It had been two months since Aria Davis told Bucky about her diagnosis. He tiptoed around her now as though she was fragile, and she hated it, but she understood why it was happening. She had a limited amount of time left to live, and he wanted to make sure that she lived it to the best of her ability, even if it was going to get bad. There were some days where she was so exhausted from her panic attacks, that she wanted nothing more than to sleep, but she physically could not. It wasn’t possible. Bucky paused, resisting the urge to look at Aria to see how she had reacted to the statement. He knew that she was upset that he was going, but he also knew that if he stayed, she would be even more upset. Aria felt her eyes widening at that. It was truly amazing what technology was being invented, and it was a sad thought that she was going to be around to miss it.
“Holy Cow.” Behind her, Bucky seemed to agree that it was amazing what their technology could do now. With a smirk, Howard looked back at the crowd, showcasing his technology, and the heights of his intellect. It would only be just, then, that the car began to smoke and spark, until it eventually ended up crashing back down to the stage. Aria didn’t bother to hide her quiet chuckle.
“I did say a few years, didn’t I?” Howard tried to save it, smiling wildly. The audience clapped anyway, impressed with what they had seen. Howard laughed, thanking his lucky stars that the audience had receipted him kindly, knowing that could have gone in a completely different direction.
