An issue important to me Very quickly in the past two years I realized the kind of person I am. I am an enthusiastic boisterous person that is moved by the dreams and aspirations of others. I absolutely love the intrinsic motivation of people. The want to pursue a purpose in life and love what is created by them. We all have a talent vested within us waiting to be flourished at the right time. I have a strong sense of optimism that this is imbedded within every human soul on this planet. If I speak to someone that doesn’t know nor has no basis of some sort of desire to chase or acquire, I really like to try and cultivate and bring out these aspirations for that person. Not only does this bring me closer to someone but it lifts the spirits and pride of anyone I talk to. For example, I remember speaking to a girl in pre-calculus. No one really talked to her; she always looked down and stayed in the corner. This really bothered me that bothered me that no one would give her the light of day, so I spoke to her. When I introduced myself the light on her face was as if the Berlin wall just fell down. She had a beautiful smile that I never knew of because she never did. I asked her for her name and complemented on its uniqueness. I was overthrown with warmth to know that these little nuances of politeness do not go unappreciated. I didn’t ask her how her day was; I didn’t ask her how her week was or what her favorite color was to fill in the silence. I looked at her into the beautiful green eyes that seemed to glisten for the very first time and I asked, “What is your dream?” You should have heard her. There was no stopping her. Every word that she said was a vessel of strong aspirations and flourishing of beautiful ideas and expressions. She spoke with such a profound feeling of emotion and intellect. I was amazed by how colorful and how vivid her dreams were. There was so much detail in her words and so much love for her desires. Everything was also so concrete and so logical. There was no question as for how but when everything fell into place. She expressed her words with so much rigor and efficiency I fell in love with her ideas. I was an advocate of every word spoken and motivated every thought expressed. I enjoyed being the ambassador of every tangible idea. The bell rung and school was over, I walked her to her vehicle still coming down from the high of her enthusiasm, as I opened the door to her car she leaped into my arms crying blissful sobs saying “thank you”, over and over again. She felt that I was the one thing she needed to finally get over all the fear and dismay that she had in order to pursue her happiness. This series of event brought an issue very dear to me. The pursuit of happiness, an unalienable right enumerated in the declaration of independence, in addition to life and liberty; the right to pursue any legal activity as long as it doesn’t infringe on the rights of others. This right rings in my ear like hymns in a church choir. This right gives me hope, and lets me have hope in others. This girl I spoke with had a pursuit of happiness; she wanted to have purpose to her life. She wanted to own her creations and be proud of them. These pursuits were owned by her and no one could take them away. Does this sound selfish? Is it bad to let her mind flourish? Today as progress into the future it seems to me as though there are things that are holding us back from our pursuits. America is the place where we all have a chance to fulfill our purpose and leave our footprint behind, but with recent governmental decisions that have taken place in the past five years seems that pursuing a dream has become more difficult. The pursuit of happiness is our right, why should anyone say that it is wrong to express it? A mother only breast feeds her child for so long, after a while the child ages and matures and is then able to eat and accomplish other things. I feel this ties into governmental regulations very well that in some retrospect it is always good to fend for one’s self and try to pursue ones happiness rather than weigh down the pursuits of others. There are exceptions in the world but there but can the world get anywhere without great minds that pursued their sense of purpose and happiness.
