Creating, Financing, and Marketing a Business

The Partnership There are several pros and cons of the partnership as a form of ownership. These are discussed in the succeeding paragraphs. The pros will be discussed first. The first pro of partnership is the ability to combine resources. When partners join forces towards a common goal, they are able to compliment the weaknesses of one and enhance the strength of others. These resources can come in many forms. Very often, the individual or party with the knowledge or product might not have the capital funding to start the business. They can enter into a partnership with someone who can provide the needed finical resources. The second pro of partnership is the idea of shared risk. When partners start a business, the risk of failure and financial liability is divided and shared amongst owners. The amount or extent of liability of each owner varies with different partnerships. These guidelines are usually outlined by a predefined arrangement. The third pro of a general partnership is that they are easier to form than corporations. According to legalzoom.com, “Another benefit of general partnerships is their simplicity and flexibility. General partnerships are usually less expensive to form and require less paperwork and formalities than corporations, limited partnerships or limited liability partnerships.” The cons will now be discussed. The first con of partnership is the lack of complete “creative freedom.” When dealing with a partnership, decisions should be made in consideration of the other owners. Depending on the type of partnership certain decisions can only be made by certain owners. If you are the sole owner, you can make any decisions based on what you think. As a partner, decisions should be made based upon collective reasoning. The…...

The majority has been in Automotive Components but more recently Refractory Solutions. The chain of command at my job goes Plant Manager, Shift Supervisors, Line Operator, and Line Helpers. All of them oversee their respective subordinates. Over the past 30+ years, natural degradation and poor communication lead to low morale and low production. In an attempt to curb some of these issues, a simple and effective tool was implemented. A suggestion board. The board has several different sections. The first is for posting employee concerns. Once a post is put up it is determined by a committee to be “doable” or not. If “doable”, the post progresses to the next section which explains the plan of the action. If not, an explanation as to why is given. The plan of action lists an estimated start and finish time frame. Once that period begins the post is moved to the “in progress” section. Then finally the completed section. The board itself is bordered by employee family photos and encouraging quotes. This expresses to the employee that the company encourages a family oriented environment. It’s a non-verbal way of saying “the things that are important to you, are important to us”. Workers are also encouraged to put up silly photos as you are more likely...
