...The New Apple BUS 620 Dr. Susan Sasiadek The New Apple Apple computers was hit hard by the tragedy and largely early surmise death of Steve Jobs. The creativity and genius that put the marketing products such as the ipod, modern desktop computers and innovative technology into computer was lost early. Peter Burrows talks on the new expectations when he says, “The biggest problem will be if Apple’s upcoming products can’t meet expectations. Along with Siri, Apple’s other heavily promoted feature since Jobs’s death has been the new iPad’s high-resolution “retina” display, which is nice but not exactly revolutionary”(Burrows, 2012). I think this can be a problems for the company. Apple is a big company with a lot to lose. The have changed the technology of music, and made it faster and more reliable to get information at the palm of your hand. I think Steve Jobs knew the value of that idea. The iphone, ipod and other modern technology have made it easy to stream music, watch videos, download shows and even search the internet. These things have all allowed the The company, Apple, has to expand in order to stay afloat. They have to be willing to go to places that they did in the beginning. The offered the computers such as the Power Mac and Power Book that brought in a lot of their sales. I thin k if they focused on expanding to these markets they did at first then they could build on them. I think the IPOD has technology that will live in for some time. I think if they...

...Industry Forecasting: Ford Motor Company John G. Warner III BUS620: Managerial Marketing Dr. Susan Sasiadek March 18, 2013 Industry Forecasting: Ford Motor Company When Alan Mulally took over as Chief Executive Officer at Ford Motor Company in 2006 the organization was losing billions of dollars. According to Tony Schwartz (2010), “It had just come off reporting a $14.6 billion loss for 2008, its fourth losing year in a row” (para.1). The article Alan Mulally-Making Ford a Model for the Future illustrates the progress of Alan Mulally and the four simple principles that are making the company become profitable. Principles are important in any organization and an employee needs to feel important and motivated to come to work. These are a few of the principles that Alan Mulally have implemented since 2006: Stand for something beyond profit. Rally your employees around a shared mission. Practice a realistic optimism. Tell the truth without fear (Schwartz, 2010). The turnaround at Ford Motor Company was not overnight. He invested in the vision “One Ford” which has the idea of creating vehicles that will appeal to both American and European consumers by utilizing a common design theme that would move beyond the three-bar infatuation of the United States (Lavrinc, 2007). The transformation of the American icon was due to the One Ford vision and one year after 2008, Ford Motor Company reported a profit of $2.7 billion. This transformation would not have happened if...

Even if Airway Express decides not to fly, it still has to pay the fixed costs of $3,000 per day. The evening flight with the return flight the next afternoon is counted as 1 day, not 2 days. 3. Show the numbers; for example, at figure 9-4, if you draw a line starting at Px=$4 and parallel to the X axis, it will cross the demand curve, Dx, at 500X. Therefore, you know that the domestic consumption will decrease from 600X to 500X. 2. P11: The goal of publishers is to maximize profit. 3. Revised spreadsheet problem 1: Just answer 1(a) and 1(d). ...In Line or Online? David Slade Ashford University BUS 620 Dr. Susan Sasiadek August 12, 2011 In Line or Online? Shopping is a pastime for some and a necessity for others. Some people can spend hours in their favorite stores or malls merely browsing the windows and racks and sometimes do not purchase a thing. For some people, shopping is therapeutic, allowing them to soak their troubles in malls and department stores with a seemingly endless credit limit. For other people, going to the store is a task in which they never wish to participate. People have their reasons to love and hate shopping. Stores use the love of shopping to their advantage, supplying consumers with endless sales promotions and other attempts hoping to get the consumer into their store. Because the economy has seen a steady decline, department stores find themselves in trouble, however. A large competitive industry, consumers may not necessarily choose loyalty over price difference, causing many large franchise stores to close many locations throughout the country. One source that has taken off to provide a sense of relief for these stores is the ever-increasing trend of online shopping. This source, in fact, could be the saving grace for the future of these stores. Not that long ago, if you needed something other than staple items for the dinner table, consumers would drive to their favorite department store of choice and purchase what they needed. ...BUS620: Managerial Marketing Professor Debra McCoskey-Reisert September 16, 2013 For the past decade, Apple Inc. has been at the forefront of innovation in the modern age. Fierce leadership, tactical business strategies and a clear and focused vision has led to the creation of unrivaled and unique innovative products, such as the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Much of the success of Apple has been contributed to the late Apple Inc. co-founder, Steve Jobs; however almost two years after his death, many find themselves speculating whether Apple can stay at the forefront of innovation and technology. Specific generic and segmentation strategies recommended in this paper should be implemented by Apple Inc. to prevent its downfall. Considering Job’s contributions to Apple Inc., current CEO Tim Cook has large expectations to fulfill for both consumers and shareholders. Everyone is anxiously waiting for Tim Cook to reveal the next innovative product that will change the entire mobile/tablet/ and PC market, as the iPhone and iPad had done in the past, but before Apple attempts to introduce the next big product, it’s important the company analyzes its generic and segmentation strategies. According to Finch, market segmentation enables companies to adapt different marketing mixes to appeal to the unique needs of specific, homogeneous target market segments (2012). The success of such market segmentation strategies lies in the ability...

...Waste Land" by Alan Paton Describe a surprising ending and analyse how it links to the rest of the text. “The Waste Land” by Alan Paton, is about a man who is on a bus. When he gets off the bus, he is attacked by several young men and it is suggested that the men want his purse which contained his wages. This short story has a surprising ending and it helps the reader understand other parts of the text that foreshadowed the ending. “The Waste Land” is very surprising as it ends with the man’s son having been killed in the incident. The short story ends with the narrator realizing that one of the men that have just attacked him was in fact his very own son and that he has just killed his son. When the gang dumps Freddy’s body under the lorry, where the man is, the man moved away from the body as if not wanting to accept his son’s death. The narrator displays the father’s shock and mental agony. This ending is linked to the title as “The Waste Land” suggests that the setting is very desolate, people are desperate and that the people will do anything to help themselves in their time of need even betray their own family. This is shown when the man says “People, arise! The world is dead.” This illustrates how the defender thinks that the world is corrupt. The attackers having waited for him by the bus stop shows that they knew that he would be there thus supports his son having a part in the gang. The ending is foreshadowed by the gang waiting for him to arrive, which shows...

Even advanced learners of English find prepositions difficult, as a 1:1 translation is usually not possible. One preposition in your native language might have several translations depending on the situation. There are hardly any rules as to when to use which preposition. The only way to learn prepositions is looking them up in a dictionary, reading a lot in English (literature) and learning useful phrases off by heart (study tips). The following table contains rules for some of the most frequently used prepositions in English: Prepositions - Time English Usage Example on days of the week on Monday in months / seasons time of day year after a certain period of time (when?) in August / in winter in the morning in 2006 in an hour at for night for weekend a certain point of time (when?) at night at the weekend at half past nine since from a certain point of time (past till now) since 1980 ...

Decisions in Paradise Part Ii

...for owner Lisa Campbell. Decision-making and numerous situations are evaluated to ensure this decision-making will be best not only for the hotel but also that it will benefit the local islanders and the people who visit Kava temporarily. The Marriott Kava hotel is projected to be a medium size facility. The accommodations will ensure local islanders, patients receiving extended health care at the local cancer center, families, couples, and even business travelers will have a place to stay during their visit. The decision is if it will be more beneficial to build a standalone hotel in the middle of the island, merge the business with the local cancer center, or build the hotel near the airport ensuring it is near the new transit shuttle bus company. Building a standalone hotel ensures that if the tourism and visitor rate to the island increases the hotel will have no obligations and commitments to another company and able to focus on just providing space for guest of the hotel. The downside of this is that the business owner limits herself to other business opportunities if the standalone method is sought after. Business is based on the needs of living areas on a temporary basis. The developer that has come to the island to build housing projects for the locals will inadvertently be competition as more people may have the ability to afford long term housing solutions. During the completion of research it was noted that because of the numerous issues the island...

Six issues will be discussed as follows 1) importance of energy cost; 2) project’s cash flows; 3) cost of capital; 4) choose an engine 5) evaluation 6) accept or reject. We should accept the project because of the positive NPV and high IRR. We will gain $532 million in wealth which is a big money on the scale like this. The company has a bond rating of AA that makes the risk relatively low. So we should definitely say yes. Issues Importance of Energy Cost Road King Trucks, Inc. is a truck manufacturing company. The new CEO Michael Livingston arranged a meeting with the firm’s top managers and engineers considering introducing a large, public transit bus into its current product line. As the oil prices keep going high and have no sign of decreasing. Mr. Livingston thought it would lead people more likely to use public transportation. The price of gas has gone up for the 30th day in a row, and with it tempers are rising. Increased demand for public transportation is expected to continue into the spring [1]. The impact of high oil prices makes people more willingly to use public transportation and there will be an increase of riders. The company should adapt itself to the changes of market. Now it is a fashion to be “Green”. People show great environmental consciousness to the world. It is wise to attract people with public transportation and fulfill their demands. ...Hybrid Bus Fact Sheet The region’s first biodiesel, electric buses will operate on area roads beginning summer 2010. Six new 40-foot Intercity Transit coaches Intercity Transit with a green “bubble” top will operate on a planet-friendly mix of biodiesel, ultra-low sulfur diesel, and electricity. The buses, funded largely with federal stimulus funds, will replace 14-year-old buses. What are the benefits of hybrid buses? Hybrid buses: • Significantly reduce emissions that cause smog, greenhouse gases, and public health issues, • Reduce fuel consumption about 25 %, • Require less maintenance, • Reduce diesel exhaust odor, vehicle noise, and • Have same operating reliability as traditional propulsion engine buses. How does the hybrid bus work? • Diesel-electric hybrid buses use both electricity and diesel, the same concept as hybrid automobiles. • Bus Batteries store energy and recharge when the bus decelerates. When demand for power exceeds battery capacity, the diesel engine provides extra energy. • The stored electricity is used for a cleaner and smoother propulsion. • A computer controls the output of the two power sources, diesel and electricity, so the buses always use the most efficient source. How were these buses paid for? Most of the cost was paid with federal funding. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds accounted for $2.33 million, $750,669 came from other federal funds, and $575,000 from Intercity Transit (local match). What...
