They all gathered at the Tabard inn at Southwark during April to go on a pilgrimage. All of them agreed to tell stories to pass time on their way to the shrine of Saint Thomas à Becket. The one who draws the shortest had to start the story and the knight got the chance to start the stories. Everyone on the pilgrimage got treated equally, they all got same accommodations and food no matter they are good or bad, wealthy or so. But whoever rebels the rules and be disrespect to others on the pilgrimage have to pay the journey costs. The characters have more differences. Saints who are Knight, Parson, and Plowman are different from the scoundrels such as the pardoner, friar and others. A Research Into How Dissolution of Power Creates Identity Through Repetition in Italian High Renaissance Art

...Liberta, "In our opinion, we think that currently only communism is able to provide a new culture". What heightened the controversy with regards to his political ideological inclinations is that whilst it was evident in his art works that he disdained Feudalism Pasolini was still not a member the Country’s Community Party (PCI) which embraced ideas akin to his. This was contrary to common expectations given his public denouncements of the Bourgeoisie and the entirety of the feudalist social and societal conventions. Petrolio by Pier Paolo Pasolini is text loaded with literary meaning and import, the text saddled with dissolution, dissociation and identity thematic concerns has been appropriately conferred the monumental tag. This research paper explores the thematic matters pertaining to the creation of identity in typical modern and industrialised society plagued by a disintegration of cultural...

Fanfiction

...Chapter 1 The Problem and Its Background This section discusses the background of the thesis research entitled. “--”. The general and specific problems, significance of the study, scope and limitation, the framework of the study, and definition of terms used are presented here I. Introduction Fan fiction also known as, fanfiction, fanfic, FF, or fic is a defined term for fan labor about stories of characters or simply fictional characters and settings written by fans of the original work, rather than by the original creator. Works of fan fiction are rarely commissioned or approved by the original work's owner, creator, or publisher; also, they are almost never professionally published. Because of this, many fanfics written often contain a disclaimer stating that the creator of the fanfic owns none of the characters. Fan fiction, therefore, is defined by being both related to its subject's canonical fictional universe and simultaneously existing outside the canon of that universe. Most fan fiction writers assume that their work is read primarily by other fans, and therefore tend to presume that their readers have knowledge of the canon universe (created by a professional writer) in which their works are based. Fan fiction, as the name suggests are works of fiction created by fans. Ranging from books to movies, eager aficionados re-create scenes and plots to fit their own fancy. While seemingly trite to some critics, the fan fiction community is a large and supportive...

Thesis • Your paper “proves” a thesis, a one or two sentence statement of your central idea. The thesis is usually placed at the end of the first paragraph, immediately after you introduce the topic. Although the thesis appears early in the paper, it is usually written late in the writing process, after you form your ideas and gather your supporting evidence. • Body • The body of your paper contains the evidence (specific examples and application) to support your thesis. • State viewpoints that oppose yours as effectively as you state your own. Remember HEAP--Honest Evaluation of Alternate Positions. Conclusion • The conclusion is the last chance the writer has to connect with the reader. A conclusion summarizes the paper’s main points with a sense of closure and completeness. • Summarize and/or conclude your paper in a way that helps the reader evaluate whether or not you did what you said you would do. Do not introduce any new material. Include a “killer” statement in the conclusion that leaves no doubt in the reader’s mind that you prove your thesis. Daily returns from 2 January 1998 to 4 November 2009 of the crude oil spot, forward and futures prices from the WTI and Brent markets, and the FTSE100, NYSE, Dow Jones and S&P500 index returns, are analysed using the CCC model of Bollerslev (1990), VARMA-GARCH model of Ling and McAleer (2003), VARMA-AGARCH model of McAleer, Hoti and Chan (2008), and DCC model of Engle (2002). Based on the CCC model, the estimates of conditional correlations for returns across markets are very low, and some are not statistically significant, which means the conditional shocks are correlated only in the same market and not across markets. However, the DCC estimates of the conditional correlations are always significant. This result makes it clear...

Armitage Robinson, D.D, Fellow of the British Academy Dean of Wells 1921 London: Published for the British Academy By Humphrey Milford, Oxford University Press Amen Corner, E.C. PRINTED IN ENGLAND AT THE OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS BY FREDERICK HALI, 76$ J 9 2/ PREFACE The writer of these pages makes no claim to be a historian, but he is concerned with the materials which go to the construction of true history. Occasionally he is led to revise the verdicts of historians on the ground of a renewed investigation of some isolated problem, or in the light of fuller information which has but lately become available. He hopes that he has done this with sufficient modesty. As a rule he has avoided direct controversy and has preferred a positive presentation of the revised position. He is well aware that when offered thus silently the corrections he desires to make are less likely to attract immediate attention than if he directly challenged fallacies which shelter under honoured names. But he writes from mere love of the subjects to which he has been drawn by the circumstances of his position and by local patriotism ; and he has experienced more than once the temporary blindness pro- duced by the dust of conflict. On the other hand he asks for criticism, ...

Managing Change

...Business School, Canterbury, UK Pei-chun Lai University of Strathclyde Business School, Glasgow, UK Abstract It is becoming a commonplace statement that change initiative programmes are key tools to organisational long-term success. To this end, the last two decades have witnessed a surge of interest in the take-up of various change initiative programmes. Organisational change initiatives, we are told by many commentators, can maximise shareholder value (i.e. economic value theory) and develop organisational capabilities (i.e. organisational capability theory). Specifically, in recent years, as companies have been confronted by the conditions of heightened competition, globalisation, advancements in communications and information technologies, economic recession and simultaneously search for excellence, so the desire to take up change initiatives has interested the majority of leading organisations. At the same time, however, the analysis of the prospects for the majority of change management tools reveals so many deep-seated barriers to change with the consequence of little success in practice. This paper explores this apparent contradiction, arguing that, despite a heightened interest in the take-up of change initiatives, very few change programmes produce an improvement in bottom-line, exceed the company’s cost of capital, or even improve service delivery. It also offers an explanation of why this is the case. To provide empirical verification for this, the paper presents the...
