Diesel
Q. Explain which of the promotional strategies used by Diesel are above-the-line or below-the-line. Analyse the impact that each approach might have.

A.
There are two different types of promotion method. One is called above the line(ATL) and the other is called below the line(BTL). But Diesel takes both of them and we can call it through the line(mix of ATL and BTL). Therefore, Diesel can get two different types of impact from each method.
In detail, ‘be stupid’ campaign is an example of below the line method. BTL provides some special opportunities to the customer to participate in their activity. Therefore, Diesel can expect that they can build two-way communication with their customer. It means they can get more specific information about what their target customers want to get. But it will take a lot of time and effort.
And ‘Diesel:U:Music’ is an example of ATL method. ATL is a promotion method that company advertises their product or brand by using mass media. So company can deliver their massage quickly and easily to very large range of people, including potential customer. But it require high cost. And it is hard to get some feedback or opinion from their target customer.
