Camping with my papa

The other night I was lying in by comfy bed, daydreaming about my new truck, when an odor jerked me back to reality. The sweet aroma of freshly squeezed orange juice. It reminded me of the vacations I took with my papa to Florida. I will never forget the fresh smell of the air when we stepped out of the van upon our arrival at the campsite. The crisp, salty smell of the ocean and the soft, powdery feel of the white sand between your toes took away all the weariness of the long, boring ride. The first thing I would do is change into my bathing suit and run out to the beach. My brother and I would spend the day splashing in the salty water, until we were too tired to keep our heads above the water. Then we would lie under the umbrella and let the cool breeze sweep over us as we drifted off to sleep for a much needed nap. When we awoke, it felt so good to have the bright sun blazing down on me. My favorite thing to do was build gigantic sand castles on the beach. My papa and I would have contests to see who could build the tallest sand castle. The grains of sand glistened in the sun like diamonds. Our campsite was always close to an orange grove that backed up to the RV park. I will never forget how the gigantic orange trees towered over me. Every day my papa would pick me an orange; they were so juicy! Every time I think about an orange, my mouth waters, and I think of how sweet they taste and how sweet my papa was. In the mornings we would walk to this little breakfast place called The Breakfast Shack. I would usually get pancakes oozing with syrup, but sometimes I would live on the edge and get a waffle instead. No matter what, I would always have a tall glass of orange juice. For some reason it always tasted different in Florida. My mom told me it was because it was fresh squeezed. During the evenings, we all went to sit on…...

...haughtiness and gracefulness, and her laughing brown eyes betrayed great natural cleverness and abundant enjoyment of life and goodness of heart. She was called the "little girl," which she had to suffer only because her beautiful slender mother was a full hand's breadth taller than she. Effi had just stood up again to perform her calisthenic exercises when her mother, who at the moment chanced to be looking up from her embroidery, called to her: "Effi, you really ought to have been an equestrienne, I'm thinking. Always on the trapeze, always a daughter of the air. I almost believe you would like something of the sort." "Perhaps, mama. But if it were so, whose fault would it be? From whom do I get it? Why, from no one but you. Or do you think, from papa? There, it makes you laugh yourself. And then, why do you always dress me in this rig, this boy's smock? Sometimes I fancy I shall be put back in short clothes yet. Once I have them on again I shall courtesy like a girl in her early teens, and when our friends in Rathenow come over I shall sit in Colonel Goetze's lap and ride a trot horse. Why not? He is three-fourths an uncle and only one-fourth a suitor. You are to blame. Why don't I have any party clothes? Why don't you make a lady of me?" CHAPTER I "Should you like me to?" "No." With that she ran to her mother, embraced her effusively and kissed her. "Not so savagely, Effi, not so passionately. I am always disturbed when I see you thus." 3 At this point three......

Albania

...theater was neither popular nor widespread in Albania before World War I (1914-1918).The first Albanian play, Emma, was written in 1887 by an Italian-Albanian, Anton Santo ri, and dealt with themes of the Albanian diaspora (migration to other countries). Instead of accurately portraying daily life, prewar drama depicted the romantic patriotism of the past.Under the Communists, theater became a weapon of propaganda, and new theaters and plays with Communist themes were encouraged. The plays, however, were subjected to more rigorous censorship than written literature, thereby crushing much creativity and stunting the growth of a native theater. Foreign theater companies were also banned.Nevertheless, a few talented play writers, including Lon Papa, emerged in this period. In the mid-1990s theater continued to lag behind Albanian literature in its development.Cinema is also undeveloped. During the Communist period, films, like plays, focused on heroics. Popular themes included the anti-Turk struggles of folk hero Scanderbeg (also spelled Skenderbeg), Albanian resistance to assimilation by foreigners, and the clash between tradition and change.Although there are fewer political restrictions on film today than in the Communist era, a lack of money and technical resources continues to hamper the growth of Albanian film. | | he international terms "Albania" and "Albanian" are based on the root *alb- , *arb- , which also is the source of the word Arberesh , which is used to......

THERE were four of us - George, and William Samuel Harris, and myself, and Montmorency. We were sitting in my room, smoking, and talking about how bad we were - bad from a medical point of view I mean, of course. We were all feeling seedy, and we were getting quite nervous about it. Harris said he felt such extraordinary fits of giddiness come over him at times, that he hardly knew what he was doing; and then George said that HE had fits of giddiness too, and hardly knew what HE was doing. With me, it was my liver that was out of order. I knew it was my liver that was out of order, because I had just been reading a patent liver-pill circular, in which were detailed the various symptoms by which a man could tell when his liver was out of order. I had them all. It is a most extraordinary thing, but I never read a patent medicine advertisement without being impelled to the conclusion that I am suffering from the particular disease therein dealt with in its most virulent form. The diagnosis seems in every case to correspond exactly with all the sensations that I have......
