Dr. Manmohan Singh
Prime Minister
148 B South Block, Raisina Hill
New Dehli, India 110001

Dear Dr. Manmohan Singh:

I was recently given the chance to visit the country of India. It was an amazing adventure unlike any other I have had before and I enjoyed it immensely. However, while I was there I had the pleasure to visit some communities where the great people of India were stricken with poverty and hunger.
I witnessed children, pregnant woman, mothers, and entire families severely famished, underweight and unhealthy. I saw mothers watch their children starve to death and met many orphans who had lost their entire families, left to fend for themselves all because of lack of nourishment. I realize that famine has become a recurrent way of life for the people of India. It has taken over 60 million lives over the last three centuries (Famine In India), yet no one has taken any action to change the problem. It is said that at least 50 million Indians are on the brink of starvation and over 200 million Indians are underfed, even as I write you this letter now. (Ramachandran).
Simply having a meal to eat and food in our bellies is something many of us take advantage of every day and something every human being deserves to have access to. For this problem I’ve created the DirtMaster 3000™.
I know right now you’re thinking, “Dirt?” So let me explain. The DirtMaster 3000™ is a microwave like appliance that anyone can use. You put dirt inside and turn it on. The DirtMaster 3000™ then changes the entire molecular structure of the dirt. It is essentially dirt that can safely be eaten and provides, believe it or not, all the necessary food groups along with necessary vitamins to keep your body healthy. We’ve also programmed the DirtMaster 3000™ to add a chemical to the dirt making it taste good. It’s a sort of fruity sweet taste, which makes dirt a delectable treat. The dirt looks, feels, and smells the same but it’s now something to save the world from starving.
Now you’re question is, “But won’t that require electricity?” You would think so. But the DirtMaster 3000™ includes a special battery called the Neverest© battery. This battery is so strong it can power the DirtMaster 3000™ for up to75 years without replacement. The battery also comes with a lifetime replacement guarantee. Send the DirtMaster 3000™ back to us, we’ll replace the battery and send it right back to you, shipping also provided.
The DirtMaster 3000™ can be purchased by anyone and used by anyone. As the Prime Minister of India you would receive a very special limited time reduced offer if you purchase 500 or more. I will personally deliver them to you and contribute in the distribution to the villages all over the county of India.
Our company has already conducted business with several other countries including; Pakistan, Nepal, Somalia, Kenya, and East Africa. We are saving lives every day Mr. Singh. We would be honored to do the same for the people of India and I would go as far to say that it is essential.
Dr. Singh I beg you to consider my product as a way of life for your people. Your country deserves to have a way to eat. Mothers and father deserve to be able to provide food and nourishment to their children. They deserve to be able to live full and healthy lives. My product can pride this for you and can nurture your countries people back to health.
If you are interested in purchasing or trying my product you can reach me at.... I greatly appreciate your consideration of my product and would love to do business with you.
Sincerely,

CEO BestIdeaEver Inc.

...Technical Writing/Business Communications/Letters Professional and Technical Writing/Business Communications/Letters Business Letters Business letters are written messages to a person or group within a professional setting. Business letters are used when the writer would like to be formal and professional. Letters may vary in length depending on the writer's objective, purpose, and message of the letter. The letter can address anyone including, but not limited to: clients and customers, managers, agencies, suppliers, and other business personnel or organizations. It is important to remember that any business letter is a legal document between the interested parties. These documents can be held for up to seven years, so it is important that all information is honest and legitimate. The Difference Between a Business letter and other letters The main thing that differentiates a business letter from other letters is that a business letter is a legal document. The writer can be held liable for anything written in the letter. For example, if it is stated that a project will be completed by a certain date in a business letter, the project legally must be completed by that date. However, if the project can't be completed by that date, another letter can be written stating that the project is behind schedule and why. For this reason, business letters must be written differently than letters used for personal use. A business letter is...

The font style is Times New Roman, size 12. The margins are 1.25”. These are default settings and should be used unless instructed otherwise. Full Block style is the most streamlined letter format because it eliminates the need to indent paragraphs. Always use a justified left margin for letters and memos. This lets the computer randomly determine the end point of each line and results in a more natural looking document. Do not justify the right margin. When keying in a complimentary closing, only the first word is capitalized. Note how the closing of this letter is typed, for example. Pretend this letter is accompanied by a booklet. Whenever anything is enclosed with a letter, indicate this at the bottom of the letter. Sincerely yours, ...

...Writing a standard business letter –part 2 The UK format is similar to US full block format, with these key differences for UK letters: * The return address is right-aligned * The date is written as “15th May 2008” not “May 15, 2008” * A comma, not a colon, follows the recipients’ name * The subject (if included) is centred In the UK, a standard business letter looks like this: Just as with the US examples, I’ll break the letter down into the main elements, working from the top to the bottom. Your Address Your address, also known as the “return address”, comes first (leave this off if you’re using letter-headed paper). 123 Old Road Newtown London SW1 3AA Your return address should be right-justified. The Date Directly beneath this, the date on which the letter was written: 15th May 2008 In the UK, the day comes before the month, and it is fine to put “st”, “nd” or “th” after the day’s date, eg. “15th” “1st” or “2nd”. You can position the date on the right or on the left of your letter. Recipent’s name and address Beneath this, you should put the recipient’s name and address, just as it would appear on the envelope. If you’re using a window envelope, make sure it’ll show through when the paper is inserted. The recipient’s name and address should be positioned on the left-hand side. The Greeting After their address, you should leave a line’s space then put “Dear Mr Jones”, “Dear Bob” or “Dear Sir/Madam” as appropriate. Follow this with a......

...Parts of a Business Letter | Lesson 29: Writing Business Letters  >>>  Parts of a Business Letter | * The Heading (The Retern Address) or Letterhead - Companies usually use printed paper where heading or letterhead is specially designed at the top of the sheet. It bears all the necessary information about the organisation’s identity. * Date - Date of writing. The month should be fully spelled out and the year written with all four digits October 12, 2005 (12 October 2005 - UK style). The date is aligned with the return address. The number of the date is pronounced as an ordinal figure, though the endings st, nd, rd, th, are often omitted in writing. The article before the number of the day is pronounced but not written. In the body of the letter, however, the article is written when the name of the month is not mentioned with the day. * The Inside Address - In a business or formal letter you should give the address of the recipient after your own address. Include the recipient's name, company, address and postal code. Add job title if appropriate. Separate the recipient's name and title with a comma. Double check that you have the correct spelling of the recipient 's name. The Inside Address is always on the left margin. If an 8 1/2" x 11" paper is folded in thirds to fit in a standard 9" business envelope, the inside address can appear through the window in the envelope. * The Greeting - Also called the salutation. The major differences between school writing and business writing School writing, typically in the form of essays, is aimed at impressing the audience, i.e. examiners. To score high, student writers have to use fairly complicated vocabulary and sentences in their written work. Business writers, however, mainly aim to communicate information to their colleagues, clients, and other associated parties. They are relatively free to use what language that can get the business done efficiently and effectively. II. Seven steps in the process of wring 1. clarifying your aim 2. identifying your readers 3. making a general plan 4. sketching a synopsis (大纲) 5. drafting your text 6. putting the draft aside 7. revising and editing ★ Writing is a recursive and creative process.
