Title: Stormbreaker
Author: Anthony Horowitz
Setting: The novel Stormbreaker takes place in modern day London, England. It has different setting which include Port Tallon, M16, and Sayles Enterprises.
Quote: “ Alex walked through Port Tallon, past the Fisherman’s Arm’s Tavern and up the cobblestone street toward the library. It was the middle of the afternoon, but the village seemed to be asleep, the boats bobbing in the harbor, the streets and pavement empty. A few seagulls wheeled lazily over the rooftops, uttering the usual morning cries. The air smelled of salt and dead fish.” Page 145

Alex Rider, the hero and main character of Stormbreaker, is nice, caring, and is an action-seeker, that tries to figure out who killed his Uncle Ian and ends up in a world of spies.
Herod Sayle, the main villain of the story, is very spiteful, torturous, and wealthy, who is also an inventor and created the Stormbreaker.

The conflict occurs when Uncle Ian dies in a car accident and Alex finds out it really was not an accident. He figures out his Uncle was really a spy, and that he had been training Alex to be a spy his whole life. Alex then tries to figure out what actually happened to his Uncle and how he really died.

SLICE 5 1. Alex is living with his guardian, Uncle Ian, who suddenly dies in a car accident. 2. Alex figures out Uncles Ian’s death was not an accident, but instead he was murdered and is a spy. 3. Alex is then on a mission to hunt down his Uncle’s killer, Herod Sayle. 4. Alex then gets kidnapped by Sayle but ends up killing him.
Alex activates his Game Boy Color and activates a smoke bomb in the cargo plane. Mr. Grin loses control of the plane and crashes it. Alex crashes through the Science Museum roof and is dangling from the roof by his parachute. He shoots at the Stormbreaker computer, and shoots Sayle and the Prime Minister. Mrs. Jones saves Alex’s life by telling M16 not to shoot him.

Alex gets into a taxi and the driver is Sayle who isn’t really dead. Sayle takes Alex to the top of a builind and is going to shoot him, but gets shot by Yassen Gregovich who landed in a helicopter.

The theme is good versus evil. It builds in the story from the beginning when Alex’s Uncle (a good man) is killed… “When the doorbell rings at three in the morning, it's never good news.”
… but then it turns out that he is a spy and was murdered.
“He had followed the trail left by a dead man. It was only now that he realized it might lead only to a grave.”
Then Alex goes after the evil Sayle, who it turns out was responsible for Uncle Ian’s death.
“Believe me, It would be better if we didn't meet again. Go back to school. Go back to your life. And next time they ask you, say no. Killing is for grown-ups and your still a child.”
In the end good triumphs over evil, because Sayle ends up dead and Alex survives.
