Cannuli steps: 1) Wash hands 2) Clean Trolley 3) Clean Tray 4) Wash hands 5) Get equipment and put it in tray unpackaged (syringe need be attached to needle) 6) Wash hands 7) Put on gloves 8) Break saline fluid cap, obtain fluid in the syringe, dispose needle, attach syringe cap to octopus, flush both entrances, remove gloves and wash hands 9) Introduce to patient, check details, explain procedure and reason and obtain consent 10) Put tourniquet on and find vein, put tourniquet off, clean vein area with chloroform sponge (30sec) 11) Let it dry (30sec) and put tournaqet back on 12) Put on gloves 13) Open wings of cannuli and remove plastic cover 14) Insert Cannuli at 30 degrees and obtain flashback 15) After primary flashback, pull the needle back and obtain secondary flashback 16) Then reduce angle and insert cannuli completely 17) Press vein and remove needle completely 18) Attach the octopus and flush it 19) Put stickers on
Running an IV infusion 1) Wash hands 2) Clean trolley 3) Wash hands 4) Unpack equipment but attach needle to syringe 5) Wash hands 6) Put on gloves 7) Draw up flush and reattach a NEW needle 8) Hang the fluid bag up and turn clamp off 9) Spike into port 10) Fill the drip chamber by squeezing 11) Release the clamp and run the fluid through making sure there is no air 12) Close the clamp 13) Secure the set 14) Remove gloves 15) Wash hands 16) Put on gloves 17)
