SUMMARY: The book begins with a spy who had intel on the location of enemy troops. The spy explained how he easily slipped past the barrier General Lee had set up and that they will arrive in Gettysburg soon. General Lee did not have much time to fortify Gettysburg, so he ordered an entire battalion to come protect Gettysburg from the Union army. The Union army was getting closer everyday, so finally General Lee secured the town of Gettysburg.
