...CHAPTER II LITERATURE REVIEW What Is Office Administration? An office administrator oversees day-to-day office operations. Office administration is the process of overseeing the day-to-day operations of an office. The task of administration is usually the responsibility of an office administrator or manager. Depending on the general operating structure of the organization, and the complexity of tasks associated with the operation in general, the responsibilities of the manager or administrator may focus on a few core tasks, or involve the management of a wide range of functions. One of the core tasks associated with office administration is the management of the employees associated with the office. Typically, office administrators are responsible for supervising the office staff, making sure that each employee has resources necessary to competently carry out his or her assigned duties. Administrators also function as troubleshooters, providing support and assistance to employees when unusual situations arise during the completion of an assigned task. It is not unusual for administrators to be responsible for conducting periodic employee evaluations, recommending pay increases, or providing employees with remedial or cross training as a means of assisting those employees to improve their relationships with the employer. Along with managing and supporting employees, office administration also involves making sure that the office always has the resources needed to......

Black Coalition for Aids Prevention

...Important", they aim at reducing the multiplication of HIV/AIDS infections within the Black communities in Toronto and improve the life of those affected by HIV/AIDS (Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention, 2014). Between 1999 and 2003 the number of Black people having AIDS increased by 80% (Remis 2006) and in 2003 about 12% of the population with HIV/AIDS in Toronto were black (Lawson et al. 2006). Black CAP seems to have a very dedicated workforce, however as Ryan noticed the present workforce was not enough and his workload was quite high. Ryan had about 75 volunteers at his disposal however studies have shown that more than 33% of the volunteers for a year will not be volunteering the next year as mentioned by Eisner et al. (2011, 2009). In 2013 the estimated worth of volunteer time was $22.55 per hour (National Value of Volunteer Time 2014), so instead of relying more and giving more responsibilities to paid workers Shannon could put more trust in his volunteers. Before the arrival of Ryan at Black CAP, the organization was short on staff, so his first initiative was to recruit more staff which was a good as these people were delivering on the funders’ requirements. Response to the funders meant that they will continue to donate. However with the introduction of new staffs Ryan workload increased as each new recruit was to report directly to him. With 12 people reporting directly to him and the responsibility of the whole operation resting on his shoulders Ryan’s attention......

Stress Management

...CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND Introduction “Stress is not what happens to us. It is our response to what happens. And response is something we can choose.” This sagacious saying was quoted by Dr. Maureen Killoran, a certified universalist and an advocate on health and wellness. The quotation imparts to us that stress is not altogether negative as what most people would think at first. It still depends on how an individual sees and copes with the stress placed upon him. If you perceive potentially stressful events as a challenge instead of a threat, less stress will most likely result. Stress does not have to control your life because it can be managed. (http://krystalk.wrytestuff.com/swa560692-Stress-Management-Managing-Stress-Before-Its-Manages-You.htm) However, stress, it seems, knows no age, race, gender, religion, nationality, or socio-economic class. For this reason, it is called “the equal opportunity destroyer,” for when left unresolved, stress can undermine all aspects of your life. (Seaward, 2006) Although it may seem that stress becomes a critical mass in your life once you leave home and get to college, the truth is that manifestations associated with stress started much earlier than college years. It is just that, the peak of the most stressful events in your life happens in college. College students, especially freshmen, are a group particularly prone to stress due to the transitional nature of college life. (Ross, 1999) As one shifts......

...Module 1 Financial Accounting for MBAs ------------------------------------------------- DISCUSSION QUESTIONS Q1-1. Organizations undertake planning activities that shape three major activities: financing, investing, and operating. Financing is the means a company uses to pay for resources. Investing refers to the buying and selling of resources necessary to carry out the organization’s plans. Operating activities are the actual carrying out of these plans. Planning is the glue that connects these activities, including the organization’s ideas, goals and strategies. Financial accounting information provides valuable input into the planning process, and, subsequently, reports on the results of plans so that corrective action can be taken, if necessary. Q1-2. An organization’s financing activities (liabilities and equity = sources of funds) pay for investing activities (assets = uses of funds). An organization’s assets cannot be more or less than its liabilities and equity combined. This means: assets = liabilities + equity. This relation is called the accounting equation (sometimes called the balance sheet equation), and it applies to all organizations at all times. Q1-3. The four main financial statements are: income statement, balance sheet, statement of stockholders’ equity, and statement of cash flows. The income statement provides information about the company’s revenues, expenses and profitability over a period of time. The balance sheet lists......
