The authors investigate the origins of certain variables that affect the ethical values of an organization. In addition, a review is performed on how both ethics along with these variables contribute to the success of the organization with respect to quality and quantity of output. A link is established between power, ethics and commitment to productivity.

This journal implies that there is potential for a balance between economics and business ethics in several instances. One instance is found in the presumptions of how organizational members make decisions and from what ethical foundation they are considered? In addition, the importance of the union between business ethics and organizational structure is visited considering their value to the motivation of the internal stakeholders. The journal explores another instance where there may be a balance between business ethics and economics by evaluating an organization’s brand name capital and value with consideration to its ethical behavior. Business Ethics Quarterly, 23(2), 171-205. doi:10.5840/beq201323214 The history of the field of business ethics in the U.S. remains understudied and misunderstood. In this article I begin to remedy this oversight about the past, and I suggest how it can be beneficial in the present. Using both published and unpublished primary sources, I argue that the business ethics field emerged in the early twentieth century, against the backdrop of the establishment of business schools in major universities. I bring to light four important developments: business ethics lectures at the University of California and Yale University, Leon Marshall's curriculum at the College of Commerce of the University of Chicago, and the William A. Vawter Foundation on Business Ethics at Northwestern University. Conflict resolution [electronic resource] Team Publications. (n.d). Amherst, Mass. HRD Press c2002. This article contains team building exercises. The exercises build strength and team cohesive functions. It teaches about working together and compromising in a team setting. It details conflict resolution tactics while defining conflict resolution in a modern world. Bibliography Annotated BADEN, D. (2014). ...Creating APA Style Annotated Bibliographies, 6th Ed. Annotated bibliographies are not specifically addressed in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th ed. We have taken the example given online at the OWL at Purdue1 as the basis for formatting. It is a good idea to take careful note of any directions given in your assignment, and to check with your professor if you have specific questions. Contents 1. 2. 3. Guidelines Sample Annotated Bibliography Sample Standard Reference List/Bibliography Guidelines The following is a summary of things to know when creating an APA style annotated bibliography:  The annotated bibliography consists of two elements o Citation in current APA style format o Annotation The annotation will follow the citation on the next line. There is not an extra space— double spacing is used throughout. An annotation is different from an abstract. It should have several sentences summarizing the main points or ideas found in the item. It should then include your own statement evaluating the quality of the item and/or relating the item to your own research topic. For a longer annotated bibliography, it is appropriate to divide into sections or topics, and to title those sections as seems fitting.    Note: These annotations are for illustrative purposes only and have no relationship to the content of the sources. The citations are from the sample list found at the end. 1 http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/614/03/ Sample...

Maintaining the values I was taught and hard working ethics that have been instilled in me as I developed into a man. Honor, Courage and Commitment have been the driving force of my life. Believing in myself and having the motivation to continue to better my life are all important and a major part of my personal responsibilities. The honor that comes along with having been a Marine and serving my country allows me to have the realization that if I work hard at all things I will become successful. The challenges I face which I feel is managing my time and keeping the fire alive to be able to get my degree as soon as possible. I served in the military for 8 years. This time spent I was groomed to be a self-reliable. It made me able to keep focused on bettering my craft and preparing myself to get ready for more responsibilities by getting promoted to higher ranks. That prior experience I hope to keep going inside me as I continue to take harder classes and more attention to detail is required. This challenge is not as physically demanding as the military was to me but probably just as mentally demanding. College is not a sprint it is a marathon and the end result will be me succeeding and...

Sel-Discovery Through the Art of Listening

...Self-Discovery thru the Art of Listening: An Annotated Bibliography Diane Jones Saint Petersburg College INTRODUCTION The resources listed in this annotated bibliography are intended to bring to light the importance of listening, in our professional lives as well as in our personal lives. The focus is learning to listen and the importance of being a good listener. Whether in a business relationship or a personal relationship, communication is the key --- forty-five percent of which is listening. Having good listening skills can lead to career advancement. For instance, a manager needs to have the ability to listen nonjudgmentally for valid information and to understand others point of view in order to make managerial decisions. Active listening can help you better understand thoughts and feelings of others and provide positive communication in your relationships. A portion of this research involves self-knowledge and how to get to know yourself better. We are always talking to ourselves, silently, in our heads, thinking… without really paying attention or analyzing our thoughts. Are we really even listening to ourselves? Perhaps we could discover a part of our unknown selves… I am now wondering what all I have missed out on in my lifetime from hearing rather than listening. There is an art to listening and it must be learned and developed through practice. Learning to listen effectively is a complex, challenging, and lifelong undertaking. These resources offer...

Critical Thinking

...Critical Thinking and Its Importance in Education By Kadoko Chanda 1. Introduction Technology, travel and business have brought countries together, so does our thinking evolve. No more thinking within our boundaries, we need critical thinking to evaluate our own decisions in everything we do. For example, how do you teach students without discriminating their beliefs or religion? How do we start a business in a country with different laws from ours and still incorporate our business values? So, what is critical thinking? 2. What is Critical Thinking? Critical thinking according to Hamilton-Reeves (2009) is the process of filtering information by removing emotional and environmental discrepancies and remaining neutral to make the most accurate decision. On the other hand Elder and Paul (1994, pp.34-35) believes critical thinking is the "ability of thinkers to take charge of their own thinking by developing sound criteria and standards for analyzing and assessing" information to make an informed decision. Lastly, critical thinking from a general psychology point of view is analyzing ones standards, facts and assessing conclusions (Petress, 2004). From the above analysis, it is apparent that critical thinking is a process that guides ones logical decision making process by analyzing all possible information before making a decision, therefore reducing the chances of making quick and unethical decisions. According to Hamilton-Reeves (2009), critical thinking improves your...

...An Annotated Bibliography For A Research Paper On How To Ensure Equity In Commercial Exploitation Of Outer Space Resources Reference: Lee, R. J. (2012). Law and regulation of commercial mining of minerals in outer space. New York; Dordrecht, The Netherlands: Springer. Lee’s book discusses various aspects of exploitation of outer space mineral resources. Different from other authors, Lee focused his discussion on commercial exploitation and proposed a comprehensive legal framework to regulate such activities in order to benefit the mankind. His book targets a wide range of readers so there is a lot of background information about technological and policy development. Lee himself is also professional lawyer who is specialized in space law, so his book s a reliable source of information. I am able to use this work as a good reference book to discuss how ethical theories such as deontology can be applied to commercial exploitation of outer space resources. Livingston, D. (2003). A code of ethics for conducting business in outer space. Space Policy, 19(2), 93-94. Livingston’s article presents a list of code of ethics for commercial operations in outer space and serves as an independent guideline for companies that want to venture into space. His guideline provides me with a good tool to evaluate different approaches that I want to propose in my paper using ethical theories. I believe the ethical consideration is the most important factor to ensure equity of commercial...
