About 2 months ago while I was watching the news on KARE 11 one of the headlines was that the “Boy Scouts of America are considering allowing Gays in the organization”. On 2-6-13 I read a news article published by Miranda Leitsinger, a staff writer for NBC news states “Boy Scouts: We need more time for decision on gay membership”. This was brought before the Supreme Court in 2000 and they ruled in their favor stating that this was legal free speech by a private organization and thus did not have to allow gays to join. I wonder if it was a sense of shame and conscience that brought about the statement in January. After 12 years, this veteran volunteer was expelled from the BSA after they learned that he was gay because of his sexual orientation. Though the boy scouts teach young men to stand up for what is right, they did not have any anti-discrimination laws intact to protect homosexual volunteers. Dale, instead, turned to rely on the courts for help. ...school cadets are to suppose to tell you where to turn and move forward or BOOM! You were blown up. I got the cadets hype up after making bet the cadets that the cadre and I would do push up if I got through the minefield. Obviously I would mess up so then the next time the cadet would do push up, they aren’t very good at it so everyone had a good time, so I left with the golf cart to meet up at the headquarters, getting everyone lined up for dinner at the cafe, it was chaotic but it did look good going there. I sat with the cadres’ at the corner, talking countless hilarious stories with each other. After dinner the instructors and cadre was getting everyone situation for lights out at 0900, with sleeping bags and assigning tents of course boys and girls had to sleep in different tents except for the cadres. A unreasonable sense that we made the choice to sleep outside watching movies on the phones, eating a whole lot of junk food and talking, while everyone else was sleeping. The cadre had to do night watches 2 hours each, and only 2 people and I would watch because everyone was knock out at 3 AM. I watch the night the whole night and morning and didn’t get much sleep but after it reach morning at 0700 everyone was up and running, I wasn’t the best mood but I got through the morning Physical Training (PT) and help the middle school train for the morning competition drill team and Individual Drill Down (IDD) that each battalion had to be in. The place had marshes,lakes and really dense forests. The air was hot and sticky, as soon as you stepped out of your car your skin got so sticky like maple syrup.
