My career end goal is to become an animal conservationist. For this to become a reality there are several things I must do first with the current goal being to finish my education. I will be graduating this year moving on to a four-year institution where I plan on receiving my bachelor’s degree in Zoology. With this degree my career will be able to start at the entry level where I will then look to obtain my master’s. This has been my plan since I was a kid, I remember my mother telling me the bible stories of Noah’s ark and Daniel’s lion den and being so highly interested in the animals roles that it helped me understand the morals of these stories. Postgraduate Personal Development Planning

...Development Planning For Postgraduate Research Students Postgraduate Personal Development Planning 1 INTRODUCTION Personal Development Planning (PDP) is a process already present in most PhD supervision and study practices. PDP is ‘a structured and supported process undertaken by an individual to reflect upon their own learning, performance and/or achievement and to plan for their personal, educational and career development’ (QAA 2001). This handbook provides guidelines for Postgraduate Research students at Queen’s on what PDP involves and to help you to get the most out of the process. Please note that there may be slight variations or specific requirements for you in your School or subject area. Key features of PDP: • PDP is an ongoing process, not a single document, nor is it carried out at a single point in time. • It provides you with the opportunity to plan, reflect on and record your progress, development and achievements. • PDP formalises good practice in working for and supervising a research degree. • PDP is a structured and supported process. The structure and support is provided by: - The Skills Analysis Questionnaire - The Postgraduate Skills Training Programme (PSTP) - Records of meetings with your supervisor(s) - Training plans - Formal reviews – 3 month, differentiation, and annual monitoring - Records and evidence of your achievement - Your evaluation and reflection of your progress, achievements and skills - Your research diary or log book or project management...

Continuing Academic Success

...life and with business requires us to move in the direction of the goals we set for ourselves. Without goals we lack focus and direction. Goal setting allows us to take control of our life’s direction, and gives us a guide to determine if we are actually succeeding. To accomplish our goals, we need to know how to set them, it is a process that starts with consideration of what we want to achieve and ends with a lot of hard work to get there. Effective goal setting is the surest path to success. “They used their failures as learning experience and were not deterred from continuing to set goals. Instead each man held to a belief in himself as he continued to pursue goals in which he so strongly believed.” (Wilson & Dobson, 2008, p.16) Everything is a learning experience, the good and the bad, has something to teach us, it’s important that we pay attention to what that is. “On the contrary, you are likely to achieve goals that you align with your values and carefully developed, and that are supported by others.” (Sternberg &Wetzel S.R. 2001, pg. 7)Setting goals that motivate you is the first step to being successful, something that is important, that has value to me, is getting a degree in computers. This degree in computers allows to me to find a career in the computer industry, or I can work for my husband’s production company. The writing process is a crucial component in your education and career. How you write speaks volumes about you as a person. If you have incorrect...

...is out of their reach. In order to be able to provide yourself or your family with a short at a better life college is something that must be accomplished. When you are able to fulfill your goal of finishing your college education it makes looking to the future a little easier. In this particular research paper I will tell you how returning to college the best decision for my life was. How earning a college degree will make life easier? When you think about college and a career you want to choose a career that will bring you joy and that will never seem like you are tired. Some of us think that earning lot of money is the most important thing when choosing a career. It’s not, being able to enjoy what you do will make life easier and seem as if you are not working but doing a hobby. Remembering back at my high school days a teacher told us to find something we are good at and enjoy and make a career out of it. I am learning the importance of not picking a career that has the highest earning potential because it could be a job that I am miserable. Choosing something you love will never feel like work. When a person finish college and obtain a degree they are more than likely able to earn more money than a high school or GED graduate. A person should never get into a career that will have them stressed out on a daily basic’s. If we keep in mind that working should be awarding and fun, then there will be no time for stress. Finally, when you are doing something...

With this in mind, it is widely accepted that organisational culture not only has an impact on performance (Brown 2008; Andersen et al 2009) but has been described as one of the most powerful and stable forces operating in organizations (Lamond 2003). The other axis that is included to create this model represents the struggle of balancing the internal organisation and the external business environment. One end of this axis would imply a strong company focus on integration and buffering to protect and sustain the current organisation,...
