BOTSWANA CURRICULUM

Compare and contrast the Botswana Government’s white-collar oriented curriculum and Patrick van Rensburg’s Education with Production (EwP) using examples like the Brigades and the curriculum of Swaneng, Shashe, Madiba and Tutume McConnell senior secondary schools before take over by Government.
Comparison
* In both Botswana curriculum and Patrick’s EwP curriculum students are taught theory * Teachers are present in the structure of both curriculums
Contrasting the two * Despite the fact that in both curriculums a teacher is present but he/she serves a different purpose in the curriculums. With Botswana government schools the teacher is the one who provide all the information of the students and does all the work whereas with Patrick students do most of the job the teacher is just there to show students how things are done * Patrick curriculum combined both theory and practice whereas Botswana system only theory is taught o students and even some subjects which are mostly supposed to be practical like design and technology ,home economics the students does most of the theory and the practical part is limited. * Patrick’s curriculum was diversified as it directly responded to the need, wants and aspirations of the community i.e created the curriculum looking at what skill is needed in the society thus the curriculum being relevant whereas with the Botswana government was constructed with the aim of producing thinkers and planners of tomorrow * In Botswana government’s white collar oriented curriculum students are mainly involved in the theory part(bookish, elitist white collar curriculum) of the curriculum whereas in Patrick’S EwP education system students were hands(combined both theory and practice) i.e they were not only told how to make bricks they were shown and the will do that themselves * In Botswana white

Zambia has changed so much over a span of 19 years. All the activities that I remember doing with my family and friends, such as safaris and picnics at the Kafue River, on the weekends and holidays have been closed. The zoo which used to be filled with amazing wildlife, which I frequently visited, does not exist anymore. Groundwater is retrieved through drilling deep boreholes, which leads to the erosion of the land. Surface water is very scarce in Botswana and less than 5% of the agriculture in the country is sustainable by rainfall. Due to this 95% of the country raises cattle and livestock as a means for an income.
