Dear Mrs. Walker, We would like to thank you for your dedication and hard work you have provided this company over the years. You may be aware of the increase in gas prices. Due to the rise, it is causing higher costs to the company as well as inflating gas bills for managers and employees commuting to work. We want to take this opportunity to inform you of the upcoming changes to our retail chains. These changes should ease your current position, save our employees’ money and time, and in the end guarantee the survival of our company.

Effective February 1, 2010, a workday will consist of 10 hours. This will allow full-time employees to take an additional day off each week. Full-time employees will still work 40 hours every week. Part-time employees will combine their hours into shorter workweeks as well, not to exceed three days. Our stores will no longer open on Sundays. During the week, all stores will open an hour later and close an hour early.
