Now,more and more people care about animal rights. In the U.S, some state have issued legal to protect them and give them some basic rights. States like Florida, Arizona, and Oregon have passed successful propositions which have hindered safe livestock husbandry. In addition, Colorado has automatically agreed to die out veal crates and gestation crates to avoid having to place the issue on a ballot. On August 9, 2007, animal rights groups go on to propose livestock housing legislation by filing another state petition. This law suit legislation regulating livestock production in California , including the “Treatment of Farm Animals Statute” on the November 2008 general election ballot. Proposition 2 which is includes limits on minimum space requirements for the confinement of veal calves, gestating sows, and laying hens.
That is the California proposition2 comes from. Even though, the eggs price increase but consider the chicken they would have a good cote to laying hens.Do you know how much space do they have before the chicken cage size law come out? They just have 116 square inches of space, how do you think? What a horrible things! That's less than a one-foot by one-foot space that a chicken has to live in all its life. I'm not rich, but I want to pay extra for free range because I don't like to eat food from tortured animals if I can avoid it. It also made me care about the eggs’ health, foot by foot space for chicken’s live would like a incubator, thousands and thousands of bacteria and virus are bred there. Imagine under the circumstances, the eggs are really can be ate? The answer is not.
Because of the cage law come out, every farmer in California should rebuild a new cage for the chicken and the new cage would more bigger than the old one, those would cost farmer’s money, that’s why the eggs’ price increase.I do not care about the eggs price increase I just

California Proposition 184: The Three Strike Initiative

...The 1910 California gubernatorial election of Governor Hiram Johnson brought direct democracy to the California after the initiative, referendum and recall were introduced to the California Constitution in 1911. Initiatives are proposal for new statures of constitutional provision that is drafted by a citizen, which can be later voted on by the state electorate. Reform arrived to California after years of political corruption and career politicians that monopolized public policy influence. Initiatives enhance the democratic process, it allows citizens to propose solutions to problems. It can pass laws that would otherwise not pass through the legislature. For example, California Proposition 184: the Three Strike Initiative, was passed by the voters in 1994 after failing to become a law through the legislature a few years before. This law has been critical to how California has dealt with repeat criminal offenders. The legislature does not always pass the laws that the people want, as seen with the Three Strike Law, the initiative process gives the people an alternative to influence policy. The California legislature is considering a bill that would raise the initiative registration fees to deter Californianas from introducing...

Cal Props

...VOTES ON CALIFORNIA PROPOSITIONS Taking the voting season spirit, I would like to share my opinion toward 3 propositions which appeal me most as follows: 1) Proposition 30: a. What is Prop 30? i. Sponsors / Proponents: The prop 30 is sponsored by Gov. Jerry Brown; California Federation of Teachers; and California Teachers Association ii. Effect on taxes: 1. Prop 30 would increase rates on taxable incomes above US$500,000; 2. Prop 30 would increase sales tax rate by a quarter-cent. iii. Impact on state budget and implications for school funding: 1. Raise on taxes would result in gain of revenues. These revenues would be deposited into a newly created Education Protection Account within the State’s General Fund 2. Revenues would also increase funding for K – 12 schools and community colleges b. My stance on this proposition: as a college student, I would be absolutely voting YES because of the following reasons: i. Stop another $6 billion in cuts to our schools this year. ii. Prevent steep tuition hikes for college students and their families. iii. Invest in our schools and colleges so we can prepare the next generation for the jobs of the future. In conclusion, if this prop does not pass, our classes will become enormous, our teachers will be removed and stripped of their livelihoods, and our education will suffer immensely. 2) Proposition 34: a. What is Prop 34? This initiative shall be known and may be cited as “The Savings, Accountability, and Full Enforcement for California...

An Outline of Kendall Watson's Theory "Art as Make-Believe"

...“various games that involved pretending” (240). a. As kids make up these “principles of generation” (244) that transforms otherwise ordinary objects into “props” (243), and from these come “fictional truths” (243) that they let themselves “imagine” (245) and find pleasure in experiencing this alternate world, so is the process that undergoes when experiencing art. 2. A “fictional truth” is a proposition that is “true in some fictional world or the other” (243). a. A fictional truth is different from an “imagining” (244) in such a way that these fictional truths are “true” in the fictional world that one subjects himself to, whether or not he imagines them to be “true” (244). b. A proposition is then said to be “fictional” if it holds as real in the make-believe world. 3. A “fictional truth” is conjured from a prop and the principle of generation. a. The principle of generation is the “certain convention, understanding, [and] agreement in the game of make-believe” (244), which turn objects into props, “generators of fictional truths, that which make propositions fictional” (244). 4. Props are established by principles of generation, regardless of the observer’s active imagining of them as something else in make-believe. That which prompts imagination, moreover, may not be a prop as there exists no principle that establishes them as a prop (245). 5. Works of art are representations, meaning, they are made “specifically for the purpose of being used...

Averch Effect

...restricted to a value s. In order for the firm to be able to finance its operations, secure funds for its investments, the firm has to be able to earn a return equivalent to its cost of capital r. As it is difficult to determine the exact cost of capital and there is a hard constraint that the permitted rate of return should not be less that r the permitted rate s will typically be above r. The usual (and somewhat misleading) statement of the Averch Johnson result is that because s > r there is an incentive for the firm to overinvest in capital to earn higher absolute values of profit. This can lead to a number of conclusions (some true some false). These can be characterised as. Proposition 1 The input choice chosen by the firm subject to rate of return regulation will not be the cost minimising choice.[TRUE] 1 Proposition 2 The...

Absolute Truth

...Absolute Truth can be defined as "the real state of facts and reality”, an accepted statement or proposition. Some suggest that there is no true reality, only perceptions and opinions, while others argue that there must be some absolute basis. With this being said, we can say that there are two diametrically-opposed beliefs related to absolute truth: There are no absolutes that define reality. Everything is relative, and thus there is no actual reality. There is ultimately no authority for deciding if an action is positive or negative; right or wrong. There are absolutes that define what is real and what is not. Thus, actions can be deemed right or wrong based upon how they measure up against these absolute standards. I’m a firm catholic believer and the catholic perspective on absolute truth should be determined by the one who is the ultimate authority, or maker, of all things. So for any of those who believe in God the absolute truth is derived from properly understanding who God is and what His "will" is for His creation. Propositions, in logic, are statements that can be labeled as either true or false. All of the examples you just heard and saw are complete statements that you can say are either true or false. Propositions are the objects of attitudes and the primary carriers of truth and falsity. This stipulation rules out certain candidates for propositions, including thoughts which are not sharable, and concrete events or facts, which cannot be false. Reference:...
