Introduction

* Market coordination

* Product standardization

* Marketing Mix uniformity

Global products/brands have coordination between markets, standardization of products and uniformity of marketing, across all markets.

Regional products and brands are unique to a particular trading region.

Note:

* The difference between Global and Regional products is of degree not kind/type. That is, the issues are the same (kind/type), but the number of countries (degree) to which the marketing analysis applies is different.

* Regional products can be thought of as latent global products.

Localization vs Adaptation

Localization:

* Changes that are required for the product to function in a new market. Without localization the product cannot compete because it will not be able to function properly. It will be rejected immediately.

NOTE: A standardized product still needs to be localized to function properly.

Adaption:

* Changes that are required to match customers’ preferences so that the customer will choose you over a competitor

Standardization

Pros/Advantages

* Cost Reduction

* Improved Quality

* Enhanced Customer Preference

* Global Customers

* Global Segments

Cons/Disadvantages

* Off-Target

* Lack of Uniqueness

* Vulnerability to Trade Barriers

* Strong Local Competitors

...Explore the ways power an authority shape spoken language using the extract from the boardroom scene in the apprentice In this essay I shall be analysing ways that power and authority and used through spoken language in the board room scene and many sections of the Apprentice. Firstly The differences between spoken and written language is that, spoken language are the different ways which people communicate verbally, For example some people could speak with an accent or with some slang words or fillers, this is spoken language, the way you speak. Written language is different because it’s what you write and it doesn’t always contain accents, dialect, or fillers etc. My reason for choosing to look at the sections of the apprentice is because we see that in the apprentice a lot of language is used to show power and authority between the candidates and Lord Sugar, therefore I shall analyse language during the apprentice in this essay and show how power and authority is shown. When talking about spoken language we know that many people are judged by how they talk and the language in which they use. Nowadays everyone is expected to speak Standard English because they think if you do it makes you seem and look like a better person. For example we see that if someone was to talk Standard English people would assume they are well educated, literate and classify them as being middle-higher class person. However if someone was to not speak standard English then they would be seen...

Taking Sides

...Taking Sides: Were the Nineteenth-Century Big Businessmen “Robber Barons”? In the nineteenth-century, the United States experienced rapid industrial revolution and economic growth. Leading the way throughout the economic growth were big business owners. Scholars have disagreed on whether or not these big businessmen were robber barons. Howard Zinn believes that they were robber barons and that they encouraged monopolies and used government influence and power to further their success. John S. Gordon argues that businessmen such as Rockefeller and Carnegie affected the industry in a positive way that helped improve the lifestyle of average Americans. Howard Zinn supported his view that the nineteenth-century big businessmen were robber barons by explaining how some of the multimillionaires accumulated their fortune. Zinn immediately dispels the myth that these rich men started from poverty, and states that a study showed that 90% of these men were born into middle or upper class families.. Robber barons undercut their opponents forcing them to sell out to the bigger corporation allowing these men to keep their prices high. Zinn focuses a majority of his writing on how these big businessmen used the government to prevent rebellion against robber barons. Gordon explains that the consumer products Rockefeller and Carnegie developed improved the life of average Americans. He speaks a lot on the improved production of steel and the impact on the industry that resulted. Gordon...

Why Women Cant Have It All Response

...Stanley Sidik English 122 Prof McKinnon 7/16/12 “Why women can’t have it all” by Slaughter: Response After reading the title of this article “Why women can’t have it all” it makes me ponder what this “all” exactly means. After reading the article I discovered that “all” is a great career, a big bank account, a successful husband, perfect kids, and a nice house at the same time. As she Slaughter did experience this dilemma of choosing to spend more time with her family or keep her decent career which is director of policy planning for the State Department. She also begins to question the equality of women is the workplace are they being treated the same way as man? In my business class, my professor informed me that during job interviews they intend to avoid pregnant women as they will get 10 paid weeks off and would ruin the payroll of the company. This is the just one of many disadvantages that career moms face. As I continued reading the article I felt I had to be defensive in some parts , but not because I disagree her claims and it felt as if there was a dagger soon to be puncturing my lung ,but me being a male accused of things I did not commit. While reading the article it ranged if men won’t sacrifice because they think the women eventually will. Slaughter answers this question by saying that men are socialized to prioritize differently than women, but I myself would never ask someone to sacrifice something if I wouldn’t if I were in her or his shoes. After...

Money Isn't Everything

...THE BUSINESS WOMAN’S TALE: MONEY ISN’T EVERYTHING I will start my story now. I will have you know terrorist, that I make more money than most of the people in this café, so keep that in mind. If you do let me out, that I know you will, I will make sure that I won’t have the police coming after you. I can also give you enough money to buy a year’s supply of coffee, just to let you know. Before I begin, this is a story so there doesn’t have to be any logic to this. A story has its own rules so don’t question my tale too harshly. I will tell a story about money not being able to buy everything. It is a little clichéd, but it is the best that I can best relate to. I will have you know that I have married and divorced two men so far in my life. I am not proud of what I did, but I think I have learned a lesson from them. I do not directly relate to the main character, but I hope a future man for me can learn this lesson. Also the lesson may apply to me as well, since money is all I really cared for. The story begins with a pair of twins, a brother and a sister. They were very close to each other while growing up. They played and talked to each other on a daily basis. When they grew up, they went their separate ways. The brother, the main character of this story, graduated from a prodigious school and was able to get a master degree at Harvard. He was able to get a high-position and high-paying job in a company, and was also applying for a job at a large corporation. The bother was...

Woman Is Overrated

...Women are the counterparts of men. Their roles have changed over the course of time. In today’s society they are at their peak point. Because they exist in all parts of our society. From schools to hospitals, from business sector to space, from politics to football. They are everywhere and can do everything or, at least they think so, a man can. One may think that this is a good sign of cooperation between men and women. But is it in reality? It’s a man’s world and women should take their dirty hands off our business. In most of the ancient societies women were treated very badly. They were seen as scums. They couldn’t own a property or had individual freedom to get married. They were forced to walk behind their husbands and widows couldn’t remarry. They were inferior to men and source of temptation and evil. According to Greek mythology it was a woman called Pandora who opened the box that Zeus gave to her and brought plague and unhappiness to mankind. There are many other famous sayings that discredit women. Among these are; • Woman, you are the devil’s gateway.” Tertullian • Woman is the gate of the devil, the path of wickedness, the sting of the serpent, in a word a perilous object. St. Jerome • In fact, even though the man was created outside of paradise, he is found to be superior. Ambrose the bishop of Milan • Women are on earth to bear children. If they die in childbearing, it matters not; that is all they are here to do. Martin Luther Male dominancy went on until...

Masculinity in Death of a Salesman

...is caught between two worlds, unable to provide for his family as well as he would like. Therefore, Willy feels he doesn’t live up to what he should be doing as a man. Throughout the play, Willy demonstrates the intense social pressures felt by men during this time. At the beginning of the play, Willy’s career as a salesman is coming to a bitter end. With his mind and body deteriorating from age and years of disappointment, Willy is in denial of his continued failure which he has been attempting to cover up for many years, for instance when he vastly exaggerates how much he made on his trip in his first flashback, initially claiming to have made “five hundred gross in Providence and seven hundred gross in Boston”, before conceding that he actually only made “roughly two hundred gross on the whole trip”. In this instance, and indeed throughout the play, Willy is trying to preserve his waning sense of masculinity, which has taken a devastating blow at the hands of drastic economic changes in the 1950’s. With the rise of catalogues and shopping malls, success has come to mean something entirely different for Willy and the rest of America, and whether or not he is able to achieve it for his family is, to him, the ultimate test of his masculinity. Unfortunately, Willy’s age and old-fashioned ideals within the business world make this very difficult for him, yet his thirst for the American Dream is just as strong. His complete obsession with the new consumer...

Arguments Against Interracial Dating

...Initially, a male’s physique is what catches my eye first. A tall, muscular built guy with dark brown skin is how I like my potential mates to  look. Though I am not against interracial dating, my preference is African American heterosexual males. With a nice smile and a deep toned voice, I cannot resist. I don’t like dating guys who are exactly my age. I don’t feel as if they are mature enough to handle my intellect. I think I am attracted to guys who are very much like me. Not saying that I don’t enjoy childish play, I just enjoy the company of men who are at least 1 to 3 years older than me. A man of God would be the best thing ever, but as long as he has a relationship with God, I am willing to accept him. At the age of 22 or 23, I don’t expect a guy to have it all together, but I do at least expect them to have a plan for their future. I would like for my mate to have stability; a decent place to stay, a car, and a decent job. I like my partner to show off their masculinity; aggressive, defensive, protective, and providing who doesn’t mind the “heavy lifting,” however, in private, I like to see a...
