How to Break Up: It doesn't have to be that hard to do
The increase in technology has completely changed the way people are communicating now days. Even though I’m young, I remember when cell phones were mostly used to communicate with each other incase of an emergency. Or one person in the family was going to going on a trip and needed a cell phone to keep in touch. Now, you see kids running around with cell phones that are bigger than their hands. They are always on their phones and get mad when someone tells them to put it up. By always contacting people on the phone, your communication skills take a big plunge. You might be the best at texting but you are worst when it comes to taking to people face to face. There is nothing like having a conversation with them the old fashion way. You don’t truly know someone’s emotions behind a screen. They can be telling you that they are fine when in reality they need someone to hear and give them advice. On a personal note, I think that you do need phones but there’s a limit on how and when you use it. If I have the option and the opportunity to see a person face to face, I will take it. There isn’t anything like resolving things/problems in person and most of the times you can come to an agreement. That demonstrates that you are no coward and you are not scared of facing anything. A lot of people rely on texting bad information like break ups because they are scared of the consequences that their actions may have, especially teenagers. For most of them, their relationships start online and they think that it should end the same way. As they grow up, this becomes a habit. I don’t think that breaking up through a text or any other form is the right thing to do. It becomes more awkward when you run into the other person in public places. You always end up seeing people that you thought that you were never going to see again for the rest of your life. I have some friends that take another way out, rather than texting them that it’s over they simply ignore them. They say that they should get the message after they don’t answer or text back. I just find this ridiculous because the other person’s love could possibly turn into hate.

One important factor that you should take into consideration is that they are also humans and have feelings too. Just because you don’t feel the same as you did before (if you dated for a long time), doesn’t mean that you have to be mean/cruel to them. It’s better to start to tell them how you feel (what you liked and what you didn’t) and the reasons that you’re making that decision. Of course they are going to be heart broken but it’s better to be honest than to continue living a lie. If you just met this person, breaking up or telling them that you’re not interested in them is easier than most people think. You just have to say that you enjoyed their company but there is little or nothing in common between you two and that the relationship will not lead anywhere. The other person is going to slowly accept that you were not meant for each other and it was better for it to end. Most people would rather be told the truth than be lied to or even led on even more. You never know the outcome; that person might no be your soul mate but you might just become best friends.

The Break Up

...happy together doing it. | Flash forward two years. Brooke and Gary are living together. Gary’s still a popular tour guide for a company he owns with his two brothers; Brooke works at an art gallery. On this particular day, Brooke is assisting a very attractive male customer who ultimately decides not to buy anything. She tells him to wait until he sees something he just has to own. The day ends and Brooke rushes home, seeming stressed out. We find out that Brooke is stressed because she and Gary are having both of their families over for dinner. The families haven’t spent a lot of time together, so Brooke really wants this to go well. Gary wanders in the door and hands Brooke a small bag of three lemons. She’d asked him to pick some up on his way home and he’s proud that he remembered. But it turns out that Brooke needed 12 lemons for dinner, and Gary’s forgetfulness feels like a slap in the face. Brooke tries to get Gary to take a shower and then help her in the kitchen, but Gary says he’s tired after a long day and just needs to relax. Brooke says that she’s had a long day at work too, but she still came home, cleaned the apartment, and cooked dinner. They argue for a bit and then the doorbell rings. Brooke asks Gary to answer it, but at that...

Analysis

...While all relationships can be difficult, romantic relationships seem to be some of the most complicated types. Sometimes two people can care for one another so much, yet they cannot seem to communicate effectively. When a lack of communication occurs between two people for a long period of time, it most likely will lead to a huge confrontation and possibly a complete dissolve of the relationship. The Break-Up is a prime example where we see that interpersonal communication is key when trying to maintain a strong and healthy relationship. We begin this romantic comedy with Gary, which is played by Vince Vaughn, trying to capture young Brooke’s attention with his initiating sense of humor. But as the film progresses we see how something as little as lemons can ensue an argument which had been slowly building up over time. As we look at Knapp’s model we quickly come to find out that, The Break-Up, was a film primarily based in the “coming apart” stage. Throughout this paper I will focus on the stages of circumscribing, stagnating, and avoiding and how they ultimately led to the downfall of Brooke and Gary’s relationship. As we look at Knapp’s development model, what exactly does circumscribing mean? In the circumscribing stage, communication between members decreases in quantity and quality. Rather discussing a disagreement (which requires energy on both sides of the relationship), members opt for withdrawal. Circumscribing involves the shrinking interest and commitment. (Looking...

Hae Min Lee Guilty

...Imagine someone you like or even love are leading you on while they're with someone else, jealousy and rage start forming into hatred. Adnan’s jealousy may have drove him over the edge leading him to kill Hae. Even though he doesn’t seem like the jealous type, many of Hae’s close friends have seen Adnan being possessive towards Hae. He had a motive for killing her after she broke his heart, he wanted to break hers. One more reason why Adnan is guilty is because he’s a natural born liar. As claimed by Sarah Koenig, “He saw his parents standing at the window of the homecoming dance. He saw his mother raise her voice at Hae Lee in front of his classmates. ‘Look what you’re doing to our family!’ He saw the pain in his mother’s face because she knew they were together. And he saw himself, in the end, standing there with nothing to show for it, but a guilty conscience and a pack of lies in which he cloaked himself.”(“The Breakup.” Pg. 6). Adnan lied about everything, his relationships, his drinking, his smoking, even about...

Optimism

...Jordan Anderson GS2745W – 1/07/2015 02_A2 – Optimism A. My girlfriend/boyfriend left me. Often times when there is a breakup, people will blame it on something the other person did or has done. It’s harder to point the finger at one’s self and look in the mirror and ask what could have I done better. Though you may be feeling down about the break up, take a look at yourself and find ways to make yourself better. This will lead to you feeling better about yourself and will likely make you more attractive to the opposite sex. B. I was late with my rent and may lose my apartment. Considering that you were late with your rent most likely means that you were not paying close enough attention to your pocket book and planning for future expenses. This would provide a great opportunity to sit down, consider your income and then draw up a budget that will allow for this type of thing to never happen again. C. My car needs to be repaired. Similar to the one above, this would be an added expense. However you have to look at it in a way of an investment. I was taught the rule of 10’s. Plan your actions based on reactions 10 minutes from now, 10 months from now and 10 years from now. If you repair your car now, yes you will not have as much money today, however you will be able to get to work having a reliable means of transportation thus making your investment 10 months from now well worth the expense. D. My hours were cut at work. Instantly people will consider...

Mending a Broken Heart

...Mending a Broken Heart Admit that these are the five usual things we do after break-ups, listening to sentimental music, thinking of getting back together, looking at the pictures of your exes, excessive eating and changing lifestyle. Mending a broken heart is never easy but aren’t these masochistic? Don’t they just add up to the pain? Just like what other say “time will heal the pain” but isn’t the meantime turning out the mean time? Break-ups are really disillusionment and a good cry simply can’t allocate the pain and surely, morphine won’t help. And though it can make you numb, even liquors can’t drown your sorrows. But whether you did the break-up or you are the one who gets’ busted, there are ways to make your situation somewhat easier to bear so you can move on. One thing is to never fantasize about your getting back together, remember that assuming and expecting is the root of all heartaches. The first and hardest part of moving on is to dispose everything that reminds you of your ex: pictures, favourite music together, monthsary or anniversary gifts, couple shirts, letters, everything! And cutting all the lines of communication as well as blocking him/her on your facebook. Never mind if he/ she will feel you’re bitter because this is the fastest way of moving on. Next is to make yourself busy. Instead of locking yourself up in your room, spend time doing necessary things like working, sporting, exercise/jog and bonding with friends. Break Ups

...Bad break ups Roughly breaking up with someone can have debilitating effects on that person. In the most extreme cases, it has led to suicide, stalking, and even murder. While the following methods are not guaranteed to always work, it will help the people who aren’t sure how to break up with someone without completely destroying that person’s heart. In fact there are multiple ways to end a relationship without either person suffering greatly or feeling bad about how it ended. By following a few easy steps you can be well on your way to being single again. First, you’ll want to know everything there is to know about your partner. The more you know about your partner the easier it will be for you to be able to break up with him or her by selecting the “right moment”. Let’s say for example that Bob and Mary are in a relationship and Mary wants to end it. She knows very little about Bob and realizes that she acted upon impulse. So she buys Bob a box of chocolate and tells him that the relationship is over. What she didn’t know is that Bob hates chocolate and ending the relationship suddenly like this usually leads to conflict between the previous boyfriend and girlfriend. Instead of buying him something he likes and trying to break it off in a more thought out process, she now created tension between the both of them. This is where you’ll usually find the pictures of the said person on facebook doing something Rivers-2 embarrassing...

Euro Break-Up – the Consequences

...Consequences of a Euro break-up * The Euro should not exist (like this) Under the current structure and with the current membership, the Euro does not work. Either the current structure will have to change, or the current membership will have to change. * Fiscal confederation, not break-up Our base case with an overwhelming probability is that the Euro moves slowly (and painfully) towards some kind of fiscal integration. The risk case, of break-up, is considerably more costly and close to zero probability. Countries can not be expelled, but sovereign states could choose to secede. However, popular discussion of the break-up option considerably underestimates the consequences of such a move. * The economic cost The cost of a weak country leaving the Euro is significant. Consequences include sovereign default, corporate default, collapse of the banking system and collapse of international trade. There is little prospect of devaluation offering much assistance. We estimate that a weak Euro country leaving the Euro would incur a cost of around EUR9,500 to EUR11,500 per person in the exiting country during the first year. That cost would then probably amount to EUR3,000 to EUR4,000 per person per year over subsequent years. That equates to a range of 40% to 50% of GDP in the first year. * The economic cost Were a stronger country such as Germany to leave the Euro, the consequences would include corporate default, recapitalisation of the banking system and collapse...

Watch the film, “The Break-Up” (starring Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston). This film displays every concept we have learned about: The Communication Process, Conflict, Nonverbal Communication, Verbal Communication, Perception and more. You may rent this if you like. Browse through the lectures/lessons from the course to refresh your memory. While you’re watching the movie, have a notebook in front of you. As you see scenes that cause you to think about lessons, jot down a bit about the scene and what lesson, concept, or theory came to mind when you watched it. When you’re done watching the movie, go back to your lectures and think more critically about these connections and make your notes more complete. Now what? ...You got ball, “BREAK A LEG” One glance at the assignment’s title and the first thing came to my mind, “What in the world is this?” Is it literally my lecturer wants me to organize a fist fighting sort of a competition where we challenge guys to fight with each other by kicking their guts out? My thoughts went wild and I start imagining Brad Pitt look alike guys flexing their well define sculpted body with sweat dripping from that crunchy abdominal muscles. The reality was far apart from my imagination. Yes, there will be guys involve. Yes, they will compete with each other and yes, they will even flex their muscles, but for a completely different reason. It’s a futsal competition! I was thrilled with this as it will be my first ever venture in organizing sports event. Moreover, the title of the event itself was so catchy that I was so eager to promote it. You got ball, “Break a Leg” merely means there is a ball in the court, “Good Luck”. That very moment, I knew this event is going to be a challenge as I may end up with too much on my plate to chew. With all the weekends occupied in doing study revisions and weekdays by attending classes, I have to squeeze through whatever little time left to materialise this event. I was being very optimistic while carrying the entire task and this really helped to pull me through the muddy grounds when it was hard to decorate my every single step. We started this assignment by conducting meetings. Meetings were held weekly with our...
