I believe that Boyfriends with Girlfriends is an interesting novel that presents the twists and turn of true love. A Weak point within this novel is present by both Sergio and lance’s inability to separate their insecurities about their relationship from the opinion's of others. Looking towards Lance’s openness about his homosexuality as well as the school communities support of his sexuality one can find the strongest point within this novel. Readers who are going through the process of discovering their identity as a Lesbian individual may find that this novel is not only interesting but provides examples that they can emulate into their life to navigate difficult issues. Anorexia from a Boyfriend's Perspective

...[Student’s Name] [Tutor’s Name] [Subject Title] [Date] Anorexia from a boyfriend perspective Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by less weight than considered healthy for one’s height and age; excessive dieting, excessive exercise or use of other means to avoid weight gain; and the resultant distorted body image. Literally, it means to lose appetite for nervous reasons. It entails an obsession with being thin (Beat 5). Even people who are underweight can suffer from this disorder. It may also lead to death if not discovered and treated in time. It is stressing and upsetting for anyone to learn that their loved one suffers from the disorder (Shepphird 32). It is even more traumatizing if it involves a partner, in this case, one’s girlfriend. It is even more heartbreaking if any attempt to assist bears no or little fruit. This is because even with the evident effects, most people will still try to hide from their partners. They may also be reluctant or even refuse to go for treatment and medication. It is therefore important for one to be well equipped with the right and sufficient information regarding the disorder in order to know how to deal with it in the right way. People suffering from anorexia think that they are fat when they are not or that they look bad when it is not the case and so are disgusted with how they look. They are also so afraid of gaining weight that they starve themselves. They constantly concentrate on what they should...

Relaxation

...Brooke Bohinski January 24, 2012 English 101 Process Analysis Essay Sit Down and Relax Do you ever get the chance to just sit down and take a deep breath? Well many people say they never get that chance between school and work, but guess what? You finally have the weekend off and you can do whatever you want. Take the time to relax. The most relaxing weekend is the one that you just sit down and do what you like, such as spending time to yourself, outdoors or with people you love. People go to great lengths to relax, however relaxing can be as simple as an enjoyable weekend with no responsibility. First thing in the morning take a long, hot shower or bath to wake you up. You should get out and put on your most relaxed clothing, such as sweats or whatever you prefer to be comfy in. Almost all people wake up hungry, so after getting cleaned you need to fix something hot for breakfast, whether it is pancakes, waffles or just a fried egg. Next comes everyone’s favorite, sit down and watch either your favorite movie or the three episodes of your favorite TV show that you haven’t watched in over a month due to studying all night. After that get Facebook and check up on the latest gossip. By then anyone would be hungry so just fix something simple but good. Popping a pizza in the oven is something simple and good. After eating, you could go outside and enjoy the nature. It can be sunny, storming or snowing but either way you could enjoy them all. Sitting inside listening...

Adnan Syed Case

...The last episode of Serial, “What We Know,” reviewed most of the evidence found during the re-investigation of the murder of Hae Min Lee. The state’s stance on the case was against Adnan Syed, who was accused of killing Hae, his ex-girlfriend. They presented him as a possessive, jealous ex-boyfriend who could not stand that Hae dated someone else shortly after their breakup. However, after discovering conflicting information within Jay’s stories, recent connections to another serial killer, and the previous defence lawyer’s negligence, I have more reasons to believe that Adnan is innocent. The Evidence and its Implications The state’s main evidence against Adnan was Jay’s testimony and stories from two previous interrogations. However, upon...

Film Analysis

...Michele Cerami The American Cinema February 11, 2013 Analysis of Theodoros Armao’s Film Clip The first scene in this short film takes place in a parking lot. The food vendor is parked in the parking lot and the man outside is placing a food order. There is a story being exchanged between the two men with medium shots taken place. The man outside the vending truck seems like he has something planned and is up to no good. Although the film is in another language, we can get the jist of the story. As the next scene approaches, we can see that there is a woman, who is not fully dressed sitting on the couch in her apartment. Next there is a tracking shot, to where we see the thief coming in from the window into the woman’s apartment. After this shot, there is another full shot of the thief attempting to steal the radio. As he tries to steal the merchandise from this apartment, all of a sudden his stomach erupts and off he flees to the bathroom. I would have to wonder if the man who owns the food vending truck gave the thief something bad to eat on purpose knowing that he was planning to commit a crime? Perhaps the woman that the thief was stealing the radio from, was in fact his girlfriend or someone he was in love with, hence Lionel Richie’s song that is playing at the end of the film (Easy Like A Sunday Morning). The scene then cuts to the boyfriend or perhaps the husband of the woman, who is leaving his vehicle and then seen entering the apartment. As he enters...

Ethnic Diversity

...Exploring the Ethnic Diversity in Shakira’s Song ( Objection) Literary studies in English Dr. Shanthini Pillai Feras Ismail Ali P61421 Review: Over the ages, humans migrated from place to place. Between 1700s to 1800s have been substantial migrations among the world. One of these migrations was the Latin Americans to United State of America. By the time the number of Latin Americans increased to reach 30 million with different ancestral, cultural background and traditions, those immigrants establish their own heritage, customs, traditions and values to build their own identity. This raises the concept of panethnicity. Panethnicity is a collection of different small identities which form a community. The different ethnicities in panethnic community have similarities in their customs, values, language and music. ( Andrea Bedoya, 2007, P1). Shakira and her family was one of the families who migrate to USA, when she became a famous singer all over the world, she tries to maintain her origins and culture through her lyrics and symbols in her songs. These movements of different origins and parts created diasporas who have to maintain their roots with their origin land, looking for their ancestral land and culture although they have to cope with the new land and culture, Shakira in her song presented these feelings clearly through the music, lyrics, setting, clothes, instruments and dancing. She tries to save her culture through singing. Karim (1998, P2) argued that “diasporas...

Relationship Betwee the Acadeic Performance of 2nd Year Accountancy Students Those Who Are Into Relationships and Those Who Are Not

...Chapter I INTRODUCTION I. Rationale “Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do.” (Bob Marley) College life can be stressful, although it is undoubtedly one of the most memorable experiences in one’s life. It represents a critical developmental period for both late adolescents and young adults (Chickering, 1969). College students possess characteristics that changes as they progress in their years at a university. One of the changes that are happening them is the feeling of falling in love and entering into a romantic relationship...

Gender Analysis of Givenchy’s Perfume Advertisement

...Introduction I have finished my analysis of gender in the Givenchy’s Perfume advertisement which is advertised in VOGUE magazine. The ad successfully achieved its target audiences and created a perfect design to represent the content of the product. The perfume has not only attached its first target audience who are the women but also the other audiences such as the women’s boyfriend, husband or the men who are chasing after women. The visual message uses images of people, colour, context and so on to sell the product and promote the product by utilizing the gender stereotypes. Primary and Potential Target Audience When you keeping eyes on the every corner of the ad, you’ll find the creators of the ad spent a lot of mind in detail place. The woman in the ad wears a low bareback dress and has a laced mask in her face. Her fical expression gives a sexy look. She has silver eyeshadow on her eyelid, soft red on her lips . The appearance of this woman and the perfume bottle placed at the bottom right-hand corner act in cooperation with each other. Definitely when the women look at the ad especially at the glamorous ad model , no women can transfer their attention. They want to be perfect like the model and the ad make them think that using the perfume, you can become charming like the model. So all of the women , has nothing to do with age, are the primary target audience of the ad. In another angle, the men are also the target audience, I regard them as the potential target...

Consumer Behavior

...each other in several ways: they exchange information through communication, seek or give opinions and copy each other’s behaviour. Researchers recognise the giving and seeking of opinions as one of the most important word-of-mouth influences on brand and product choice (Bristor, 1990 and Weimann, 1994). Especially in fashion, social groups and opinion leaders influence product and brand evaluations (Amaldoss and Jain 2008). Fashion consumers often refer to fashion opinion leaders who they desire to be alike. The Internet and social media speeded up the way of communication within reference groups and made it possible to share interests without physical interaction. I can consider – as my fashion opinion leadermy mom, sister , girlfriend and boyfriend. It’s the only people from who I can take an advices , and their opinion can really shift my decision making. I identify my fashion opinion leaders by several methods: • The self-designating method The most commonly used technique to identify opinion leaders in which a person is asked to evaluate or describe his or her own attitudes or actions. For example, consumers are asked whether they consider themselves to be opinion leaders in a specific product category. It is presumed that respondents who report a greater degree of interest in a product category are likely to be opinion leaders. Questions pertain to: a) the extent to which they have given information and advice about a product/service category and/or brands...

Prostitution and Domestic Violence

...mechanisms. Warnath concludes that there is a large knowledge gap regarding the links between domestic violence and human trafficking, particularly concerning the interaction between the victim and the offender in human trafficking cases (Warnath 2007). The parallels between domestic violence and sex trafficking are that both can occur within a relationship, that neither are single events but rather an accumulation of acts in which forms of violence enter the relationship, and that neither are easy to stop. Some authors argue that prostitution per say is violence and is the same as domestic violence, and that all prostitution causes harm to women (Farley 2004; Stark and Hodgson 2004). We show the relational nature of sex trafficking through an analysis of police investigations into sex trafficking related to window prostitution in the Amsterdam red-light district during the period 2006. In the Netherlands, prostitution is a legal and regulated profession. In 2007, for instance, a literature study was published on the intersection between domestic violence and human trafficking (Warnath 2007). Sex trafficking is a form of trafficking in persons, which is defined in the UN Palermo Protocol as: ‘The recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve...

Sociology

...Sociological Ad Analysis Submitted For SOCI 1005A Instructor: Priscillia Lefebvre 101015189 This advertisement created by Old Spice Body Wash was an interesting way to not only market their product but it was also comical and entertaining to their audience in such a way that it will not be forgotten by the viewers, thus making it quite popular around the world. In this short to the point ad, it has the audience engaged right off the bat with superstar NFL football player Isaiah Mustafa shirtless showcasing his desirable muscular physique and speaking in a deep projected masculine voice directly telling the audience with full eye-contact that he’s “The man your man could smell like.” In a span of 30 seconds, the Old Spice Guy was able to gain popularity and also spread awareness all around the globe about the product that was being advertised. There are many reasons as to why this ad has gained so much popularity in recent years, and it’s not hard to see why. It is a very short ad that gets straight to the point and is rather easy to share and spread around the world. Another thing that the creators did well was the emphasis on humour. Generally, when we see an ad while watching T.V. and find it hysterical and humorous, we will proceed to search it online to view it and show it to friends and family. The main issues in this ad is the gender stereotypes that is easily noticeable, such as the idea that women like a masculine good looking male...
