The Salvation Army

It is an international, nonprofit, religious organization. It is committed to helping the less fortunate and help by giving assistance to the very needed. They focus on helping people to change their way of life. An English Methodist minister by the name of William Booth founded the Salvation Army in 1865. The Salvation Army was first known as the “ Christian Mission “ that would help with issues like social welfare for the people who lived in the Urban slums. Their mission was to help with prostitution, alcoholism, gambling and other things that put people in the situations like homelessness. Catherine Booth the wife of William was the co-founder. The first international site for the Salvation Army which was in New York City was led by seven women and George Scott Railton. The Salvation Army has many people pay their electric bills, water bills, and providing ways for the homeless to eat and to have a place to stay on those cold winter nights. Coat drives have held by the Salvation Army. Along with military the Salvation Army make sure that the less fortunate children have a toy for Christmas. They have made care packages for the military and for other states and countries where disasters have occurred. The national headquarter is located in Alexandria, Virginia and London servers at the international headquarters. The Salvation Army is similar to the military by following the chain of command, by
Business Research Ethics 3 Giving their personnel titled rank. Unethical Research Practices that should be avoided They should not show prejudice towards someone because of the sexual preference. If someone came to the Salvation Army for a job or because they were in need, and they were gay and they were turned down for a job or assistance. This is very unethical and their laws that against doing thing like this. Racism is something real and we can find it anywhere and everywhere, but we don’t need to be a part of it. If in doing research and what is being told to you is confidential and you share this information with someone else is unethical. If someone in the Salvation Army were to take personal files home that they do not have access to and they share the information with someone else is unethical. Parties that are involved that Could Face Injury and the Injuries that Could Occur The parties that could face injury would be the leaders. Starting with whomever is at the top and work their way down the chain of command. When there is no communication or never coming out of your office to see what is going on in your organization. People could lose their jobs, lawsuits could be filed and end up in bankruptcy. All parties involved should always know what is going on around them and with the people that they are working with to make sure that they are following the research protocol.
Business Research Ethics 4 How Unethical Behavior can affect the Organization, the Individual and Society When someone within the Salvation Army does not follow the code of conduct the repercussions could be very serious. For the organization and the individual there could be an investigation into the company and into the life of the individual. For the individual the unethical behavior could result in disciplinary action/ termination without notice and without payment. The organization and the individual could face civil and or criminal charges. The affects this unethical behavior could cause society lose their trust of the company. Society could hold protest and stop dealing with the Salvation Army all together.

Monitoring and Resolving Unethical Behavior The managers or the team leaders at the Salvation Army should communicate with the employees. The managers, team leaders and the owners should lead by example because their employees look to them as to how they should conduct themselves. Monitor the people that are in leadership positions for the same ethical values. Employees should be held accountable for their unethical actions. Inform the new employees about the rules of the organization during the orientation process. If one of the employees act unethically the owner, others that are in leadership should refer to the code of conduct, take the necessary action of warning or termination. When you have loyal employees the owners and others that hold a leadership position should Business Research Ethics 5
Show the employees that they appreciate their hard work. A loyal employee is less likely to behave unethically. Instead of giving the responsibilities to just one person, start a systems check and balances to contain unethical behavior. Hire for values and just not education and experience if you want to prevent unethical behavior. Look at potential employees' values to make sure that they with the culture of the organization. Salvation Army has been around way before some of us were ever born. They help people to let them know that they are alone, which they fall upon hard times. They have provided for many families that lost their homes in fires and had nowhere to go. What I think is one of the outstanding things that do is the Angel Tree Program. This program makes sure that children whose parents are incarcerated, that they get a present with the parents name on the present. They visit the prisons and give the inmates a small gift that includes Christmas cards to their families. All businesses have had positives and negatives, but I think that the Salvation Army sits high on the scale of positive businesses.
