasped the poor beast by the throat, and deliberately cut one of its eyes from the socket!” (Poe 13). This was done due to the effects of alcohol. When he woke up the next morning sober, he cried over his actions. He then proceeded to drown his sorrows in alcohol. Drinking alcohol is usually known for giving one “liquid courage,” which is basically...

Which Is the Better Colour

...Which is the better colour, black or white? Colour is known as the ‘fill’ of objects, environment and even the skin of some people around us. It is defined as a visual sensation differing with wavelengths which results from the light that they may emit or transmit. My question is; ‘which is the better colour out of black or white?’ Black may not be considered a colour while white might and vice versa; however the attractiveness and appeal of these two ‘colours’ to those who perceive it is my main focus. Regardless of which colour is more suitable to a person’s standards; I am answering this question by thoroughly comparing the two different colours and will attempt to reach a conclusion of which is the dominant colour. First off I will start with the colour black. Black is normally affiliated with feelings of depression which can be reflected through various things such as accessories or clothing. Black can cause powerful feelings of isolation and imply an inconspicuous nature of somebody who is wearing all black so they are not recognised. Black is a pure colour; the opposite of colours filled with vibrancy and passion and contains a much more direct approach. When black is worn, it can be perceived as sophisticated e.g. a person in an all-black suit for work or rebellious e.g. the common teenage punk rock attire. The colour black is known to stimulate an atmosphere of mysteriousness due to the secretive nature of the colour. Black is the most common colour in......

...purple pens Prior to adding red and purple pens to its lineup, Classic Pen’s Return on Sales was approximately 22%. However, producing the new colors has caused many time consuming changeovers, increasing production costs and decreasing the Profit Margin. Comprehensive Return on Sales has fallen from 22% to 13.5% (Exhibit 1). Blue and black pens are still generating a 21.6% and 22.6%   return, while red and purple pens are operating at a loss, reducing both Net Income and Return on Sales. Classic Pen Company could easily restore its Profit Margin to 22% if it stopped making red and purple pens. Currently, red and purple pens are causing Classic Pen Company to lose money. If the company wants to continue to produce red and purple pens, it should increase the selling price of these colors, so the Return on Sales is equal to, if not greater than, that of the blue and black pens. However, Classic Pen Company should not continue to produce these additional colors at a loss, decreasing its Net Income and comprehensive Return on Sales.  Classic Pen Company should immediately cease production on red and purple pens. It should continue to produce blue and black pens, but should not introduce any new colors to its lineup until it has calculated and analyzed the activity based cost for each proposed product and worked out a pricing structure that will allow it to maintain or increase its original 22% Profit Margin. Conclusion: My recommendation would be to invest in new......

...something strange. He appeared to confront the plaintiff, Samantha, in a very peculiar way. Mr. Smith stared, with a piercing gaze, into the woman’s gorgeous light blue eyes. After a few moments, the woman’s eyes appeared to become red as if they were bleeding. The woman stood, fearing for her life, and attempted to run out of the court room. While the woman was running, the defendant, Mr. Smith, seemed to reach into his suit pocket and grab what appeared to be a black remote control. It appeared to be covered in odd, glowing buttons, witnesses said. Mr. Smith pushed a series of buttons on the remote as he aimed it toward Samantha. The woman became petrified and fell to her knees grasping her head. She watched the room spin and then blacked out on the courtroom floor. As witnesses were tending to the woman, the defendant somehow managed to disappear into a large beam of light. A nationwide manhunt is in progress looking for Mr. Smith. He is described as being 6’2,” 145 pounds, and pale grey in color. He was last seen wearing a black Armani Suite. The “Terror,” as he is now being called, is still on the loose.
