Question 1: Evaluate the reasons Social Media Marketing has become exceedingly popular among businesses of all sizes.

Social media has become a part of my every day life. Our text describes marketing as the “activity, and processes for delivering, creating, and communicating” a variety of information for a particular product a company is looking to sell (Boone & Kurtz, 2012, pg 353). Surprising, the new evolution of attention and gaining additional traffic for any product or service is through social media marketing (“What,” 2012, para. 1).
Social media is the new way of communication. It has been described as the “catch-all” term (“What,” 2012, para.1) for sites that may provide radically different “social actions” for today’s information. Examples of social media would consist of Facebook and Twitter (“Investor, 2012; “About, 2012). However, many times Google is used as a heavy search engine (“About, n.d.). I particularly use Google on a daily basis for information I may be interested in.
Many businesses use different strategies to market their product or business (“What,” 2012, para. 2). I recently learned of a company called Atlanta Hot Yoga (“Atlanta,” n.d.). Surprisingly, upon entering the class, the instructor advised everyone to learn about updates and specials on Twitter and Facebook.
Facebook has been defined as a social networking service or website. It has been described as “social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them” (“What is Facebook,” 2003-2012, para 1&2; Investor, 2012). It was launched February 2004. Facebook also provides the opportunity to create a “fan base” for the company (Media & Sandilands, 2012, para 2).
Twitter is the...

Credit card information is stored in the network to be used for future purchases. Storing credit card information allows users to make future purchases very quickly, and possibly increases sales. However, its users entrust Sony to handle this information with care. In April 2011, the Sony PlayStation Network had a series of security breaches that not only compromised users’ login, password, and personal information, but also their financial information such as credit card numbers. The Sony PlayStation Network had to shut down completely and did not return fully for over a month. This paper will discuss the PlayStation Network and the recent security breaches. Assignment 4: Internet Technology, Marketing, and Security

...Assignment 4: Internet Technology, Marketing, and Security Bus 508 – Contemporary Business Abstract Modern business depends on complex electronic information systems that require computer and internet capability to keep that information flowing. There is a problem when someone outside of that business relationship between the business and the consumer interferes, or hacks, that information flow. An entire industry has been created to protect that information flow from being “hacked”. In 2011, Sony went through what is known as the largest security breach in history. The breach affected 77 million PlayStation Network users, 24.5 million users of Sony Online Entertainment and many more customers across the nation. All this was caused, according to Sony, by an “outdated database from 2007” (Lina, 2011). Assignment 4: Internet Technology, Marketing, and Security In 2011, there were more than 300 corporate security breaches. Sony, Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney are among the major firms that have reported to their customers that they have been hacked (Mintzer, 2011). Hacking is continuously happening to companies all over the world. Discuss what will happen to supply, demand, and price in the short term. The impact of supply in the short term for Mrs. Acres Homemade Pies if Shelly does not hire more staff or expand her current production will be she will not be able to keep up the amount of orders, demand, which she is currently receiving for her product. This is not necessarily a bad situation for the company to be experiencing. As the demand for the product increases Mrs. Acres Homemade Pies will be able to raise the price of the product to also offset the cost of hiring more staff and expanding production the production facilities in order to keep up with the demand of the product. In the short term Shelly needs to heavily consider raising the price of the pies to so that she can than afford to expand and keep production of the product under her control. The success of Mrs. Acres Homemade Pies is based in that it is not like your typically massed produced items that will sacrifice quality to keep the cost down. It would appear in this situation that part of the attraction of the product is the fact that it is of a better quality which is driving the demand of the consumer for the product. As we have discussed in previous discussions the consumer will dictate how much they will spend for a product which in turn will also create......

Diversification Strategies: the Secret of Southwest Airlines" Success

...Assignment 2: Diversification Strategies “The Secret of Southwest Airlines’ Success” BUS 508, Contemporary Business Determine how Southwest Airlines’ corporate culture differs from other airlines: From the time Herb Kelleher co-founded Southwest Airlines in 1971 his goal was to establish a company that cared about its employees, who would in turn care about and service the needs of their customers with pride. Southwest has created a fun-loving work environment that rewards and appreciates unique personalities and how they can enhance the customer service experience of their patrons. This is refreshing in today’s market and the main difference between Southwest and other airlines. The mission of Southwest Airlines is to ensure satisfaction of their internal as well as their external customers. The external, of course, being the traveler and the employee is viewed as an internal customer. Externally, Southwest focuses on customer service, delivered with “a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride, and company spirit.” Customer service is number one (#1) for this airline. It is displayed in their every movement. The airline’s president, Collen Barrett is quoted as saying, “Southwest likes to think of itself as a customer service organization that happens to fly airplanes.”(Smith, 2004) The airline is dedicated to their customers. Analyze and describe the founding leader(s), leadership style, and major business principles of a profit-oriented entrepreneurial approach in which the primary goal is to provide a product or service to consumers and to make a profit. Bill Gates fits into the definition of an entrepreneur, they are said to be achievement-oriented, someone who would work until the task is completed, and who are restless and do not fit into structured organizations. “Entrepreneur Bill Gates founded the world's largest software business, Microsoft, with Paul Allen and became one of the richest men in the world.” (biography.com). Gates started with nothing more than a vision, and has been able to develop and realize this vision with grit and determination and in 30 years has become the center of the world’s largest company. Gates had nothing more than his own skills to develop Microsoft as a business and ultimately as a brand. The true test of an entrepreneur has to be in developing something from almost nothing. The Leadership style of Bill Gates is a mix of Autocratic and Democratic initially, and later he exhibits Laissez-faire styles by delegating some of the task to his key employees. ...Assignment# 1 – Economics and Ethical Issues BUS 508: The Business Enterprise July 20, 2012 1. Discuss what you think will happen to the supply, demand, and price of the product in the short-term. Since the demand for the pie is high, the price of the pie will go up. Also, since more people are willing to pay for it. The demand and supply for the pie will go up also, simply because the people want them and the price is what they can afford to pay for it. Consequently, the rise in price prompt more pies to be supplied as supply relationship shows that the higher price, the higher the quantity supplied (Ferrell, O.C., Hirt, G., & Ferrell, L. (2009). Producers supply more at a higher price and selling a higher quantity at higher price increases revenue (McConnell, C., & Bruce, S. (2008). 2. Discuss what you think will happen to supply, demand and price of the product in the long- term. In the long term, if the demand for the pie goes down, the price as well will go down. That is to say all else equal, as price falls, the quantity demanded rises, and as price rises, the quantity demanded falls which affect the amount purchased. For instance, If new style of pie comes out and everyone wants the new one, the demand for the old pie will drop, thereby forcing the supply to drop too (McConnell, C., & Bruce, S. (2008). Mrs. Acres will have to do something in order to meet the long term levels of demand such as. (a) Tastes: A favorable change in......
