During the internship I worked in the stroke and Nero unit. Here I learned the real setting of a hospital and how nurses, and doctors react in stressful situations. Once summer ended and I had begun my junior year I decided to take Anatomy and health science. Anatomy and physiology was

Mentee

...Essay One: Mentee The purpose of this essay is to discuss how I identify myself as an early careerist in understanding my goal of climbing a ladder in leadership, the reason I need mentoring and its importance, describing what my mentor does professionally, and his or her possessed traits and why is this important to me. I may say that a professional leadership is a combination of both theoretical and practical work-experience an individual achieves through education and hand-on practice in organizational daily activities to plan, execute, and implement. First and foremost, I will distinguish the two mutualistic terms: these are mentor and mentee. To say it one way or another, a mentor gives advice while a mentee receives advice. According to Ledlow and Coppola (2011), mentor is “a person of greater knowledge or wisdom who shares experience to help to develop the abilities of junior person;” mentee is “a person who seeks guidance or wisdom from a mentor” (Ledlow & Coppola, 2011). Currently I am a student who works at the entry-level job with hope to achieve a better learning that may pave a way for me to enter a professional market in healthcare. In this context, I consider myself as an earlier careerist after completing the program. Perhaps someday, I will get hired by a certain organization at junior position; despite the learning experience that I have acquired, I will surely expect to seek a mentor among seniors who have been in the organization for a longer...

The Unethical Act of Plagiarism

...The Unethical Act of Plagiarism Colorado Technical University Eng103-1401A-03 Composition Writing and Research   Plagiarism is an Unethical punishable act. Whether you are writing a research paper, business article, executive summary or school essay, it is imperative that you no not utilize an author’s words without giving the original author credit for his or her work. To plagiarize work is the same as stealing from a store, you are taking what does not belong to you. Unfortunately not all readers and writers feel that this is the case; however, if a writer chooses to plagiarize the act can cause great humiliation and harm to their career or education. In May of 2003, New York Times news reporter Jayson Blair resigned when his editor discovered evidence of several front page articles being plagiarized. (Hanson, C. H. R. I. S. T. O. P. H. E. R., Picard, R. G., & McMasters, P. (2004).) The scandal of plagiarism was so great that soon after Jayson Blair resigned the executive and managing editors also resigned their positions. Jayson Blair’s unethical act not only affected his career, it also cost the jobs and reputations of the two editors. The Macquarie dictionary describes Plagiarism as “the appropriation or imitation of another's ideas and manner of expressing them, as in art, literature, etc., to be passed off as one's own.” Plagiarism. (2005). Plagiarism is not only limited to the stealing of another authors words, but also the manner that the...

Susan Griffin

...day, our family and friends, are the ones directly connected to us. We meet someone new, another new connection in the web. We are even connected to people we have never met. Friends of friends, and people who we may never meet but have some indirect effect on us, form the outer circle of the web. We are all connected in some way to every other person. Susan Griffin explores this theory of a complex matrix of connections in her essay “Our Secret”. She employs a style of writing that uses several different threads of stories from her own experiences and the life of Heinrich Himmler, Chief of the Nazi SS, as well as references to seemingly unrelated topics such as missile production and cells to weave the fabric of her theory of universal interconnectedness. At first glance, each passage seems unrelated to the next, but after thorough reading a juxtaposition of the threads is evident. Through her entire essay, Griffin uses underlying themes that connect each thread and anecdote to one another. One of the main themes that is interwoven through her essay is child rearing and the effect that different styles of parenting have on the child later in life. One relationship between father and son she explores is Heinrich Himmler and his father Gebhard. Gebhard was a tyrannical father, not uncommon in Germany in the 1900s, who strove to instill a complete perfection into his son at a young age. “Crush the will. Establish dominance. Permit no disobedience. Suppress everything in the child...

Code of Conduct for Pharmacy Students ; Yay or Nay?

...Pharmacy students, upon entering their institutions, have to abide by a code of conduct usually higher than other students following a different career path. Students specialising in law, marketing or accounting do not have to maintain the high standard of professionalism that pharmacy students have to demonstrate whilst in school. Students have deemed this set of rules unfair and professionals insist that it has to be maintained in order to fully understand the grasp of pharmacy as a profession. Personally, I understand the need to abide by these rules but also agree with other students that is not necessarily fair. The profession, pharmacy, deals with lives. The three most important aspect of pharmacy are quality, safety and efficacy of medicines and these in turn help to save patients’ lives, to improve their health and to manage chronic diseases while at the same time maximising the comfort of the patient. It is important to demonstrate a degree of professionalism for patients to ensure their lives in our care. This level of competence can only be exhibited upon entering the profession if students are taught right from day one. It improves the chances of perfecting skills that have been taught and instilled from college and therefore of providing better services to the patients. As future pharmacists, pharmacy students have to assume the role and learn to behave in an appropriate manner that is respectful to both the profession and colleagues. A pharmacist or even a pharmacy...

Senior Reflective Essay

...Project-Reflective Essay As I look back at the writings I have created in these past few years, I realize that other than my junior year, I haven't written any narrative pieces, in any classes. The focus throughout my high school curriculum has been toward argumentative, analysis, and informative writings. Only in my junior year did I write my first creative writings in the form of a short story and a poem. The first creative writing I had to write a "Vomit" Draft. A vomit draft was the very first draft of a paper with little to no guidelines. "Bring two minutes to life" was the only instruction. We had to throw down 500 words without paying any real attention to punctuation or grammar. This kind of freedom associated with such creative writing was an alien concept to me. Getting used to writing without a structure that we had to follow, without a set of guidelines we had to abide by took a while. But, this kind of writing really helped me learn and improve, not just my writings, my organization and my time management skills as well. Knowing that I had to write such a demanding paper (it turned out to be fourteen pages longs), I had to improve my time management skills, which, up till junior year, hadn’t really been a challenge. Forcing myself then, to distribute time wisely has really helped me now, with the terrific pressures and burdens of college applications. This creative writing segment in my junior year helped my prepare, in a way, for these college essays. It gave me...
