Globalization and me: what impacts could it be?

According to Word Power Dictionary, globalization comes from word globalize which means develop (business, society, etc.) so as to make international influence or action possible. Other than that, globalization can be define as the increasing connectivity and interdependence of the world’s economies, societies, and cultures because of advances in communications, technology, trade, international investment movement of currency, and migration. In my opinion, technology is the big roles or function that brings the globalization. Same as Kenichi Ohmea words, globalization as a borderless world seeks to change the world into a single unit only. This process is easier with the advances in communication technology. There are numerous ways in which globalization has impacted the world. The globalization has impacted on education, economic, culture, language, food and others.
Globalization also means the phenomenon that makes the world seem smaller in terms of human relations due to the speed of development of information technology. Human easily get information and difficult to filter the negative elements that permeate the hearts and minds. Some terms such as “borderless worlds” and “open skies” make such as trade, the development of political and economic power towards the development of civilization.
Education is the process of receiving and giving systematic instruction, especially at school and university. There are positive and negative impacts of globalization on education. Globalization causes the education more open to the outside world either to study or to open branches of university in other country. In addition, the advances of technology assist the education to improve the competitiveness and quality of world-class education. The acquisition of knowledge is also not limited by the book but can be via internet.
In addition, through globalization, it can broaden the knowledge teachers globally. As we know, the teacher should always maintain its intellectual value because the teacher is an agent of change in product quality or human capital that is needed in our country. The teachers can improve ICT skills and global interaction which is expanding the concept of learning to overcome the classroom through globalization. For example, with ICT skills, teachers can carry out the teaching and learning process that includes providing student with unlimited experiences. Hence, the country can produce the high quality of human capital.

Economic is also one of effects that occur due to globalization. The positive impacts on economic are encourages for the exchanging of technology and market expansion. For the technology exchange, it is occur through globalization of modern technology and exchange of expertise from developed countries to build modern economy and become a developed country. Indirectly, we require to learning about the advanced technology in order to become expertise, and we are also can develop new technology for our country. Besides, economic will increase through market expansion. In order to expand the market, we need to remove the protection policies and restrictions tariffs and eliminate of stockpile. Then market can provide the opportunities to enter in developed countries with equal rights. This is because the globalization gives the power to the market forces of demand and tastes of consumers in transaction of goods and services. Trade flows between countries will lead to increased national economic. Countries will benefit from the removal of trade barriers, a lower tax base. For example, in Southeast Asia, the introduction of ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) is the effect from globalization. Among of ASEAN countries can enter the other markets easily and get benefit from it.
The negative impacts of globalization on economics are economic downturn, economic pressure and the burden to care of poverty and the invasion of new economy. The inflow of international capital into country and Asia Pacific led the finances become unstable. This incident occurs because the money just can across the borders of each country using the system or computer only. When the foreign country withdraws their capital from one country, it is will lead the country onto bankruptcy, unemployment increases and economic distress. Globalization is also causes the elimination of special privileges and subsidies for poor, and domestic banks will be monopoly by big company and economy control by foreign investors. Although our country is a developed country through globalization, it will cause the invasion of new economy. Open economy policy is one of the factors that will cause the economic monopoly in a country. The other country will exploit local labor with low wages. Globalization in market free will cause foreign capital’s flow is difficult to control.
As we can see in Malaysia, they are protecting the local industries by implementation of policies to prevent the local industries are being negative impact from globalization. Malaysia has also benefited from the globalization of world trade due to economic growth of the country’s export growth. In addition, Malaysia has taken the opportunity from the beginning process of globalization in electronics industry which is provide a liberal environment for operation of international companies and Penang is the one place that called Free Trade Zone.
The globalization has many effects on language and culture both positive and negative. However, with globalization allowing languages and cultures to spread and dominate on global scale, it also leads to the extinction of other languages and cultures. Language contributes to the formation of culture through vocabulary, greetings or humor, behaviors and others. Language is in a sense the substance of culture. Languages serve as important symbols of group belonging, enabling different groups of people know what ethic groups we belong to, and what common heritages we share. Without language, people would lose their cultural identity. Languages are the essential medium in which the ability to communicates across the world.
Although language has benefit through globalization, there is also the negative effect. It will impact on minority language. Dialects and regional languages are extinct from the world and English language becomes the world language or primary communication language. Indeed, globalization can bring some dialects and regional language whose are endangered to become a known language in way revive that language. For example, in Peru, they sponsor a program that benefits speaker of Quechua language as well as other minority languages.
In some country, although their language is not primary language in the world, but they are still in modern country and more advanced and not outdated. Like Japan and Korea, they are very proud of their language and always maintain their language. If we in these country, indirectly we need to learn or try to speak in their language. Majority of the Japanese do not know other language especially English. It shows that the globalization not influence in their language.
Other than that, globalization can get rid of the uniformity among the big languages. Major languages such as English will become the victims as these languages are being use in various places and regions. When English language being use in worldwide, there is the possibility of taking grammar for granted. With the ease of communication through digital such as email, chat, twitter, Facebook and others, we use it for across the world and form for speed. We will use short form words in writing email and in informal style. Indirectly, the art of good writing will disappear.
Worldwide use of English language will decline in foreign language learning among English speakers. Although there are many people learning English and bilingual, the globalization of languages will decrease the motivation for English speaker to learn other languages. For example, foreign language learning in both U.S and U.K are declined. Food is one of the cultures that impact on globalization. We have a huge selection of food and beverages. Variety of foods was offered such as fresh food, fast food, junk food and others. Fast food is one of people’s favourites and choices because people are busy. Some countries feel that their country will be threatened by the advanced of globalization. They had been running some tactics to dominated food sources of some country. For example, they promote or introduce the McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Wendy’s Hamburgers and others in Malaysia. This kind of food will led the Malaysian to forget the traditional food like nasi lemak, rendang, ketupat and other foods. These foods become the choice of people because the source of food readily available, simple and fast compared to food should be cooked.
As we can see today, Japanese food already in any place. The restaurant and franchises are also growing. The food in U.S is increasingly popular in Japan and other parts of country. For example, McDonalds has 10,500 restaurants or franchises in 50 countries in the world while Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has more than 7,750 restaurants or franchises in 58 countries. This phenomena occurs when globalization effect on food industry. Indirectly, all people around the world will have the same taste, preference, and favourite of food through globalization.
Mass media is a tool used in the delivering of messages from the sources to the audience using a mechanical of communication such as newspapers, films, radio and television. Mass media is also the tool that helps globalization impact on cultures and morals or ethics. The mass media is an important aspect in development and progress of a country because it can provide a source of information and updates. Mass media are giving a great influence on the formation of public morals. For example, films and magazines from around the world that shows the unethical as free mixing between men and women, dances and inappropriate fashion with eastern cultures. This is contrary to the values and norms that are rooted in the culture of the eastern community.
The presence of globalization does not only have a negative impact but also the positive impact of globalization on mass media or internet. It enables search, distribution and transfer of knowledge and information become easy, fast and cheap. Through the internet, all the knowledge and information generated in any part of the world can be transferred to and known by the people in other countries. This situation can bridge the gap between science and civilization of the inhabitants of the world.

Globalization with the internet and improvement of physical contact such as rail, ship and air transportation that can bridge the powerful relationship between people and creating an mutual understanding between the people around the world. In short, globalization has positive and negative effects. It is up to human ingenuity to take advantage from the globalization. Therefore, Muslims must take the advantages from this globalization as possible. Among the ways that can be used by Muslims is to provide and get the useful knowledge and information as much as possible.
In addition, internet also can be used as the ways to spread the teachings of Islam and convey values to the people around the world. Nowadays, we find only Western people is very active used of transportation and communication technology including internet to spread the way of life and way of thinking to other communities. As a result, Western culture is more widely accepted throughout the world, including the Muslims itself.
There are studies that show that children and adolescents aged 12 to 17 years is the largest use of the internet. As a result, 90 percent of them use the internet at school, at home and in everyday life. They are mostly did not understand the advantages and disadvantages of the internet.
Meanwhile, the study found that most owners of Twitter account that most followers in the world is the entertainment field. List of top three is Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Katy Perry. Indirectly, it shows that the entertainment field has dominated and affected the youth. Internet facility can be accessed by 90% of the world’s population especially among teenagers.
Conclusion, globalization has been effect on many ways in our life. There are positives and negatives impact of globalization. Each of us needs to identify and verify which can be benefits and not. Indeed, globalization is important in order to develop a modern country and quality of human capital.

...The Business Enterprise 1.) Discuss the common elements described in the theories/philosophies of Case, Kouzes, and Drucker including how their principles/strategies relate to the new definition of entrepreneurial leadership presented in Understanding Entrepreneurial Leadership in today’s Dynamic Markets. Case, Kouzes and Drucker each have good theories and philosophies on entrepreneurship and leadership. Each had different ways of stating what they thought made a good entrepreneur but for the most part focus on some of the same things and agreed that with the right balance of these characteristics then succeeding, as an entrepreneur would be possible. One of the common elements that each focused on was people. Interaction with people is important when it comes to entrepreneurship and leadership skills according to Case, Kouzes, and Drucker. Each inferred that if a person does not have people skills, then the person would not succeed as an entrepreneur or a leader. People skills would be the ability to motivate others and interact. A leader cannot lead without being able to interact with people. Starting a business requires interaction with people on some level. Another common element that they all thought were important was not being afraid to take risk. Taking a risk in order to monopolize an industry to succeed is important. ...The United States exists in a capitalistic economy meaning that private enterprise is based on fair competition, economic freedom, and private ownership therefore; business is the heartbeat of our economy. Everything from manufacturing, health care, sales, and agriculture involves business in some way. Businesses provide jobs and produce goods and services that we depend on every day (What Role Does Business Play in Our Economy..?). They pay state and federal taxes to the government on their services provided. The taxes paid by businesses and the people employed by them allow the government to function. Looking at businesses in this way you can clearly see that business is a pivotal part of the economy. Within our economy two types of business organizations exist: for-profit and nonprofit. A for-profit organization will produce goods or services in the hopes of making revenue off its products. Most organizations you think of today are probably a for-profit establishment. Organizations that are classified as not-for-profit or nonprofit often operate under the guise of the emotional appeal of compassion but can also become major economic engines. They are business like establishments but unlike a for-profit business, their primary goals do not include making monetary profits. For profit businesses operate to generate revenue under the idea to have more profit than loss at the end of the day. Unlike for- profit businesses, nonprofits are organizations that are......

...Recording Transactions Keeping business records accurate and up to date is important for the smooth running of a business. The business owner must record all of the money coming into the business from successful sales of the product and all of the money going out, such as expenses including money owed for storage, wages that are paid and money to purchase the stock. If a business fails to do this it may find itself not chasing payments, forgetting to pay bills or, even in trouble with HM Revenue and Customs. If the business does not record its transactions correctly, it cannot report its financial performance accurately and therefore tax payments may be wrong. By recording the sales made, the business owner is given a clear indication of what’s popular and so it becomes clear what products should have increased stock or altered price. In your case, it is very important that you monitor your sales as a new business will most likely not make any profit straight away, so it’s vital to record your transactions so you are able to at least breakeven until more customers become aware of your business and you can start to make a profit. Furthermore, since you have negotiated a one month credit with a supplier, it is important to record your transactions so you know that you can repay the supplier after the month has passed and avoid any consequences. It would be beneficial to you if you could keep your credit supply as then you will have money coming in from your customers to......
